Take them both. I bought a female puppy Wheaten terrier 5 years ago, the breeder also had her brother. I've often thought about him, hope he found as good a home as my dog. Wish I'd asked to buy him , too. Twice the fun!

I see I confused my "left" and "right" again. (I had to carry a small rock in my left hand for two weeks during basic training to correct this problem! LOL)

Sam is the BROWN puppy. Samuel is the BLACK puppy.

I'd have to take both of them too. :o)

Looks like the black one is a bit bigger? I'm partial to the brown color,looks more like Harry, but it would be sooooo hard to choose!

I agree it's very difficult to choose, but if I were only allowed to choose one, it would be Sam the BROWN puppy.

IF I had to choose for a hunting dog...I would choose the black one.He looks bigger and more inquisative than the brown one.Brown one looks a little shy,but can't really tell from pics so it isn't fair for me to say that!If I didn't have to choose,I'd take them both! LOL! (That's why I have SEVEN dogs!)

Awwww, they belong together. The black one looks so smart. I do like the brown one, but they both would be riding home with me..yep, I'm a sucker! :)

Get them both! That is what we did when we got our Boxers as babies. No regrets! They will be good company for each other, see they are already bonding. I really think that you won't be sorry. Beautiful babies!

IF I just HAD to choose, I'd probably pick the Sam (those eyes just melt my heart)....but I'd be wheelin' & dealin' to get both of 'em!*S*

We just had a similar conversation last night at dinner. We've always had dogs and usually more than one at a time. But they've always been different ages. But after 30 years of raising dogs we've decided that our best experience was the last one- nine years ago we got two litter mates, a brother and a sister. They've been the best companions not only to us but for each other.

So I would opt for both of them too if possible.

I would choose the liver...a purebred German Shorthaired should NOT have black on them.

The coat may be of solid liver or a combination of liver and white such as liver and white ticked, liver patched and white ticked, or liver roan. A dog with any area of black, red, orange, lemon or tan, or a dog solid white will be disqualified.

They are both fabulous looking pups, Caroline and I hope you get them both. They'll play with each other and Harry will get a break from having his ears chewed on!

Hi Vickey...that is true, for the German Shorthairs, but these pups are not German Shorthairs. They're a similar, but totally different (with different breed combo backgrounds) breed, registered and bred through a German organization. They're Deutsch Drahthaars (even more confusing since that means 'wire hair'; but they're not 'German Wirehairs, either! LOL)

The Drahthaar breed does not have a "physical standard" as most AKC breeds do. "Looks," other than solid, strong, and able to hunt long and hard, are the last consideration for a Deutsch Drahthaar.

DDs can be any shade of black or brown, with any degree of markings - or not - solid color or not, bearded or not, tall or short, and range in size from 40-85 lbs.

Their only requirements are that the parents be registered DDs that have passed all four of the breed-standard hunting tests and be hip-dysplasia and physical deformity free. If they meet these standards, which is extremely hard to do, the DD organization issues breeding permits. The qualifying dogs are allowed only three litters during their life between ages of 3-9, I believe. They have to be matched up and bred with other qualified and approved DD mates.

My brother hunts English Setters and a Large Munsterlander.
He cut his hunting teeth on Brittany Spaniels and an English Springer.

He seems to have keyed in on the English Setters because his newest dog is another one. LOL

Well, there you go, basing your decision on looks alone! ;) I'd want to see if they're gun shy, check the personality, reactions and the like for hunting and as a companion pet.

That said, I'm admittedly partial for the browns.... Brittany and Springers have a special place in my heart (the liver/brown), but again, that's looks. I learned a long time ago not to base decisions on looks. Some of the best animals have been some of the ugliest! Including wome,er, nothing. Ahem.

Take the pair. They can work the fields together. The little guy will do the down-low and the big guy takes care of the airborne! Although the paws on the "little" guy suggest he might be a bigger boy than expected.

Feed 'em well, get 'em fixed... Enjoy them!

So which one does your husband want? Anxiously waiting to hear which pup you're getting or if both are coming home....

Not a GSP, wow could have fooled me, they look just like them, and not like the Wired haired--Drathaar. Beautiful dogs still...I'd still take the liver/brown one!

Caroline, with my retrievers, we test them at a young age for traits that are innate and good for the field work. Birdiness, courage, willingness to work with humans, forgiveness (for training), and other things. Did your breeder do initial testing at 7 or 8 weeks?

if $$ is not a problem, i say get them both :D
