At 83 I enjoy reading, seeing my family and slot machines. I don't think I'll play slot machines anymore. What about you?

Walks, drives, games, family, silly conversations, travelling, surprises, golfing.

I love doing goofy things with my husband. When we are out driving we will pick an item and guess how many of those things we will see while we are out. It can be anything. Motorcycles, white horses, for sale signs, deer...anything. We each take a guess at the number and at the end of the drive, the winner is the World Champion for the day.

When we golf, we never put our real names on the scorecard. We’ve been Archie and Veronica, Samson and Delilah, Sophie and Justin and so on.

We play lots of card games.. Honeymoon Whist, Progressive Rummy ...

We visited the casinos a few times when we were younger but didn’t really enjoy them. I think we were too cheap. As soon as we were up money we would leave and go home. Once we went to a casino for a night out and within 10 minutes we were up $800, immediately we left and bought a GIC at our bank the next day.

Bingo halls are a definite “no” for me but I have friends who went all the time before Covid.

I enjoy water colour painting, strumming the ukulele, horses, movies, good natured silliness.

I love to walk! Museums, concerts, brunch out with Bloody Marys, movies, sewing, traveling, reading, anything my dog, talking with my sister, new restaurants, tennis, golf, cooking, laughing with my friends, and historic tours! I enjoy period pieces on tv/movies and documentaries. I find it fun to sit on my patio and listen to music.

For fun: the last thing you made from your citrus?

    Q

    Comments (15)
Almost every morning: Monreal clemintine rind + Temple of Heaven Special Gunpowder Green Tea + Thin sliced ginger root, in about a 16-20 oz mug or recycled foam cup in the microwave to a slight boil. Any home grown orange, mandarin, or mandarin hybrid rind works. There many benificial compounds in "orange rind oils" and very tasty if not overdone. The green tea may have an unpleasent "whang" after taste with out these helpful additives. Green teas are the most healthy drinks known drinks on earth. Any good green or black tea works. (Not ice tea leaves please.) Lunch: Instead of a vinigrette dressing a Vietnamese salad is topped with West Indian lime (Key or Mexican)/ honey (or sugar) added for those bland winter tomatoes. Most evenings, after dinner: Try this. Juice; 1 Ujukitsu sweet lemon + 1 Wekiwa tangelo-lo 1/2 Golden grapefruit + sea salt + a shot or two of vodka for the best salty dog in citrus history. Or for us old gezers with arthritis: Juice; Two Page tan-tangelos+ 2 Tankan tangerines (or Ponkans or sweet orange) + 2 tbs canned coconut cream + 1 oz vodka + 1/2 oz Bacardi This is a variation of a recipe given by a 3rd generation Plaquemine Parish, La. citrus nurseryman after I told him I grew Page. If you dont have an Asian grocery for the co- conut cream use the Cajun's original Malibu coconut rum. The canned cream is better for the joints. Or use coconut oil from an (Asian) Indian food store in some other recipe. Remember all citrus originated in south and east Asia. Look to their uses and build on them. Bon citrus apitite!

What a nice idea Eileen. I remember several times my DD asked my DM to get out old pictures and she always had an excuse as to why she couldn't.

This thread keeps popping up...maybe it's time to renew it again. Anyway, here's some pictures of my garden when I was living up in Georgia a few years ago. This was the second year in the house. All the roses I brought with me as cuttings from Florida. There was no room in the truck for furniture because half of it was full of roses. I had my priorities. Front walkway Lavendar Lassie Old Blush and salvia Clematis Nelly Moser Lilies and Evelyn Side yard. I can't remember everything that was planted here, but since I carried over 100 roses north with me, there's a lot. Mme Isaac Periere Phlox in the morning fog Reve d'Or, clematis jackmanii, and wisteria. When they were all blooming, it was heavenly.

I enjoy reading, gardening, traveling, cooking, eating, walking, and quite a few other activities. I used to enjoy roller coasters but I'm not going to do those anymore -- not even the kiddie ones!

