My Favorite Prediction for 2010: Everybody Just Wants to Have Fun
Last week, Jennifer from Niche Interiors wrote an ideabook about a few of the design trends she's predicting for 2010. At the top of the list? Fun.
After I read that book, I saw "fun" everywhere I looked - fun food in Food & Wine, fun fashion in Harper's Bazaar. And, of course, fun interiors. After 2009, which has been something of a downer of a year, "fun" is a trend I think we're all ready for.
So, in that spirit, here are a few of my favorite superfun spaces:

So, in that spirit, here are a few of my favorite superfun spaces:
How great is this kitchen? the orange and pink chairs alone make me smile, and when you add all those pots and pans, I can't stop grinning.
This entryway, full of yellow, is welcoming and energetic - its a great first glimpse of a house.
Nina van de Goor knows how to do fun. Bright colors, mixed patterns, stuff everywhere - her apartment looks like a blast.
This table, featured in 2007's DIFFA, is whimsical and hilarious, but not so much that you couldn't actually eat there.
Kate Spade's 5th Avenue store is a study in "fun." I love the stripes - they're outrageous, but stop just short of being too much.
Fun comes in small packages, too, like Eve Martel's little plastic flea market ram. This picture just makes me smile.
I've always loved this bedroom for its great light and juxtaposition of color. Now I realize why - it looks like a fun place to hang out.
Vanessa de Vargas knows a lot about fun. Her brightly colored furniture shapes are hilarious and add tons of personality to a room.
