I don't have a sofa cover but I have a couple chair covers for my cats that I purchased from A. I have maroon cover on maroon chairs so it doesn't look too bad. I don't use the straps - not necessary. There are similar for sofas - just look for pet sofa cover. My neighbor has them for her dog. Description below - link didn't work.

We use a large bath towel that fits almost perfectly. Works well and the color coordinates well with the upholstery. Also, I am too cheap to spend money on a cover when I don't need to do so. ;-)

We have 2 sofas, one is covered with matching throws, one for the seat and one for the back. Not stylish but similar to the sofa color and washable.

I have considered getting this instead - lots of colors, good ratings.

What DLM shows is what I have on my chairs - works well and washes up nicely.

I have a sofa for the dogs and only one gets on there. She's claimed it and I keep a king-sized quilt on there that I wash, and it's all tucked in and she untucks the corner and sits on the sofa and makes a nest.

LOL bumble, we used the foil trick before. Our dogs don’t seem to care about chairs at all, but they do like sofas!

I think we need to see what the new sofa looks like before we can make quality recommendations :)

Ha, Ruby, it is literally the same Lee sofa we have, except in different upholstery. (The one we have is about 10 years old.) It’s not here yet but this is the model. Fabric is actually similar to this pic, kind of a taupey greenish hard-to-describe color.

Some covers are contpstructed like a fitted sheet and hopefully, that would lead to less movement.

Here is what I'm dealing with:

Grandpup likes to perch. She's been with us since January. Even though she jumps on the seat cushion it doesn’t seem to get dirty.

My dog is having difficulty jumping on the sofas, but when he did, I had blankets on the seat cushions.

Sometimes I had to put the blanket on the sofa firbthe two of them.

My Florida home has all high performance fabric. I'm replacing my NY living room with it as well.

Since you've only just ordered the sofa, can you order fabric yardage from the manufacturer? We had a sofa made a few years ago, and I planned to order extra yardage to make a dog protective cover myself, but when they told me the labor would only be $50, (including piping), I let them make it. I must wash that thing 2x/month, and I absolutely love it. Nobody can even tell it's on because it is a 100% match.

Oh gosh…I see ads for stretchable sofa cushion covers all over IG! They have a chenille texture and snap on individually like a fitted sheet. I think if you search on Amazon you can find similar. Many colors!

Do you really care what it looks like?

My two cats, like many others, prefer to throw up on soft surfaces, e.g., carpet, rugs, beds, furniture. It's more comforting that way.

I currently have colorful beach towels in rotation on my couch. They're just wide enough to tuck a bit under the back cushions. They look ridiculous, but when there's a mishap, they come off quickly and wash up like any other towel. Someone coming over, whip them off. I've had too many instances of having to clean the covers. Just being practical.

I use faux fur throws and mats for spots the boys like to lounge. All are machine washable.

Quilted whole cloth throws and quilts are nice because they get better with washing. I think things that have to be washed all the time can still look good even if something happens on them, but they don't have to be the most expensive precious things ever.

Sure it is rational. You just got a new sofa, obviously you care. Like many decor decisions, it is a balance between form and function. We never let our dog on furniture, partly because I am scared to death of Lyme disease, having known someone whose face was half paralyzed from it. Our vet told us to never allow pets on furniture or beds.

BTW, I did find this, which seems very similar to what I had seen on the HW video.

They are cute nini but just won’t work in our living room. I might end up getting one for our sad sofa at our beach cottage, though.

I used quilted covers for the sofa seats until we got two dogs that shed all year. And in the summer they sweat and it smells awful. Because I haven't used top sheets in years that's what I use on the sofa, but definitely tucked in at back and the ends where it meets the arms.

Most dogs dig a spot where they sleep which is why I tuck in the sheet.

Now that it's summer, a sheet will be a nice and cool spot to lay on, even for people. :)

You can buy a top sheet by itself to match your decor. They're so easy to yank off and wash.

My dog is recently allowed on the sofa after a 3 year ban when we got a new one. On the old couch we used a big quilt but it was a pain and unwieldy. I've ordered a seat cover from Etsy thanks to this thread. Thank you!
