Kate, May I suggest that you switch a few over to wick watering...see how that goes....get a groove.....and then switch some more? I am a huge fan of wick watering...and recently, I switched about 100 of my plants to community wick watering. There are some people who believe that community wick watering is too risky for spread of negative things and I appreciate those beliefs. My plants have done much better with the community wick watering and I think it's because they are actually getting water (LOL). It's much easier and less time consuming to pour a gallong into the entire tray than take 10 minutes to water each individual plant on that tray so it's getting done more regularly (by me or my house sitter). I think the plants also like the humidity with that wide surface of water below it. They are thriving. You'll try several things...people will offer suggestions....you'll try them and learn what you do and don't like and then your plants will tell you what they do and don't like and you'll try some more things :) You'll learn and gain experience and then share that with others here and someone's life will be the better for what you share. Oh Kat, I wish I could be with you during your chemo. It may sound strange to some, but I have fond memories of my chemo buddies and all the laughs we shared while being infused. Can't think of anyone I'd rather be with. :) I've never forgotten what generous support I received from you and my KT family during my chemo and recovery. You'll always have my hand to hold and shoulder to lean on. It's a plus you are feeling so well at this time so you can charge ahead and defeat this damn cancer. Your KT Army is pulling for you!! Well Jane, I can top you on the losing weight part...I need to lose over 100 lbs. My hubby and I are both diabetic, my kids are overweight too. We spend too much time sitting around watching TV in the evening and no one exercises at all. The most exercise I get is cutting my neighbor's lawn along with mine although it has been so dry here the grass doesn't grow very fast to even have to worry about cutting it. The last year has been a difficult one for me. A year ago April my DH was laid off from his job which came as a total shock to us. We didn't have health insurance for over 3 months and the cost of our prescriptions killed us. DH was able to get another job but it doesn't pay as much as his last job and we have to pay a portion of our health insurance plus a bigger deductible for prescriptions. I tried to find a job, but I am profoundly deaf and unable to understand well enough to talk on the phone so that really narrows down the job selections. I don't have much confidence either, I mean it's been a LONG time since I had to work, I filled out a LOT of job applications but Michigan's economy sucks and there just isn't a lot of hiring going on. I did get a job at Christmas working nights stocking shelves at Dollar Tree. I was asked to stay on after Christmas but by my working nights nothing was getting accomplished...clothes weren't getting washed, dinner cooked, etc...my family is used to my being home and doing it all. It kills me that my kids have to help us pay bills. I was depressed until January 2007 when I decided that I couldn't change our money situation so I just need to take it one day at a time. My DH does a few air compressor repairs on the side and he gives me some of that money and tells me to spend it on myself to get craft supplies because he knows I enjoy crafting so much. I've tried to sell my crafts but haven't had much luck, people around here just don't have the extra cash to spend on stuff like that. Oh well, eventually things have to get better, right? Barb

Thank you all. I did speak with some other Grandma's I know and all said the same thing-yes, they were a little sad but overwhelmed with love when the new baby came. I'm sure I'll feel that way, especially as her pregnancy progresses. Today I had to take her to the doctor as she was so sick she couldn't even stand up. My SIL had taken Ro to day care and he couldn't get off work so I took her, she was happy to have me come along for her first appointment. Poor kid is so dehydrated they couldn't even get her veins to plump up enough to get enough blood for the tests. She'll get an IV treatment tomorrow, meanwhile she's gotten some anti-nausea meds and is drinking a lot of water, and her DH made her some soup tonight. She was feeling better when I left. I had the best time with my baby boy tonight-he's so silly right now-but he's now acknowledging me as Gremma so that's making it a little better for me, I was worried (unfounded!) he wouldn't ever be close to me! He's such a funny guy-had to feed me goldfish crackers and took off my glasses and put them on himself. I think I'm going to love being Gremma to his new sibling now that it's starting to sink in.
