LG or SAMSUNG front-load washer/dryer?
Comments (21)We purchased a Samsung VRT front loader and have had no problems so far for about 6 or 7 years. We got it from Sears and when the 5 year warrantee expired I purchased another 3 year plan. Unlike others here at GW we have had good luck with service from our local sears. When I thought there was something wrong with the soap dispenser of our washer they sent a new one right away. Turned out not to be a problem, just a design that didn't make sense. Our Kenmore refrigerator got routine service annually under warrantee and all has been well. That unit is about 9 years old and I only had to replace a dispenser tray in the ice maker not under warrantee, so I found a local repair shop that would install a new one I bought at Amazon for less than their wholesale cost. I have no experience with LG but the only products that have had mostly positive reviews is their refrigerator. To bad too because some of their stuff looks so sexy....See MoreWhirlpool Seeks Duties on LG, Samsung Clothes-Washer Imports
Comments (8)Well I am very anti Whirlpool. After a run in with their customer service over a newly designed Maytag refrigerator (they had just acquired Maytag) they are off my buy list. I have an older Whirlpool branded dishwasher that I wished I had went with my first choice and bought the Bosch. For a top of the line Kitchen Aid, it is a cheaply built unit. And yes I bought a Samsung washer/dryer a few years back. Had to call their customer service when it was a few weeks old. Had a squeak that they resolved in a timely manner. Even called after the service to make sure I was satisfied. So this Christmas I purchased a Samsung TV. So I guess I'm saying I wonder if part of the reason they are having problems selling their products is their prior customers are unhappy and jumping ship....See MoreNew $1K washer: Whirlpool, LG or Bosch
Comments (5)The new whirlpool is tops on consumer reports so its worth considering. I still think the 2901 is the best choice and you can get a good price on it now and the new whirlpool hasn't been around that long. The 5 cubic feet on the whirlpool is a great feature though. Hopefully these new models help turn whirlpool aroundbut I trust the lg more....for now....See MoreLG washer/dryer - are they recommended?
Comments (51)I have a LG set I purchased in 2011. I have become very unhappy with this pair. I have taken all of the advice I have received here regarding my washer, and I do not like the machine at all. If a load of towels or similar type of laundry is not absolutely perfectly distributed, it will not spin. It typically adds 10 minutes or more to a cycle trying to balance the load during a spin. As far as rinsing goes, I have learned I have to frequently use the water plus option or add the extra rinse option to get well rinsed laundry. I do not use too much detergent...I figured out long ago that you must follow the directions carefully when using HE detergents or there will be issues. Like all FL machines, you use fabric softener at your own peril because mold will build up rather quickly in the dispenser area, and this LG is worse than my previous Kenmore was. Consequently I seldom use the Downey I used to love to use and when I do, I use a very small amount mixed with warm water. Luckily I always empty the dispenser at the end of my using the machine for a day so I have yet to develop a smell of mildew. I do regularly use a washer cleaner and always do at least one hot wash with bleach a week. When I first bought the pair I really liked the dryer, but I am finding now that it does not dry as well as it did when it was new. 4 years should not make that much of a difference. Maybe I am being overly judgmental towards the dryer because I dislike the washer so much but I definitely notice degradation in the drying process. If I were to choose a FL washer again, it would not be a LG model. I am intrigued by Speed Queen. I have about a year to go and will see what the market has available at the time. This LG has soured me completely on FL machines unless I find one that seems to offer me what I want a washer to be....See Moremamapinky0
