You should put this post into the Laundry section. Personally, I wouldn't use those quick-connects. I've had them pop off unexpectedly under pressure. Also, Teflon shouldn't be required since these connections all have rubber washers (no pun intended) in them. The guys who delivered my LG used a web strap (a pair) to lift the washer into position. The web strap resembled a tow strap for a car.

I had a Bravos and hated it so much I sold it for pennies on the dollar. I think it was $1000 and I sold it for $100. I wish I could tell you the big tub is a wonderful thing but it's not. It doesn't put enough water into the tub and sometimes my clothes were not even wet. It was gross. Not to mention it was big so it often went out of balance and the clothes were in a huge wadded up ball when I extracted the clothes. They went too far when cutting down the water used to wash the clothes because it now does not get clothes clean or in some cases even wet. It's also a noisy machine and takes forever to wash clothes. My GE front loader does a much better job of cleaning clothes. I would never buy a top load High Efficiency machine again. The dryer was noisy too. I'm much happier with the set I have now which I think is the same GE set you mentioned in your post.

The only thing with the Samsungs would be to check the measurements. The 448 has to be taller, wider, or stick out farther in the room since it's a bigger unit. You probably wouldn't notice the width but the height would definitely be noticeable. And you could just pull the washer out farther so they match in the front. The only problem would be if you can see around the side and would visually notice the space behind the washer. So as long as the washer is a smaller capacity than the dryer you should be fine from an operational viewpoint.

I have a LG set I purchased in 2011. I have become very unhappy with this pair. I have taken all of the advice I have received here regarding my washer, and I do not like the machine at all. If a load of towels or similar type of laundry is not absolutely perfectly distributed, it will not spin. It typically adds 10 minutes or more to a cycle trying to balance the load during a spin. As far as rinsing goes, I have learned I have to frequently use the water plus option or add the extra rinse option to get well rinsed laundry. I do not use too much detergent...I figured out long ago that you must follow the directions carefully when using HE detergents or there will be issues. Like all FL machines, you use fabric softener at your own peril because mold will build up rather quickly in the dispenser area, and this LG is worse than my previous Kenmore was. Consequently I seldom use the Downey I used to love to use and when I do, I use a very small amount mixed with warm water. Luckily I always empty the dispenser at the end of my using the machine for a day so I have yet to develop a smell of mildew. I do regularly use a washer cleaner and always do at least one hot wash with bleach a week. When I first bought the pair I really liked the dryer, but I am finding now that it does not dry as well as it did when it was new. 4 years should not make that much of a difference. Maybe I am being overly judgmental towards the dryer because I dislike the washer so much but I definitely notice degradation in the drying process. If I were to choose a FL washer again, it would not be a LG model. I am intrigued by Speed Queen. I have about a year to go and will see what the market has available at the time. This LG has soured me completely on FL machines unless I find one that seems to offer me what I want a washer to be.
