One Stroke Painting...tutting my horn LOL

Hi all, I started approx. 1 year ago with the one stroke painting. A friend suggested that I try it, I wanted to learn how to paint, nobody around here teaches painting of anykind..so she sent me a video and told me where to get supplies. Wal-Mart has some of the one stroke stuff..Anyway to make a long story short, I can paint and am making money at it!!! YIPPY!!! Going to a certification class in October of 2002...YIPPY!!

I love yard sales...get all my stuff to paint on from them, then have my own Craft/Yard sale and sell all the stuff I painted...

No more getting depressed in the winter months here, I can paint..when I run out of stuff to paint...well there is always the kitchen walls!!!LOL LOL LOL

Good for you, Gina!! Just "toot" all you want!!! Isn't it great when people start buying your treasures?? :-)

I have a ton of winter projects waiting on me too. Fantastic collection from yard sales, flea markets, and "curbside shopping" on trash day!! DH finally realized he isn't going to stop me, so he made me a long stick with a hook on the end so I can retrieve all those goodies from dumpsters. I believe he thought it would be much less embarrassing to have me poking around in those dumpsters with a stick than have to call 911 to get ME out!!! :-)

Hey Lyn!!!! LOL "Dumpster Diver"!!!! That's me too!!! Ever tried construction sites...oh, they are happy to give the lumber away!!! I find lots of stuff to paint on also, at thrift stores,goodwills,consignment shops...Happy Day there is someone out there that is a "Dumpster Diver" too!!!
Hubby didn't think too much of it until he saw what I could do with the "trash"..Now have him looking for stuff!!!

I see this is an old post but I'd love to know what kind of horned melon Rose had because mine are just nasty! Not only do you take your life into your hands risking serious puncture wounds picking the darned things but they have no taste and are not much more them a gelatinous mess inside. Is there anything that can be done with this fruit? I must have 50 of them and would have more but I got sick of looking at the vines creeping over anything within reach. These vines took up more space then a pumpkin and even started crawling up the brick on the side of my house. That was after they went up and over an azalea hedge! I'll never grow this again but I guess you could tell that from the tone of my post. lol Karyn

Chris: Great point! It's my fault, realistically speaking, and I blamed a better than average mix on the decline of my plants instead of bringing then in sooner than I did. My good friend has great success with that mix being better than most sold on the market, and in fact they grew wonderful in his care along with all his other beautiful plants. They grew wonderful in that mix under my care too, that is until the cold rains and lack of sun arrived, red flags I ingnored. They probably would not have declined if I had not left them in an enviroment that never gave them a chance to dry out. The gritty mix I use would of been more forgiving, but at some point one has to take responsibility and not blame a mix that is very close to what I use anyway, as you noticed and in this case Josh. I have several of her books and a video, but they are buried in the room that is going to be my craft room when I get finished with the rest of the house. I painted some sunflowers and a hummingbird using her method. The first hummingbird I did was pathetic; so was the second and third, but they got better and better until I could finally actually tell what they were. :) I also painted a mural on the wall of the room Anna used to have. It was wisteria and a picket fence. I don't remember what else was in it. It looked pretty good, but was definitely not professional looking. I am left handed and my main problem is with leaves. The instructions are given for right handed people. The instructions say for lefties to start at the opposite end and go in the opposite direction. That makes sense, but I think I could do better if I could actually see someone do it. I wish she would make a video for lefties. I plan to go to one of her seminars now that I'm retired. I had made reservations a few years ago, but had to cancel it because I couldn't get off from work. :( Linda

Hi Chris, So glad you found us and have shared some of your painting. Each one looks really good but like Phonegirl said, Photobucket is not letting us enlarge them just now for an even better look. I thought they had the problem fixed, but guess it still isn't always working right. I do a little bit of One Stroke painting too and love it. Just so fast and easier than doing the regular three steps of basecoating, shading and highlighting. I really need to practice more, I was doing it allot for awhile but haven't done much in the last year. Like everything, it's easier and better if you practice, practice, practice. LOL So what kinds of projects will you be using your painting on? Do you paint things mostly for yourself and gift items, or do you sell some of your projects? Come back and tell us more about yourself please. I've done several welcome signs, garden signs, metal trays, glass jars and a few candles. Don't sell, just for me and for gift items. Luvs

Gina....I started painting in'89 without any help other than books and videos...am also a One-stroke "junkie". Hope to someday sell my painted items but right now am being "framed" when I send my cards to chatbuds nationally. One friend has framed all 10 cards I've given her over the years....calls it the "Sam-wall" in her kitchen. Enjoy it. Go for certification & enthuse others with your job. I try.