My DH watching tv. For me, I love to sew. We both loving grabbing a few beers at the local bar and playing Keno. Also going out to eat. Going to a "new" town upstate and staying in a local Mom and Pop motel and find a local bar. Usually back at the motel by 8pm LOL.

I like to go to flea markets. I like to collect old garden roses, including growing them from cuttings. I love waterlilies and crossing them to get new varieties. For many years I raised fancy goldfish and koi, and that was some of my most enjoyable hobbies. Every day was like Christmas, watching the baby koi change color. I raised them in a big way for a hobbyist. I had 6 farm ponds that I raised waterlilies in as well. I still have 3 varieties of goldfish....and I still keep koi, having started over after losing them all in the flood.

And horses, of course. I haven't ridden in several years but I have 2 young horses that I need to start. In my later years, I love taking an old (senior) horse that is in poor condition, and bring it back to good health. I am good at it. I wish I could do more, but I need to make sure I outlive them, and, too, they are very expensive to maintain.

Val, age 25, before and after. He lived to 28, but had to put him down recently.

I also like to cook, and hang out with my cats.

Hiking the Appalachian trail every day for four miles with my favorite dog. Watching Netflix, reading, and tending to the menagerie which includes three spoiled cats, two dogs and 16 gorgeous koi.

I love to read. Always have a book going. Read almost every day. My husband and I put puzzles together, play games, our new one this year is the Monopoly Card game. So much quicker and to us more fun than the board game. We like to take drives and don't always stay on main roads. I have over 200 daylilies. Thank heavens I have a live in gardener, my husband, because my legs can't take care of that many anymore.

In the summer it’s about the water. Whether I’m in it or at it or on it, I’m happy. Winter, snowboarding. Between covid limitations and my increasingly problematic knees, I don’t know what the future holds.

Usually watching TV. I like to relax with nothing to do. I'm boring. But I also love to garden. Got a new tiller for Christmas thats getting a workout tommorow!!! I turned one half of the red clay hill behind my house into a rose garden last year with just a shovel. Have to do the other half plus I have many tulips to plant!

I also love going to casinos and playing slot machines. We haven't gone in a really really long time obviously. I miss it. It was a couple times a year treat.

What else? I like to cook, but wouldn't call it a good time unless its a brand new recipe I'm trying out.

I have lots of fun with our dogs. I like just hanging out and petting my older pitbull,/great dane mix while we watch the world go by from the porch. The younger ones are always up for playing. Planning on a new bull mastiff puppy that is due to be born in January. Lots of work and fun ahead!

Bowl, although, I haven't done it in a long time. Used to like to go to the movies and dinner out. Trying new restaurants used to be fun. I was checking to see if a bakery/cafe/wine store was really closed for good in Lexington the other day and found out it had. The owners retired in the Fall and taught the new owners how to make baguettes. It was a French bakery/cafe and next door they sold wine. The new place looks super cute and has a bigger menu. Will check it out when things calm down with Covid 19.

Love to travel too but not sure I will be able to do much as my left foot is back to really hurting me again. Went grocery shopping today because these two boys really eat a lot. Not used to that having lived alone for so long. Just the little bit of walking I did was making my foot hurt.

I also love to garden. I can't wait for Spring. Will start some seedlings indoors in late March or Early April.

We like to travel and miss being able to jump in the car and go somewhere for a few days or a week or two. I like to walk and hike. I used to do a lot of running until my knees protested too much and now I am mostly walking. We miss meeting friends for drinks and dinner on occasion at a favorite restaurant or bar.

I love gardening and during the early days of the pandemic I suppose that kept me sane

Many people are still focusing on improving their homes, friends of mine with residential landscaping related businesses are as busy as ever. Another friend, an independent garden center operator had a booming season this year.

