Today is my 39th wedding anniversary and we are going out to dinner tonight at a place that has the best seafood in town...pics to follow...
Tomorrow we are headed to California (2 hrs away) some friends to visit and elk meat to pick up from another friend. As Rachael says "Yum Oh"

It's still early here..so I've not had anything to drink but a glass of water..but Vanilla Chai sounds good..so I think I'll set the tea kettle on for a sip myself!

No plans at all for the weekend..Shocking! It's because football season is over for my crew, and basketball starts in a few weeks..so I have a few weekends of nothing!
I'm so sure I could find things to do...but I may just totally waste the days away! LOL

Just yesterday, I was thinking what an accomplishment it will be for me to make it to 18 in February...:-)

Terri, enjoy your weekend of nothing...those occur so rarely, you should definitely just bask in the nothingness.

Hi Diane - it's hard to believe it's that time of year again...have you had any snow? We had a dusting a couple times in the past few days but nothing more - and now up into the 50's next week.

Tomorrow night we will go to the annual Guy Fawkes bonfire at some British friends' house - hopefully it won't be too cold - last year was brutal - but the year before that it was like summer.

Sunday we are going to a benefit for the local Arts Council where there will be a silent auction. Hopefully it won't be too crowded. It's at a bistro about 1/2 hr away.

Will has a b'day party during the day Sunday - I think that's all.

sheesh, do I have any dress up clothes? better go check. I may have to go shopping this afternoon. darn.;-)

Terri, this is nice weather to waste the days away.

Today I have a rare day at home alone. We're in the middle of refinishing our floors, so the place is a shambles...I think I will spend most of this cold rainy day trying to finish the next book for our discussion group.

Tomorrow is work, and then a 'semi-formal' Chamber dinner. It will be interesting to see what semi-formal means in a logging town, hehe.

Sunday will involve loud sanders and dust collectors. If we can get the floors ready to finish, we're going to take a break next week and head to Seattle for a couple of days. Trader Joe's, here I come!

Monday is a holiday, but I have a chance to spend the day at a workshop with (get this, Jessy!) Nancy Pearl. Can't wait to tell her about how I got her last book.

Oh I forgot..Kamren has two engagements..AKA Birthday Parties..one tonight and one Sunday Night(since there is no school Monday). Both at the local Pool. LOL Which means I have some shopping to do! LOL

Today's weather is weird..Atleast up here..It's a bit breezy..and is that weird golden glow..but you can't see a single color in the sky but grey haze. Hmmmmmmm LOL

I do have some prunning I need to do..so I guess between the rain drops..I can work on that..

It's been so very warm here and the humidity is up to 79% so I was really sweating it out at my Pilates class this morning. There were just two of us and one instructor there today so she had us working out a little easier because of the heat. No AC in the gym.

Came home and after cooling down made a salmon lunch and after dishes I had a long snooze.

We're starting on a new tiny patio in a sunny corner of the garden that has a perfect view of the volcano and early this morning our gardener was busy digging up a small tree which has been growing where we want to pave. It will be just a small suntrap corner surrounded by walls of the house on 2 sides. So I'll be off perhaps tomorrow looking for some sale priced garden recliner chairs and a little table. Would also love one of those swinging setees but I don't think there's room for that. Even though we have sunny winters, this corner always gets the late afternoon sun at a time when the rest of the garden is shaded.....just the right place for sitting with a coffee and a book as the sun goes down.

Other than that I have to get my Christmas shopping done for mailing to my family in Canada. Parcels will have to be sent airmail as it's already too late to send seamail (needs 2 1/2 months). I'll probably take the car downtown and shop only in air conditioned places if this heat keeps up.

We have a quiet weekend in store for us. Our usual once-a-month brunch group isn't meeting this weekend due to everyone else having full schedules. We are invited to friends' for dinner tonight so I won't be cooking.

Husband gave platelettes (sp?) this morning at Sloan Kettering for a very sick 4 year old we know. I can't give but will contribute by cooking some dinners. Its hard to believe what some tiny tots have to endure.

I took a very long walk in the park with a friend this morning, at first in a light drizzle but then just a fine mist. Boy are the leaves beautiful for this late in the season(in Brooklyn)and the misty weather serves to enhance the drama of the landscape. We walked around the lake, watched the swans and ducks dipping, preening, and floating lazily in the water. It seemed around every corner there was another stunning shade of yellow, orange,red, pale or dark green. It really is magical. Walking in the park sometimes I forget I'm in the middle of an major urban environment! No wine right now, I'd rather a cup of Earl Grey so Clink-clink and have a restful weekend.

Mimsic, good luck to that 4 year old, just the age of Makayla. I hope everything turns out well and good for your hubs, donating platelets.

Diane, I hate to stack wood too but with the cost of gas and oil...Grandpa used to tell me that wood heated twice, once when it was cut and stacked and again when it was burned. I still hate to stack!

Katie, semi-formal? I've never quite figured out what that was. (grin)

Sharon, I sure don't envy you your heat, but it sure seems strange that we're talking about Christmas already.

This weekend? I hope to have a quiet weekend here, Elery is coming up tonight but he has to leave Sunday morning. I have Monday off work and Tuesday the boss and I are going to a presentation put on by the Municipal Employees Retirement System. She says we're going to "find out how much they'll pay us to not work". (grin) I have to go to the farm, of course, Dad already called to tell me I needed to bring chicken feed. My furnace needs a new belt and I need to get a couple of windows covered before the cold weather really hits.

sorry, diane. stacking wood is NOT fun! but it's not a bargain either--at least not in our neck of the woods. this year the best price we could get was $210 a cord and that was for GREEN wood, fercryinoutloud!

and congratulations again linda--that is quite a significant accomplishment--wishing you many more years to come!

good luck with your project katie. i don't envy you at all for now. but when it's done, i'm sure you'll be thrilled! i know i sure would be!

i think your idea of a little patio for the last of the day's sun sounds just perfect, sharon. and i envy your current scene, mimsic. we know how late in the season it is by the fact that "our ducks" are becoming more and more scarce. not too many of them left.

course, i envy annie's scene even more! visiting a retirement board? YAHOO! now that would be an absolute thrill and one i hope to experience before i'm too old to understand what they're telling me :)

i do have something fun on the horizon though--my old buddy tommi and i are doing our patriotic duty (since my little town no longer has a veterans' day event) and starting the holiday shopping. since neither ted or i need much, it gets harder each year to find a few fun things to put under the tree. but we're gonna give it our best! hope everyone enjoys their time!
