what are you doing this weekend just for fun?
Comments (24)Well, I had a job list and just almost finished it this weekend. Nevermind the list was two weeks old. LOL. I just plugged in and programmed the dehumidifier I bought two days ago. I know, I know, that season is supposed to be over and it's humidifier season. Not in an 185 year old house. Dank. So, it won't be for long. Good lordy, they've gotten candy butt with those things.......all the little bells and whistles. The up side is I got it for over a hundred dollars off, thanks to the season being over and a gift card my kid gave me. Baked another couple pumpkin pies. The last pair I baked were so gorgeous, but one bite and it was evident the directions forgot to include the sugar. The hens loved it, however and they won't get a cavity in that scarce commodity, a hen's tooth. Got the tomato cages all up and stacked, and most of the pepper plants pulled, did a laundry or two to take advantage of the sunny, cool, breezy days. Cut out a template for a new quilt. I am going to make a test piece to see how it flies. This one is the tumbling blocks pattern. If it proves too icky, I'll put it away and address it after Christmas. Like Lilo, on my off seasons, one day is much like the next so I make it a weekend in my mental attitude. I DON'T HAVE TO WORK, unless I want to and usually relax and still end up accomplishing more than a weekday because there aren't the usual distractions of mail/phones/ etc. Got the layouts done for my Christmas flyers for work too. Gosh, where was the fun part?...See MoreJust for fun, which of these would you want in your house.
Comments (18)I have a pantry surrounding my fridge. If that doesn't make me ineligible to play, my pick one only answer would be the waterfall in a bathtub, but I could also go with the any ofthe water features answer. The staircase that reveals a secret room would be cool -- but we don't have basements here so that would be harder to pull off. The library staircase and slide would be awesome if your kids were still young or there were young grandchildren. This that would mean they would read more? ;-) ETA: I think I like water, glass and staircases in general. I love the stained glass door, but can't see that one in my house. I do know a place that could make one for me if I ever had the right place. This post was edited by lascatx on Tue, Jul 9, 13 at 19:14...See MoreJust for fun. How would you make this look better?
Comments (16)How cute!! Be sure to follow the inspector's advice-listen carefully!! Ask LOTS of questions, and listen to your "gut". This could really be a cutie!!! IF all is well. THere are so many possibilites, depending on your buget. We always do necessities then build on that-thus are homes have always looked good; and this keeps our spirits up in between projects. Now a few thoughts: Exteior: The dark red is nice, it can fade-red oxidizes. If you want to go for cottage, the tri color combo is great. Would you consider Lt. Med. BLue, Darker med. Blue and white? For shutters-can you use a simple skill saw? take 2 planks of wood and cut half a heart from each, then with a small space between put the hearts together for a shutter-We did this and it worked great!! Of course you'll need to sand and paint. not sure how well I am at explaining-but does work great. Depending on how much you do with the porch,( more bri-brac), a new white screen door could help. Landscaping is the next biggy; around that foundation, flowering scrubs, ect. Have fun!!...See MoreDream Shower Set Up - ideas, would you do it again?
Comments (16)Keep in mind that aging in place is one of my goals: Oversized shower large enough for help getting in/out, if necessary. One hand held shower mounted high enough to act as primary shower/ on a slide bar so it can be used from the stool. Double showers? Why? If two of you are in the shower, the goal usually isn't washing your hair! Moveable teak stool that can be placed where we please -- or replaced with a more study handicapped shower chair someday in the future, if necessary. No barrier or step-over of any type, but a door to hold in warmth. Pony walls rather than glass all the way up (because glass can't support a grab bar). No wider than 3 1/2' because wider than that, I couldn't effectively reach grab bars on both sides at once. Yes, the Goldilocks analogy works -- not too big, not too small. Large niche for storage hidden in pony wall (so not visible to the whole room). Small, "grippy" tile on the floor -- absolutely not a slippery shower pan. Good light and ventilation in the shower. Convenient place to hang towel -- don't say, "Big deal" -- I'm in a hotel right now with a fabulous bath ... And no place to hang a shower towel in reach of the shower door. Turbo body dryer -- like a giant hair dryer, but it's for the body. It's designed for handicapped people, but I think it'd be a nice luxury. Nice tile over everything....See Moremaggiepatty
