No Miele -- No Bosch!! What is 3rd Best!!!

Miele is too expensive. Bosch does not fit under arborite properly. My heart is broken!! Now what do I buy. CR says to buy a GE. I read all the GE and I think they will break my heart. Salesman says buy Bosch and have it stick out in the middle of the room. Bosch is the best. I guess I am too design conscious to do that. LG or Whirlpool. What think all of you. Help and double Help.

I've sold more of the LG models than any other one we carry...and have yet to have a complaint on them. Right now LG models are priced very very well...and I think they are some of the most competitive models on the market. I would consider the Samsung lineup. They, more than any other, appear to have been studying the Miele and improving areas in their machines that Miele has yet to do (e.g., the washing machine door seal on a Miele always has a little puddle of water at the bottom; Samsung has designed a water channel in their seal to alleviate this annoyance). Samsung has also developed their own derivative of the Miele honeycomb drum pattern. In reviewing their other appliances Samsung is rapidly redesigningÃfor the betterÃtheir entire lineup.

Understand what you're saying. Water-leaks are always bad news. I had one recently with my water heater and the damage was significant. With pressurized water, even small events can have big consequences. Said "over-reaction" because, from your description on the plumbing forum, the cause of the leak is likely simple, relatively common, and easily repaired even though the consequence was large and annoying. Although it never should have happened in the first place, the repair should be expected to last indefinitely. If you want different racks, that's OK too. However, you did say you liked the machine until the leak occurred so that dissatisfaction is new to me. Stuff happens. Repair it or get a new one. Either way, you'll be fine again.

I have a Miele 4840 and was in the showroom at Beverly Hills last week and I asked about the mildew. Told the showroom reps that I wiped out the rubber around the door to avoid mildew and they said I did not have to do that at all. Just close the door. I don't need to leave the door open to dry it out. I live in Orange County CA so our humidity here is about 50-60% on average. I had an old Maytag FL which I loved and had the mildew problem on that seal and bleached in monthly. Never had a problem or the smell that some people had. Was lucky I guess and never had a mechanical problem. Would have bought another one but they are now Whirlpool. If you haven't bought your washer yet I would pick one that the controls are set up for what you need and like. I liked the extra 4th rinse of the Maytag that could be selected as part of the wash cycle. Only one selection on the Miele-sensitive- gives you a 3rd rinse automatically. There is a Quick Rinse selection but you have to set it separately so look at that before you choose. And there is no literature that I know of that describes the number of rinses with each selection. You have to ask Miele. I found that the sales people at stores are not that versed in this brand. I have a Miele double oven, warming drawer and hood and love each one. Miele has a new hood that I like better. because of the lighting. The hoods are noisy though. good luck.

Thanks everyone! Maybe they need to start marketing their DWs a bit differently! Lol. I'm so glad that I'm not totally crazy for thinking about using the top 3rd rack for kid supplies. It seems like the small plastic stuff is neverending, and the baby is still only on bottles and refusing solids; adding another kid to sippy cups and snack traps will be crazy. A little spin off from my original question, but I'll try posting in here before I start a whole new thread. Does anyone know about how much a custom panel costs? My builder is on vacation for the next week and a half so I can't ask him. I'm wondering if it would even be an option for us to get a panel ready DW. I can get an idea about the price of the DW, but what about the actual panel from the cabinet company?

Ccwatters, I’m glad you are not offended. I thought when you said “picking my comments apart and arguing each ” and characterized others posts as “speculative” that you were. Even your last comment about “criticism” has that connotation. Good to know you aren’t. Yes, you did thank both of us and others, but when I said “ask follow up questions” I meant asking specific questions of the people who posted, especially the new owner. I do understand asking for newer reviews. Sometimes people comment about a brand they have had for 15 years when there have been several model changes so the comment is no longer valid. The Wolf M is in the sweet spot of a fair amount of threads and no real changes. Wolf is in kind of a conundrum. They can’t really admit to the chipping problem, yet they made the bottom replaceable. If you have read all the threads about the chipping and uneven browning and were assured, then you made the best decision for you. If you don’t have that browning on the sides, that is wonderful. I always take people at their word as to what they say happens in their own kitchen and this is also why the posts about uneven browning concern me. I just post to bring awareness to the issues reported here that you will not hear about by anyone marketing a product, and people can make their own decision. I’m aware of how the message system works but I believe comments need to be public as they may benefit someone down the line reading this as a later point.

What about the bosch axxis models instead of the nexxt ones??? the Axxis are smaller dimensions and a bit smaller tub, but equally well built.

I really want the biggest washer I can afford so that I can wash our blankets. It is so expensive to have your blankets dry cleaned and so hard on them. I will check out the Samsung and LG. Please keep the comments coming. The Bosch Nexxt is designed so that l0 to ll" sticks out from the arborite of 27". I just wonder what everyone else does that owns a Bosch Nexxt. I keep on thinking there must be a solution and I can't figure it out. Back to Samsung and LG. Thanks for comments and please keep them coming.

Has anyone considered the Whirlpool DUET Steam Family of Front load Washer and Dryer (Steam in both units)???

The dimensions for the Whirlpool DUET Steam FL Model WFW 9600T are 38"H x 27"W x 31.5"D.

According to Consumers Reports in Canada - The Whirlpool DUET scored in the top two, yes TWO!

I don't understand what this "arborite" is that the bosch will not fit under... How/where would you be installing the machines and is it immpossible to remove the 'arborite' wo that the Bosch would become an option?

My bosch machines are facing each other inside a closet, not on pedestals. I use the top of the dryer for folding/stacking sometimes, and the top of the washer for holding the detergent. I have a rod that hangs across the closet and hang all that hangs as soon as removing from the dryer, and then typically take the rest to my bed (next room) to fold and then take to the appropriate rooms when all is done.

I guess I need a better feel for your installation...

You might look at Asko. I have Asko machines and regularly wash full and queen size wool blankets. The apparent size of the machines is deceiving. The only blanket I can't wash in my FLs is a queen-sized Hudson Bay five-striper. 'Nuff said.
