Hey! Happy weekend to all y'all! What's everyone up to this weekend??

Spring has sprung down here and we had a little taste of summer with temps in the 90's this week. Opened the pool this week and will spend some time on that tomorrow ans finally start working in the flower beds. Heck, we had a hard freeze just a week or more ago. Suppose to rain/storm on Sunday so I plan doing some indoor painting. I miss the Friday crowd....check in if you can!

We're off to dinner (Indian food) with friends tonight, a memorial service tomorrow with a funeral lunch (hey LindaC), babysitting tomorrow night and more of the same on Sunday. Somewhere in between I need to grocery shop, pay Mom and Dad's bills and do some things around the house. Life is full! Have a good weekend everyone! I'll clink with some Perrier at dinner!

Tomorrow morning we're going out for breakfast with my cousins who are visiting their son here for several days and tomorrow night we're going to see Albert Herring (a Benjamin Britten opera). My cousin's son has the lead role in the production.

Max put in a small garden this year and so far he has planted lettuce, Swiss chard, radishes and four or five herbs. We have tomato plants inside in a sunny window waiting to be planted in several weeks. We also bought a small potted Meyer lemon, one inch trunk and about two feet tall. Wish us luck with that! I know he'll be working some in the garden.

Hope you all have a sunny weekend, after several days right around 80Â° here, the weekend forecast is for temps around 60Â° and clouds and scattered showers. It could be worse; we will still have some snow in May.

Gee David, I've enjoyed the days here that were right around 80Â° but I am not ready for 90Â°.

I'm sorry you have to attend a memorial service Ellen, but the rest of your weekend sounds nice.

Diane, we are NOT getting older. Nope, we're not. 2013 sure flew, though. Lars, I'm sorry December was so difficult for you, I hope January is much better, and all of 2014. I'm sending you hugs, and some to Kevin too. Grainlady, here I have the world's best neighbor. He has a snowblower on his lawn tractor and always clears the driveway. In return I bake him bread. It's a great deal for me! Katie, beans and cornbrad sound really good, I need to get some more of those mayacoba beans, I like them a lot. Rob, you are definitely way late on the gloves. My problem is that I can't seem to do anything with gloves on, so whether it's pumping gas or shoveling hay, I end up pulling the gloves off anyway. Ellen, enjoy those grandkids. I have the Princess and Bud here for the night, so they baked cookies with Elery and we'll have Nutella Crepes for breakfast. Here I finally got garlic into the dehydrator, it was starting to sprout in the cellar. I had planned to keep some for seed garlic but since I put the house up for sale in October and my nephew was still living at the farm, I didn't know where the heck to plant it. So, all that heirloom garlic that Katie sent me is now dried garlic. (sigh) Maybe next year. Tomorrow we'll take the kids home and feed the stock and fill tanks. It was a high of 10F here today and about -3 when I went to the farm. It'll be in the single digits to below zero until the middle of next week and then warm up, but we have "dangerous wind chill" alerts going from Sunday until Tuesday. It's hot here too, my inground pool has water that's hovering in the high 80s to around 90, not very refreshing but better than nothing. Lars, Elery had a hot tub which was nice in the winter but we never used it any other time, so he sold it to his son. It felt really good to run outside in the snow and then jump into that hot tub though. I'll be watching for pictures of your yard work! David, I hope you get your pickles canned. I ought to be canning here already, but it's just too darned hot. Alexa, enjoy the cars and the music. Diane, TWO weddings in one day? Wow. I agree, though, double cake! Wow, Melissa, what a great haul of blackberries. Put them in the freezer and make jam later, though. Even as far north as here in Michigan the temps are in the 90s in the day, 70s at night. It's just weird. shaun, congratulations to your son! Gina, I'd also like to see how your renovations are going, I'll bet they're beautiful. Grace, good luck with that move. And homemade blueberry liquor? How do you make THAT and what do you do with it? Here I watched my niece and namesake, Angel, win a blue ribbon at the county fair for Western Pleasure, another blue for English something-or-another, a blue in barrel racing and a second place in flags. It was fun, she's 12. We made a side trip to the local farm market and bought red potatoes, corn on the cob, parsnips, beets, some SunGold tomatoes and a pint of fresh raspberries that we ate on the way home to save ourselves from having to make dessert, LOL. Elery is here, tomorrow he's going to finish painting the house while I go to the farm to run the rototiller and pick beans. I think Amanda and Dave are going to bring the kids for a cookout and a swim in the pool later in the day, we'll start working early in the morning to miss the heat, it's supposed to be hot again tomorrow. Happy Canada Day to all the friends up north! Annie, have fun with the kids, Rob clink to you and the good news. My younger son cut his foot pretty badly at swim practice this morning, so he and I are staying home and keeping it elevated and making him all his favorite tasty treats, and watching movies and playing cards while DH and other son are going to a pool party. Tomorrow is the big parade, street fest, etc etc etc and fireworks. Sunday we are going to a friends house for a BBQ and Monday is a repeat of Sunday. Lots of good times with great friends and tasty food and drink. Happy and safe weekend all and take a moment to reflect on those who have given all for us to celebrate our freedom. Alexa

