I did something I don't usually do, I took a special order for something. I wonder if you can guess who requested it?

The actual birthing...

This was a challenge for me. I usually sew using someone else's patterns, for this I had to create one and that's a lot harder than it seems like it should be, especially hard because it is so 3 dimensional, rounded and figural. But I did it. It's all hand-sewn, using wool felt.

Do you like him/her/it? The sex is undetermined at this time and up to the new owner. I had fun making it, once I realized that it was going to work out. Up to then, I was wondering how long before it ended up in the trash! lol

LOL!!!! I bet it's going to Texas!!! That is too cool and I can't imagine how you did it without a pattern! Well, actually I shouldn't be surprised because I know how talented you are. It's perfect!

Hi Mike, It can take quite some time. I've rooted leaves in mix, that can take around a year. I've recently water rooted a stem, but didn't make note of the date I put it up. I took these pix, 'cause they show the round tuber AND the roots the plant develops. I really don't remember how long it took, but am guessing 9 months maybe, like from last Fall (I think I had accidentally broken the stem off the parent plant). and and So if you can grow some serious patience, you might end up w/ something like this. I think I'll take mine to my local Plant Society to pass around & show this development & then sell it at their plant sale table for a couple of bucks.

Rita dont get me wrong, its a fine daylily, but there are alot that look like that... and there is no advance in branching, or other charistics that would make it any more better than those.. Have a great fourth everyone.. I will be out of town next couple of days and am going to miss any new ffos , there were some that were going to open as well.. oh well! Silverkelt

I do the same thing in spurts with my knitting. I always have a project going, but I'm always looking around on the internet for different patterns, and in here also for new ideas. I find something that I like and then I order the yarn and there it sits, because by the time I finish my current project, I have found something else I want to do. I have enough yarn to make a prayer shawl and I was going to make a booga bag and then felt it so I have some noro kureyon and I have oodles and oodles of sugar and cream yarn for making dishcloths. I like to make them in sets and have a few for quick gifts. But yeah, I do like you do, buy the yarn and then wonder what I'm going to do with it. I subscribe to about 5 knitting magazines and there are lots of ideas in those all the time - some of them way too advanced for me, but I pick the ones I think I can handle.

Good for you, Gina!! Just "toot" all you want!!! Isn't it great when people start buying your treasures?? :-) I have a ton of winter projects waiting on me too. Fantastic collection from yard sales, flea markets, and "curbside shopping" on trash day!! DH finally realized he isn't going to stop me, so he made me a long stick with a hook on the end so I can retrieve all those goodies from dumpsters. I believe he thought it would be much less embarrassing to have me poking around in those dumpsters with a stick than have to call 911 to get ME out!!! :-) Have fun with your kitchen walls and HAPPY PAINTING!!! That is the cutest darned BUZZARD I've ever seen...well... with the exception of the REAL Buzzie!! I still think she needs to mount it on the top of a can of ROADKILL...LOL

Thanks, everybody. And no whining- Buzzard is paying thru the beak for this baby. lolol You should have seen me packaging and boxing this up, then taking it all apart and redoing it better, it went off double boxed. Yes, I'm paranoid about my babies getting smished!

That is about as cute as a buzzard can be! The frilly neck fringe and the bone perch just make it, in my opinion. And I love the egg/shell! You are so creative. I am telling you, I am getting closer to coming for that visit, my sewing machine in tow, for my lessons lady!

Yes, Flames did a wonderful job. I can't wait to receive mini me!

I had to give a notarized, sworn on the Bible statement that this buzzard would receive an excellent home and be protected from anything that might warp he/she/its widdle boid mind. Those of you who know me, know that part of the bargain will be very hard for me to keep. 8>)
