How loud is the Speed Queen washer/dryer
Comments (13)One caveat...which is really a non-issue because EVERYONE who buys a Speed Queen does it. Government regs require that Speed Queen deliver their conventionally-designed machines with a fill-limiter that only "fills" the tub about 70% of actual full. Problem solved in about five minutes by removing three screws on the panel, tilting it forward, and adjusting a 1/4" limiter screw so that it fills all the way. Several youtube videos show how it's done. With zero previous experience, I accomplished this in minutes. Small deal, IMHO. After you do this, the tub will fill ALL the way when set to "full" but still allow smaller-fills by adjusting the panel-dial normally. I regard this gov't limit as quite ridiculous but that's what the manufacturer is saddled with. EVERYBODY who buys one of these machines does it. Otherwise, I would say the machine operates pretty much exactly like those Maytags of old except that 1) the tub is bigger 2) the agitation is better 3) the thing digests unbalanced spin-loads much better and 4) all rinses are tap-cold....no option for "warm" rinses....See MoreCan you measure your Speed Queen W and D for me?
Comments (3)I have this washer. Looking now at the installation instruction page listing measurements. cabinet width is 25.625" cabinet depth including control panel is 28" cabinet depth footprint is 26" without control panel overhang. cabinet height with control panel is 40.25" cabinet height without control panel is 36" drawing shows position of feet slightly less than above dimensions. dryer similar Suspect your limitation may not be dimensions of cabinets/footprints of the machines themselves but having enough room for the hoses and ducts behind. No big deal for washer but the dryer vent must have full-flow duct to operate as intended....which may give you dimensional heartburn....See MoreA few questions about the tl Speed Queen.
Comments (5)I checked on Speedqueen.com for the height dimensions & they don't have it with the lid up. I also called them & the tech didn't know & would have to measure one. He wasn't near one. I'll find out Monday from the appliance store. My problem is that if it's too high I'll just have to change my cabinets. I've been meaning to do that anyway. Then I would repair the Maytag until I do the cabinets. I have a repairman scheduled for Monday afternoon to fix the Maytag. I do have a contract on all my appliances, but thought it was time to get a new machine. The Maytag is 17 years old. I'm supposed to get a new transmission. It kept agitating while draining, but never went into a spin. Can't wait to get it fixed or get a new one. I am very careful putting in my sheets on each side of the machine. It's always with the king size. I think the rollover action is very strong. I've had it checked & they say it's washing as it should. I gave up. Sometimes I can get them to stay under water & just wash & rinse. If I have to untwist them to rinse, they are full of soap. I keep doing that until the water is clear. So much work. When people unravel clothes & put them in the dryer, they may be full of soap. I've also washed just one king size sheet to stop the twisting, but then that one turns into a rope. Sometimes I feel like I'm washing my sheets by hand. Very rarely do I have a problem in the dryer. I do know of a couple of people with some twisting in their tl Whirlpools. I don't want to buy another problem if I can help it....See MoreMamapinky....OMG, I want a top loading SpeedQueen

These forums are a community of regulars who often come in to chat, get information, and help each other out. They do not come here to be attacked. I've never found any of the fine people here to be small minded or be dismissive of opposing opinions. In fact, I've witnessed and participated in lively debate where the positive expression of opinions has opened others' eyes about a given subject. However, when you engage in name calling, belittling and putting others down, you will lose your audience and your message will never reach those whose minds you are trying to influence. For what it's worth, I own a FL washer (yes, a water saver), I am completely satisfied with how it cleans and I don't need a machine that sloshes clothes around in a tub of water. But you've even ostracized me from listening to your rants because of your belligerent approach. BTW - this forum has an informal rule to not "hijack" another person's thread with a different topic. If you want to debate water saving washers vs. water hogs, start your own thread....See More- 15 years ago
