Thinking about buying propane burner for PCing
Comments (27)If I don't get the Waring (or find something at another Job Lot), I think I'll get this from Cabela's. It's more than I wanted to spend, but it's got 2 burners, tall sturdy legs, a windshield and a hose with regulator. All I need is the tank and we've got 3-4 of those (have a Mosquito Magnet we never use, a grill, and the tank from older grill that DH kept plus I think a spare?). A little heavy but other than going to the farm up the road (and I can get DH or DS to help me load and unload, the EZ-Up is 50 lbs and I can handle that by myself though I don't like to), I don't plan on hauling it around. I'd set it up in garage during canning season, have DH break it down and store it in basement off-season but would be handy in case of power outages (summer or winter). Here is a link that might be useful: Explorer 2-burner stove...See MoreWhat do you think about an upstairs wall unit?
Comments (6)I just had an extensive discussion with the owners of an long established HVAC business regarding zoning. Their take was avoid it if you can. Zoned systems cost more to install than non-zoned systems. They have more components to go wrong, and they have to have a provision to dump the excess capacity back to the return when only one zone is calling. That results in additional cycling over what would occurred if the entire house was a single zone balanced with manual dampers. It can also result in short inefficient run times when only a single zone calls. Multiple HVAC systems for a house are whole 'nother story....See MoreCarrier unit condenser out - ac co. trying to sell svce contract
Comments (5)Carrier equipment comes with a 10 year parts equipment provided the installer registers the equipment at the time of the installation. If he does not, then it may only be a 5 year warranty. In 2010 it was possible to buy a 10 year labor warranty directly from Carrier. I am not 100% sure, but I believe only Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers are paid the labor charges for the labor warranty. If you can't find the paper work, you should be able to call Carrier and give them the serial numbers of the condensers. The warranty should be in their records. You don't need a service contract. You should do period maintenance in order to prove the equipment is being maintained in case their is a dispute with Carrier. How big is your house? I know temperatures in Arizona can easily hit the low 100s, but 10 tons of cooling is still a lot. Have an evaluation done of the duct work. My suspicion is the duct work is too small and may have caused the compressor to fail prematurely. Most houses don't have duct work large enough for one 5 ton unit. Duct work for two 5 tons units would be an impressive installation....See Morewant info about gift I am thinking about buying
Comments (14)I have one that my DD bought me several years ago that I use at my thrift shop in cold weather as the temp never does get very warm and I get cold when sitting. I really like it. I have another one that I bought and I use it on our bed putting it on top of the top sheet and under the blanket, at the foot of the bed. I turn it on an hour or so before going to bed and turn it off when I get in bed, then my feet are toasty warm and no cold sheets....See Morecbielich
