How small is it?

Would it be good for keeping a dip, such as chile con queso, hot on a buffet? Or maybe for serving melted butter? Yeh, I'm reaching a little.

Jim

What about a mini chocolate fondue?

Great for simmering pot pourri...

The chile con queso was the only thing I thought of and if anything I'd be inclined to do it for such a dip.

Any other warm dip suggestions? Tho as we approach a humid heat index of 100+, a hot dip does not sound terribly great at the moment! ;-)

I do use mine for chili con queso, also for mini sausages in hot sweet and sour/BBQ sauce. I also use mine (I have three) for making side dishes for parties, things like corn, peas, gravy, baked beans (although I usually use my large round for beans and freeze some for later), brussel sprouts in butter... but nothing with cheese sauce, I'm always afriad it will overcook when I'm not looking. I did try oatmeal in one, if you are going to do that you should not do it overnight unless your cooks at a much lower temp than mine. They only have one temp which is suppose to be low... but they cook quite fast. Mine cooked the oatmeal in 3 or 4 hours, in my large crock it takes 6 to 8 hours on low. I've never tried mine for chocolate fondue, but I might have to! Oh, maybe you could use it for a hot artichoke spinach dip?

Joanne

Oops, I forgot to mention, I also use mine for apple crisp. The topping is not as crispy but it tastes really good.

I use mine all the time for overnight oatmeal -- it's perfect!

Overnight oatmeal has totally ruined any other oatmeal for me -- I just adore it. I add dried cranberries to mine and it totally eliminates the need for any additional sweetening.

Might just have to pull mine out tonight now. Yum!

I use mine for dips. I also use it to heat up soup when I am going to be gone and have to hurry back to eat quickly (I eat soup summer or winter, with a/c house I don't need "summer" food and "winter" food.
I am sure I could use it for other things if I really thought about it.

I used mine for small amounts of bbq beef or anything I need to make and reduce the recipe to accomodate 2-4 servings.

There's even a cookbook designed for the 1-1/2-quart mini slow cooker. 350 Big Taste Recipes for the 1.5 Quart Mini Slow Cooker: All American Favorites Adapted for the Mini Slow Cooker with an Emphasis on Healthy Eating. See link below.

I bought one of the baby crocks - it was just too cute. (See, I don't go shopping much...) Anyway, it's great for warm dips.

When I used to get my legs waxed the technician would keep the wax warm in one of those

[now just because I said 'used to' does NOT mean I want anyone to ask, or even think, of how I do hair removal today] [thats worse than when my kids say "You are now aware of your blinking, good day."]

I sometimes use mine at work for a yummy lunch. I dump in a can of soup (usually cream of chicken or cream of mushroom), maybe some chili powder, then leftover veggies and meat from dinner the night before and plug it in. By lunchtime I have a delicious hot "homemade" lunch.

Mostly I use mine for dips but at Christmas I used it for the cheese sauce for cauliflower and broccoli. Not everyone in our family wants the cheese sauce so it was a nice way to keep it warm for those who do.

Have also used it for cheese fondue, meatballs served up as "sliders" and BBQ pork for pork on a bun......but only for two or four people. Works OK on the boat where space is limited.

Would never have bought it but it came for free with my big crock pot.

Thank you all for the suggestions. It's unlikely that I would do most any of them, and the minicrock is on it's way to a charity shop.

How much you wanna bet that I miss it in the next year???

I would keep it. I gave mine away years ago and now I wish I had one. I thought my small fondue pots would be fine - and more elegant- but the crock pot really works a lot better than any sterno.

Maureen keep it for a forum swap!

I like a dip I make out of black beans that is spicy and savory and simply delicious. I use my mini-crockpot all the time for keeping it hot. It has queso in the recipe (a mild mexican creamy cheese that is like feta and soft curd cottage cheese -that I use- blendered into a creamy paste).

I like to keep our butter warm in a mini-crockpot when we eat crabs. It never sets up and is nice and hot and rich with the seafood. Perfect if you ask me.

rlcollins- would you share the recipe for overnight oatmeal?
