Would you go for LG Washer & Dryer in these circumstances?
Comments (7)Thanks Jannie. Sears does leaves a bad taste in my brain too, but there is nothing else in my town. . . my last major purchase from Sears was Kenmore stainless steel stove and fridge. Not long after getting the stove, oven grime began accumulating between the two panes of the oven, there's unremovable white marks on the black ceramic top of the element that I use the most, and one of the fridge baskets broke. Well, I'm about an hour away from two major cities and have a jeep liberty. So maybe it would be better to make 2 trips & rent a dolly or something. So I'll start researching the reviews, but if anyone can recommend their favorite washer and dryer for $2000 or hopefully less, it would be much appreciated. Should add that we will be selling the house within 1 or 2 years, so I suppose the washer and dryer should also be appealing to home buyers too. I know nothing. Thank you....See Morelg washer & dryer tromm
Comments (17)I've had my LG Tromm front looading washer (WM1832CW) and dryer set for a year. Almost from the beginning we had a problem with all the towels STINKING (we wash towels in hot water) and the rest of laundry doesn't smell that good either (washed in warm water). We use only natural laundry detergent (doesn't have the chemical smell to mask things), so it's really obvious. Then I discovered underneath the rubber ring/seal at the front of the washer an incredible build-up of gobs of disgusting scum and slime. Then, when I pulled the rubber seal away from the metal, the same scum was also behind the rubber! I phoned LG customer service, and also had a repair man come out to look at it. I cannot believe this, but BOTH said this is a NORMAL occurence with LG washers and it's my job to perform regular maintenance on the washer by cleaning out the scum and flushing it with vinegar once a month!! I am appalled. What kind of company thinks that this is NORMAL for a washing machine and that any customer would want to perform this task on a regular basis?? Obviously, this is bad product design. Even with cleaning the scum regularly (which is very difficult to clean), the water still stinks at certain points in the cycle - you can smell it plainly. I have never had this problem with 9 other washing machines I've owned before (we move a lot). The last time I spoke to LG customer service I said: "Can I log a complaint here regarding this, or is there another number I should call, becuase this is just not acceptable?" And the customer service guy hung up on me! Needless to say, I will never buy anything from LG ever again....See MoreLG Combo Washer Dryer Lint Build-Up
Comments (29)Just incase others have a similar problem - I thought I was getting something similar to this problem. Clothes not drying properly however there seemed to be a lot of steam coming out of the drawer / tray. Turns out the cold water solenoid valve had died (the top left hand of the machine with the 3 blue tabs, just right to the red square part in the picture on the comment above) so water wasn't flowing into the condenser and then the steam wasn't being condensed - you could tell this was the problem since intermittently you should hear a sudden "whoosh" for a second or two every few minutes of the valve opening up and water flowing out. It did appear that less water was coming out the grey pipe on the back of the machine too, but this was because no extra water was coming into the system via the condenser. Anyway bought new cold water solenoid valve for £25, two screws off, 3 pipes on and off and it was fixed. Couldn't find much about this on the web - Just an idea....See MoreLG or whirlpool washer dryer
Comments (28)The door asembly actually fills with water. It seems like the tub fills then doesn't drain, then water leaks out front and fills door. If you see the photo, the water line is water in the door. I really hope that we can make this one work. It's probably best to save money at the moment. Overall, this has been a great washer. My parents used it for 4 people + 5 family members joined house for 1 yr. We bought house, so now serves our family of 5 + my brother's family of 6 for 6 months last year while they were moving. Lots of kids and laundry. Constantly washing, and probably lack of attention to maintenance. We'd never cleaned the supply screens before. Oh, and our softener died last year and I'm sure that didn't help. Actually think hard water contributed to the demise of our dishwasher. Got a wonderful new Kinetico. Less salt and better water so much easier on the appliances. I don't know if we want to replace many parts. It looks like all the parts that "could" be the problem would add up to $400. LG seems to have most problem free reviews on consumer reports. Yes, we also liked the easy access trap. I do like that Maytag is made in America but my husband doesn't like the brand (not sure why)....See Moreksb1
