Do you smell things just for fun...?

The discussions about what we do and don't like to smell made me wonder if I am the only one who can't resist smelling things when I'm shopping. I'm always checking the scent of candles I'm not going to buy, soap I don't need, even cleaning supplies, shoes and plastic items. But my habit of recreational smelling is not limited to objects.

I promise, I am not making this up, and I wasn't on drugs. A few years ago, I was supposed to meet my husband and our two sons at a coffee shop in the mall, after we had finished shopping. Anyway, I wasn't familiar with this particular mall, but for some reason I never thought of looking at the map to find out where the coffee shop was. I just started walking around the mall, trying to smell freshly ground coffee beans. When my guys finally found me wandering around, still trying to smell my way to my destination, they were incredulous. While DH and older son were laughing their rear ends off, my younger son was looking at me like I was a complete moron. When he said "You tried to find a coffee shop with your NOSE???" I realized maybe that wasn't the best approach. I'm hoping maybe someone, somewhere has had a similar lapse... It seemed perfectly normal at the time.
