Cabinets installed, need help choosing pulls and granite. PICS!
Comments (5)Kristine - your cabinets are beautiful!!! I love dark granite also. Most of the pictures I've been looking at have lighter granite with darker cabinets, but I personally think the dark granite looks very nice. I'm doing cream cabinets with a dark island & will have dark granite on both. I'm not sure about fingerprints - I have 3 kids also, so I'm interested in that response. I don't know if 1 1/4" is enough for cup pulls - I think mine are 2" & its going to be tight, but since you have a raised panel it might work. Can't wait to see your finished kitchen pics!...See Morewhat granite edge did you choose and why
Comments (106)@Corlett, I did wonder about that. We had a home that had countertops with a 90 handle and it was chipped to point it would put tiny little holes in my shirt when I was at the sink. Def don't want that again. As a matter of fact, I truly want a flat polished edge, but worry that we'll have the same chipping issue. Any suggestions for something that would go well with an eased edge?...See MoreHelp me choose my granite, narrowed down to two (pics included)
Comments (34)patty Congrats on your remodel I guess I would ask what other elements are in the room? what color appliances, hardware, stools, furnishings, natural light, window treatments, rugs, wall color, lighting etc I can't see the flooring - posting a pic may help Picking a counter is very individual & we all "see" differently You noted a natural tumbled backsplash as likely - I read the TB - as warming up your palette - your cabs are considered cool - so I my initial reaction is I prefer that - I like warm/cool elements but again depends on the rest of the palette & your personal taste The NC reads cool to me - If that is used the rest of the elements should be cool - fabrics, hardware, wall color etc - or you will have colors that are fighting each other - a honed crema marfil backsplash wouldn't work, but a carrara would - tan/beige paints wouldn't work, but blues/greys would Another twist you could consider is having each sample honed & see if that helps to make a decision - that will give you 4 options and also sounds like you have some room to negotiate with the stone yard esp on the TB they want to move - offer 20% discounted pricing on that one if that is the one you would like, even if not, that may help to drive the decision Good luck...See MorePlease help me choose a granite color? Comments (8)Congratulations! Your cabinets look beautiful!! I would not go with the two different granites. Not because of the size of the space, which by the way is not small. Most of the kitchens that I've seen with two different countertops, also had a different cabinet color on the perimeter than the island. Since your island will match your perimeter, I think you should keep the countertops uniform as well. Of course that is just IMHO. As far as color, I think you should go with a dark granite to give some contrast. Since your cabinets and floor are so close in color, a lighter granite would look too monochromatic. A dark, rich color on the counter would really make the cabinets pop. I would even avoid the browns and go with a black or dark green or dark blue granite for some interest. I think Volga Blue or Verde Peacock would look great. Soapstone would be gorgeous! Good Luck! Susan...See Morehuango