I need to get busy with my gardens again. It really does bring me peace, and I still don't have things in the shape I would like them since moving here. I was home a lot this year of course, but somehow distracted by my Mom and let DH take over more outside than I usually would have. I've gotten away from growing perennials from seed too when that was always satisfying.

I'm pretty happy outside. Especially when water is involved. If not fishing, boating, just being near water - river, lake, ocean - is my happy place. Little things that can make me happy: cooking, painting (household things, I am not an artist), doing jigsaw puzzles online.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry you lost Val. I'd missed that if you'd mentioned it before.

    Walking the dogs with DH!

Going out to pizza and a movie. Can't wait till this is okay to do again safely. I really missed our annual Christmas Day movie! We at least in the before times have the big family dinner on Christmas Eve day so always go to a movie the next day pre covid.

Gardening. I collect individual plants and I'm not a great swath of plants person. I love putting all of the unique plants together to make a pleasing tableau. I garden mostly in big ceramic pots.

    Beading necklaces.

    Listening and reading about science.

In the long ago past I loved to dance. Also walked 2 miles a day for years. Always loved to read and to cook and bake. I also did a great deal of sewing for our daughters and myself. In later years I made many nightgowns and pajamas for a homeless hotel.

    I have also enjoyed writing.

Now all of my friends both old and recent, have passed away, as well as both of my husbands. My life is pretty lonely.

After our four daughters were out of college and on their own my husband and I enjoyed an occasional trip to a casino and to horse races.

I never watched much TV but I do now. I had no idea that Donald Trump had a TV show.

Cycling is fun, seeing the area, almost always stopping for a chat here or there. Have not done any lately, for many months, I look forward to riding my tricycle hopefully in 2021.

To me, learning and new adventures are fun, so I'm looking forward to my project of learning to play a musical instrument.

Anything with horses but especially trail riding with like minded and well matched riders. We had a great time today. Felt like being 12 again. I love spending time with my grandkids at waterparks and the beach. I am always happy when near water. Fun is having adventures on road trips, meeting interesting people and taking the red roads to see where they lead. Fun is going to the fair and people watching. I have fun watching my dog and most animals at play. For me fun requires some sort of action or activity I guess. I don't have to be doing the activity but I love rodeos, whale watching, white water rafting etc. One of my most fun memories is bashing cars in a demolition derby. The rush was incredible. I'd do that again in a heartbeat, even at my age today. I have fun playing games with friends or family. I had fun last week catching up with people at my old stomping grounds. But for the most part I am not a partier, never have been. I have spent far more time at dragstrips and speedways during my life having fun than at dances or parties. I guess I am simply wired that way.

I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, going to movies and quiet time, but that is relaxation, it's fulfilling but not fun by my definition.

In warm weather, I love getting out and about with Mother Nature. Wherever my scooter will go I go. I especially like places where there are boardwalks that will get me close to things that crawl, hop, fly, or slither.

Indoor weather finds me reading, and enjoying all kinds of puzzles, especially jig saw, crossword and sudoku. And having a grandog on my lap is special too.

Depends on the day. Somedays we spend our entire day on front porch and walking the beach. Then another quilting or sewing, reading . We have continued with our “date night”. Enjoy having a special meal and reason to put on our best clothes. Even if it’s just a walk to our porch. Before COVID we would attend car shows, pack a few clothes with no plans and drive to somewhere new to us. One trip we drove across two states and stopped in a tiny town for a weekend. We are always together. After COVID we may travel more.

Renting movies. I love lilies, growing them, sitting in the garden smelling the Orientals. Jogging wooded trails, with beautiful Colorado scenery in the background. Watching the kitties running and jumping for the catnip mouse I pull around. My idea of fun has become pretty tame. ☺

My most missed and favorite thing to do is to sit at the table with friends and share a meal and good conversation. I miss that the most and it it the most desirable thing that I want to do. I am so darned lonely!!!!!! FaceTime does not do it for me. I want to be with my grand babies, too.
