Seeing is believing... Hydrogen Peroxide/Dawn stain remover

Now you see it.. now you don't... Dirt, grease and grime from the pit at the car wash after replacing the chain that pulls the cars through... I haven't found any stains it won't take out.

I deal with stains EVERY day. DH has involuntary tremors & food with subsequent stains get on his shirts, pj's robes, etc. His skin is extremely fragile; the slightest scratch would make you think he was bleeding to death. I find dried blood on the sheets constantly since, while sleeping he doesn't know he's bleeding. (I should buy stock in Band Aids!) Peroxide takes out fresh blood stains but the product I've found the absolute best is Washing Soda. I put half a cup in washer, liquid detergent & hot water, add clothing, sheets, etc. Soak a couple of hours or overnight. It not only whitens whites but removes spaghetti sauce, mustard, dried blood, soot, black grease, ink & most anything else you can think of except rust & for those a few drops of Whink does it. Washing Soda is about $2.50 a box. I collect antique linens & use both products on them as needed, but never bleach. Suzi

I'm not 100% sure, but my general approach would be to find something that would bind the grout cleaner. For example, I recently spilled oil on my couch, so I threw a box of baking soda on it for a day and it absorbed the oil right out of the fabric. I don't know what your grout cleaner is made from, so I'm not sure what would absorb it. In your situation, I would call the grout cleaner manufacturer and ask for their recommendation. I wouldn't put hydrogen peroxide on wood floor without first talking to the manufacturer, as hydrogen peroxide seems like it would be pretty harsh on wood. As a last resort, you could try sanding, staining, and poly-ing that small section of the floor if you know the stain color. Just keep in mind that since it's been sitting for 2-3 days, the stain may have gone deeper than you could reasonably sand. I'm so sorry about your situation :( Hopefully the manufacturer will have some thoughts. Post back if you figure out how to fix it.

This is one you posted KT Stain Remover 5 min prep 1/2 cup Clorox 2 powder bleach 1/2 cup Ivory liquid dish washing soap (original formula) you can make this using any amount of "ingredients", as long as the Clorox 2 Powder (it MUST be the powder) and Ivory dish washing liquid are mixed in equal parts. If "Ivory Joy dish washing liquid" continues to appear, be aware that this is IVORY not Joy liquid. 2. Add luke warm water to the mixture, enough to make a sudsy "bath" for your items. 3. Let the garment sit covered in the water for at least one hour. 4. Check to see if the stain has disappeared. 5. If it is still there, soak until the stain is gone. Soil dwelling organisms like larva and worms feed on freshly decomposing organic matter. In fact, they are part of the chain of decomposition. They feed and poop and then lower organisms process it further. FG's primary food is fungus and freshly decomposing organic matter. Of course, bark and peat are organic matter but nowhere near the same class as leaves, seeds, fruits from the plants. Plus bark and peat both resist decomposition - bark more than peat. But that is what makes it so attractive for soil mixes. Otherwise we could have added any wood chips or other organic matter. In case of 511, not only it is not a suitable base for FG, the top inch or two will dry out quickly making it even harder for FGs to thrive. Of course, all these can be negated by someone who habitually over-waters and does not keep the medium clean of organic debris. All my plants are in 511, gritty or similar structured mixes. And I have not had FGs at least for a decade now. In isolated cases I do get some and always it boils down to a pot that is basically spent - a combination of other accumulated organic matter and severely decomposed bark. People do have reported problems sometimes with FG in 511 mix. Almost all of them used processed potting mix for the peat fraction. And they are notorious sources of fungus gnats. It is just equal parts of Hydrogen Peroxide and regular strength Dawn dishwashing liquid, in a spray bottle. I found it on the internet somewhere, a couple of years ago I think. I use it on light and dark colors, I haven't had any fabric fade or bleach from it. I haven't found any stain It won't take out.

Do you use it in the clothes washer? Wouldn't that make an awful lot of suds? Very impressive result!

Yes I do use it in the washer and I have a front loading Samsung. It has never caused a lot of suds. I had to really soak these shorts good with it, that is why they are laying on a tarp, then used Gain HE detergent, no excess suds at all. You would think there would be so much suds it would ooze out of every possible crevice in the machine, under the utility room door and down the hall...but it doesn't, not in my machine anyway.

I have used the equal parts regular Dawn and white Vinegar mixed in a spray bottle for cleaning the shower/bathroom. Works great-really gets the soap scum.

I will have to try this peroxide formula for stains.

LOL! If you didn't get a lot of suds from using Dawn, then you must have very hard water.

I can't even put a small amount of Dawn in my washer as I have soft water (zero grains).

Im a bit hesitant to put Dawn back into my washer after my experience recently but this looks like it may be a God send for dealing with my husbands uniforms, so I may just suck it up and try it!

andi, if you have soft water it takes just a few less than a 1/2 oz of dawn to turn your machine into a bubble bath.

dave1812: El Paso has some pretty hard water according to the latest water quality report. Maybe a tbsp? perhaps less?

I washed these shorts with a couple of old towels. I always wash extra dirty things like this with the old towels, car drying towels from the garage.
