Here's what the Whirlpool site says about code F26:

This error code indicates that the door needs to be opened and closed.

The F26 code may appear the first time you try to use the washer. Open and close the door to clear the display.

The F26 code may also appear if the washer has run three cycles without the door being opened. Open and close the door to clear the display.

If opening and closing the door does not remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.

...because you said 28, not 26 (duh.) Unfortunately, F28 looks like one you may not be able to correct:

... just a note:
the Sport is made in Mexico

You could try unplugging the washing machine, opening it up, and making sure all the connections inside are tight. Perhaps one became a little loose.

Why did you point out the machines are made in Mexico? Do you think it has Swine Flu? What difference does it make where it is made? Machines made all over the world have problems. Miele is certainly not exempt from problems, either. I have the Mexican built Duet Sport 8500 and my machines work great. So far. Do I think it will last 25 years like my old machine? Probably not. I paid $1500 for the set and if they last 8-10 years I will be thrilled. By then there will be something new I absolutely must have, anyway.

Also, I believe the Duets will be made in Mexico in the future to save shipping costs (and probably labor costs, also).

Sorry that this thread has drifted off-point, but it's completely flawed to try to draw statistical inference from a forum where people go to post their problems. Consumer Reports' reliability surveys are the best we have, and Whirlpool's 10% front-loader repair rate is low compared to other manufacturers.

That said, the Duet Sports are significantly cheaper than the regular Duets, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Duet Sports skimped more on quality parts or design.

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread. I have a Duet 9300 HT made in Germany. It's a tad over 4 yrs old. After just over a year of owning it, I started to get the fdl code, followed by the f11 code. After several visits they ended up changing one of the boards, not sure if it was the MCU or CCU. It has worked fine ever since, no errors for a solid three years. Yesterday, I washed an electric blanket. As soon as I chose normal I pushed start, the machine did the usual spray water, then lock. I had realized that I forgot to set the spin to low speed since it was an electric blanket, so during the spray, then lock I pushed pause to try to re-set the spin speed, so it paused, I set it to low, then started it back, then I got an f11 code. I said NO! NO! NO! I paused and started, it did it one more time, so I paused, started again, and it finished the cycle. I'm hoping that this was caused by the confusion of me "pausing" it during its initial spray, lock? Maybe it got confused..I don't know. I hope so. I've ran three loads since and nothing has went wrong. But I distinctly remember with my first go round with this crap, I could do many loads thinking everything was fine and then the ugly f11 would rear it's ugly head. Thankfully, I have the extended warranty which runs out in october of this year. So I have time to make sure.
