Howdie and happy friday!

Today and I taking a departure from my routine of caring for my mom (sil will take that one today) and going to a farmers matket and hours drive away. Its near Lancaster-Amish country!! I guess I am scouting places for the proposed get together in the spring.

Plus I feel like I need to het out of town for awhile.

Tomorrow is a work day but Sunday I am off!!

Maybe a run to Atlantic City...maybe Cape May???

Next week will be grueling with the funeral for the cop I know but today I will focus on new life. A pal I work with and his girlfriend welcomed their son Andrew into the world yesterday. Gotta love the name!!

Hope everyone survived the trick or treaters!!

i hope you have a great outing, susie! sounds to me as if you really deserve that! let us know what goodies you find at the market.

as it so happens, i'm getting ready to head out over the border into MA. a friend's 48-year old son had a heart attack over the weekend and his services will be held in peabody. i just can't imagine that.

i hope to hit a store or two on my way back and perhaps find some interesting goodies for the dinner table. even if not, i'm sure we won't be going hungry any time soon! here's a clink of my water bottle to you!

Susie, as you know, law enforcement is "family" to me, my condolences to the extended family of the Philadelphia officer.

San, my sympathies to you and your friend, 48 is just too young, it makes me remember why I decided to "get healthy" while I still had the chance.

Both you and Susie and your friends and families will be in my thoughts, along with Lou who is saying goodbye to Ginny. There is a lot of sadness in my heart today.

My weekend? I'm leaving work at noon to go with Elery to visit his Dad and stepmom. His stepmom owns, among other things, a dinner theater. We're meeting Elery's sister and BIL there, along with his folks. They are in Ohio, so we'll spend Saturday night and drive back Sunday. This is going to cause some family contention because (a) he only got one motel room although we are not yet married and (b) we're not staying for the several hours long church services on Sunday. It's not my family, so I'm just along for the ride, the red-heded floozie that led the nice Southern Baptist boy astray, LOL.

I'll come back home on Monday and on Tuesday I'm taking Amanda birthday shopping. I'll take Bud and Makayla to Chuck E Cheese because Makayla needs booster shots and she's going to be unhappy, so I'll make her a bit happier with something to distract her.

Wow, a whole week? Our usually last a couple of days, unless they are something like murder or armed robbery, something very involved. It's definitely a learning experience, isn't it? I started my Friday with a telephone call at 4:58 am from my sister, telling me the animals were out. Ever try to find a black horse in the dark? LOL Fortunately they come when they are called, so I stood in the field with a nearly full moon shining and called. I had lead ropes and a bucket full of treats as back-up and sure enough, soon I saw shadows coming across the field toward me. A scratch and a pat and they were back where they belonged. The cows were nearly as easy, they'll follow that bucket of treats anywhere, so they followed it right in the gate. By the time the sun came up the hay feeders were full and so was the water tank. I fixed the offending fence and headed home by 7:30, I was only half an hour late for work! The rest of the day went better and today I got taxes done. Refund from the feds, but we owe the state. Just like every other year. I baked bread and molasses cookies, I'm supposed to go finish fence fixing tomorrow but we're supposed to get another foot of snow, perhaps some ice. We'll see. I have Monday off and I'm supposed to take the grandkids to Chuck E Cheese and take Amanda to get her bridesmaid dress fitted. We'll see if Mother Nature has other plans. Annie