It's been so very warm here and the humidity is up to 79% so I was really sweating it out at my Pilates class this morning. There were just two of us and one instructor there today so she had us working out a little easier because of the heat. No AC in the gym. Came home and after cooling down made a salmon lunch and after dishes I had a long snooze. We're starting on a new tiny patio in a sunny corner of the garden that has a perfect view of the volcano and early this morning our gardener was busy digging up a small tree which has been growing where we want to pave. It will be just a small suntrap corner surrounded by walls of the house on 2 sides. So I'll be off perhaps tomorrow looking for some sale priced garden recliner chairs and a little table. Would also love one of those swinging setees but I don't think there's room for that. Even though we have sunny winters, this corner always gets the late afternoon sun at a time when the rest of the garden is shaded.....just the right place for sitting with a coffee and a book as the sun goes down. Other than that I have to get my Christmas shopping done for mailing to my family in Canada. Parcels will have to be sent airmail as it's already too late to send seamail (needs 2 1/2 months). I'll probably take the car downtown and shop only in air conditioned places if this heat keeps up. Have a good weekend everyone! SharonCb

Hey Big Guy, 90's? We haven't even gotten that hot.

Ellen, Babysitting!! Not fair. I asked if we could take Beau to Gainesville to see the Gators play Arkansas but no luck, so I guess I'll pout all weekend.

Lee, guess we were posting at the same time. Albert Herring sounds wonderful. We finally planted our last two tomato plants tonight. With 6 plants we already have 18 "almost ready" tomatoes.

Checking in....thanks David. I have been having some computer issues. IE 8 didn't like something I guess and has been giving me fits. Finally may have gotten it straightened around...it just better behave now.

Had a beautiful day here today...not 90's, just up into the high 70's. Worked outside in my flower bed and it really felt good. Hope I can move in the morning...:)

Ellen, you have a busy weekend ahead...that's good.

Lee, I am amazed at how well you sound, it does my heart good, after that big scare.

Cathy, don't pout...just go shopping!

Hey Lou, don't work too hard!

It's supposed to rain most of the weekend but I have plenty to keep busy inside... tomorrow night is a cancer fund raiser that we are attending and Sunday...I rest!

Last night (Fri) we had a BBQ (impromptu) at a friends...today I will work on my beds and lawn,,,,tonight cocktails,firpit and my hot tub ...is definately in the plans...suppose to be in the high 80's today and tommorrow...I'll be gardening to my Jimmy Buffett double cd...its the only way to go!!!!

TGIF, all! Oh, I wish we were gardening. Last week it was 79F, so I scheduled a few days off to clean up the mess that winter left. Yesterday we woke up to a winter wonderland and by the time it melted we'd lost our outdoor incentive, so it was bookkeeping and housework for me.

Today it's windy and cold, with more snow/thunderstorms and lows to 25F next week...yick. I think I'll go rake before the next front moves in, then curl up with something hot and spiked.

No plans tomorrow, other than baking bread and enjoying having three whole days off in a row.

Hope everyone had a great Friday - I snuck out to a garden center and bought my herbs for my little kitchen herb pot.

David - enjoy the pool! It is going to be in the 90's here too and our pool isn't open yet (pout).

Ellen - sorry about the memorial service, but enjoy the kids and the rest of the weekend.

Lee - I JUST found my lettuce seeds I bought to plant LAST year. I will probably plant them anyway, whats the worst that can happen - low germination rate? Still better than if I leave them in the package LOL!

Cathy - Sorry you are going to miss the Gators/Arkansas game. I bet it was a good one.

Lou - I have a bunch of yard work to do to, wanna compare lists?

Nancy - enjoy your weather and gardening. We went straight from freezing cold rain to 90's - it rots!

Eileen - enjoy the Jimmy and the garden and the hot tub!

Katie - I cant believe you have SNOW! YIKES!

I am about to *CLINK* a big one to toast the NFL Draft which kicks off in just a few minutes. THere is hope on the horizon! LOLOL! Then it is off to the Swim Team Fundraiser Dinner and tomorrow is BBQing at a friends house.