I had a different picture in my mind of a metal smith class. One of my son's and I once took a blacksmithing class together. It was fun figuring out how that was done. Yours sounds fun too. We are having a gathering of friends for the first night of Sukkot. It will start at my friend's house and move to mine. Last year, we had a theme of Jewish food from North Africa and India. My friend is vegetarian so we do it as a dairy meal and it was fun exploring different Jewish holiday foods (and not long after our cooking forum North African virtual dinner). This year we are doing Italian Jewish cuisine. We will have the appetizers at her house: Challah (which my husband is making) and wine of course. She is doing olives, artichokes and mushrooms, and caprese salad. I'm making buricche which are small filled turnovers with an Italian puff pastry - I made the pastry last night and it is waiting in the fridge. The filling will be butternut squash. Also Fagiolini Conditi, a green bean salad. At our house we will have soups and desserts (the weather has cooperated by turning cool). She is doing a vegetable one and I'm making Zuppa di Cecci. Also farro salad. And crusty bread. She is making some kind of cookie. I'm making pears with port and stilton (not Italian, but I'd picked that out for Sukkot when Sharon posted the recipe before we chose our theme and it sounds so good - and a fall fruit dessert is so Sukkot). Also amaretti (we have enough dessert but the butternut squash filling calls for some crushed amaretti and I couldn't find any at the store so I'm making a batch). And a small panforte that I brought back from Italy. Haven't spent much time planning the drinks. Wine of course. Also planning on serving hot apple cider - a last minute addition because it has turned so cold in the evenings - also doesn't quite fit the theme but I figured people would want something warm to drink.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEREDITH!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!! I Bet Will would like to come party with ya...he thinks he's 18, ya know...and has no problem with older women...especially adorable ones like you...:-) And Sharon love that one - I've got to remember it - a business "gotta doo" how bout gotta doo-doo...that's more like it. Linda, that sounds fun - an open house? Especially when it doesn't involve you packing your things? yep. fun. I love to go out in the evening before anyone has their curtains closed, but they do have their lights on. I make Scott drive real slow, so I can catch a glimpse inside houses...he thinks I'm deranged. Am open house is right up my alley. :-) Sharon, thanks for the pic, I think. She looks amazing. I didn't do my yoga this AM, now I feel guilty. Katie sounds like a fun weekend of shopping! We're getting some snow now - off and on all day. The Time of year for lake effect. The ground is covered but nothing worse. Lori, I'm with Alexa - that statement - quietly in the middle of your post - caught me off guard. LOL Alexa - I'm anxious to hear how the party goes. did you guys buy a chocolate fountain? Or two? I'm interested. Wondered the pound capacity and what you think of them... We don't have big plans this weekend. Today was report card day so we better do something special with Will...:-) On top of that, he is finally feeling better. All that bronchitis carp is just about over...sheesh. Now he's off all next week - yea!!!!! I love it. Take care everyone - clink. Happy Friday!!!!!

My van is loaded and I am packed for the Pigeon Forge Pajama Party. I am waiting for Linda, Doucanoe, to call that she is at the airport in Chicago, and we are off to meet up with Sherry and Nancy. One night in Indy, then off to the cabin. We meet up with Cathy, Karen, David and May for a week of fun, food and relaxation.

Susie, Lou, San and all of you who are dealing with deaths in your circle, I'm thinking of you and yours.

I've almost finished packing and I'm ready to make the trip to PFPP 2007 in Tennessee. I'll drive to Houston in the a.m. to meet May (lowspark) at the airport and we'll fly into Tennessee together. Cathy and David will pick us up and off we go to meet up with Peppi, Sherry, Linda and Nancy! Looking forward to a wonderful and chilly week in the mountains. I just found out today that I need to get some Mace if I'm planning on doing any early morning walking. I'm a bit skeered of Bears;-)

Annie, knock em dead! I hope you have a great weekend and that this part of Elery's family will love you as much as every one else does.

I can't wait to hear reports from the Pajama Party. Peppi, I'm especially happy that you are getting a week off from all the care giving you normally do. Have a wonderful time.

I'm off to my biz now, I'll be solo for dinner and then just looking forward to a quiet weekend at home.

San, that's sad. Losing a child has got to be the worst, no matter what their age. I'll be thinking of Lou, also.

Annie, you are just a wanton woman, hehehe.

Peppi, have too much fun this weekend. I will be thinking of you guys (I guess everyone figured out a long time ago that I won't make it, sighhhh....).

DH and I are headed to Spokane with an errand and grocery list a mile long. He is (yay!) refinishing our floors, so there's no point in even trying to tidy up. Tomorrow is work and Sunday will probably involve sore knees and sander noise.

Whoa Hoo! I just finished the reports for the project from He!! a half an hour ago! I'm thrilled! DH & I are going to a Lions Club dinner tonight.

This weekend? Don't know. I just bought some cookie cutters to make fancy snowflake cookies. I might play with them this weekend.

I'll be looking forward to hearing about the Pajama Party. Wish I could join you!

thanx folks--it was a very nice service that was standing room only, and presided over by a couple of greek priests. one of them did an especially wonderful job speaking of "uncle danny's" loves--his family and friends, his faith and his local community. he even managed to get a couple of heart-felt laughs from a very teary roomful of people.

congratulations to your DH , gina--i hope you guys have a wonderful celebration! i also hope that boo will take pics of her snowflakes--this forum has been posting some incredible things lately!

but of course, maybe not many as incredible as that pic of poor cathy, "lolling around on the floor" not too long ago :) what an incredible social calendar parts of this crew have! i'm especially glad that peppi will get some quality time with the PJ crew--i hope it's just as fabulous as the last few get-togethers have been! looking forward to hearing all about it!
