Appetizers---Party Time?

Now that we all have our new copy of AnnT's appetizer chapter, do you want to have another party?

I'm thinking Monday May 5th or May 12, unless you have a better idea.

It's been suggested that we have a party after each new chapter. Hey, we have to cook something anyway... :))

oh YES! I totally had to skip the dessert one - bad timing - but since I make one of Ann's desserts each time I have to actually make a dessert, I let it slide... :-)

But I really want to join in! I hope you go with the 12th, I think - I am REALLY up in the air as I have to wait and see what I have to do with a jury duty summons..........................................you wouldn't want to do a weekend?

Stacy, I think that it worked pretty good to set Monday as the day with the idea that you could actually do the cooking on Sat, Sun, or Mon...

I can start the thread for posting the write ups and pics on beginning Sat with Mon being the day to post if there wasn't time on Sat or Sun. Like last time, I would also encourage late posts also...life does get in the way sometimes. So just think of Monday as being the 'goal' date.

Not to mention that the silly term "appies" is just plain annoying. :-) I would have more patience with this poster, who apologized for not having read the rules, if she hadn't then, a few minutes later, posted this one. Too bad, because, business motive or not, she does seem to have decent ideas about entertaining (think of some of the other garbage we've seen from spammers); she could've been a welcome contributer if she really were just a regular user, not someone fishing for business.

Surprise Cheese Balls. Keep 'em frozen then pop in the oven for 15 minutes. Surprise Cheese Balls 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated 1 stick butter, softened â¨1 cup flour â¨1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper â¨1/2 teaspoon dry mustard â¨1/2 teaspoon salt (I use a little less) â¨1 teaspoon paprika â¨1 small jar pimento stuffed olives (drained and wiped dry) or whole small pecans â¨Sift dry ingredients together. Cream softened butter and cheese then stir in dry ingredients. â¨Â â¨Take about 1 teaspoon of dough and flatten. Put an olive (or pecan) in the middle and wrap dough around it, then roll to make a ball. Put tray of balls in freezer until firm, then pop into Ziploc bags. Â Bake (frozen) at 400Â° for 15 minutes. Oweeee, my mouth is watering and I have already HAD breakfast! These menu ideas and traditional menus are awesome. ItÃ¯Â¿Â½s so interesting to see what everyone has for their traditional meals at this holiday! Since my family members are scattered all over the place in different locations, we are not having any type of traditional meal, and IÃ¯Â¿Â½ve been in a sour mood because of this separation during the holidays. We will have only our youngest son here with his new wife visiting from Chicago, and she eats only vegetarian, so IÃ¯Â¿Â½m trying to come up with menu ideas that will please her, as well as DH and son, who are big meat eaters. Will probably do some type of local fish, to please son who canÃ¯Â¿Â½t find it in Chicago, and lots of yummy vegetable sides. Suggestions are always welcome! All your menus sound wonderful!

Here's two I found, that sound interesting. I have not tried these myself. Have the Bloody Maters :o) BTW, I did dip the cherry tomatoes, for the Bloody Tomatoes in boiling water, and peeled them. Very time consumming. ------------------------------------------------------- Marinated cherry tomato appetizers 2 pt Cherry tomatoes, preferably -mixed colors, stems removed -cut in half 2 Green onions, white part -only, coarsely chopped 1/4 c Finely chopped parsley 1 TB Finely chopped rosemary, or 2 ts Dried chopped rosemary 3 Garlic cloves, peeled, ends -removed, minced 1/3 c Extra-virgin olive oil 3 TB Balsamic vinegar Salt, freshly ground black -pepper to taste Directions 1. Mix tomatoes, green onions, parsley, rosemary, garlic, olive oil and vinegar in a shallow bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Cover the bowl and let tomatoes marinate at room temperature at least 1 hour, but preferably 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Stir occasionally. serve with toasted garlic baguettes -------------------------------------------------------- Here's another: Ingredients 2 pints cherry tomatoes 1 cup olive oil 1 tablespoon ketchup 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1/2 cup red wine vinegar 1/4 teaspoon dried mustard 2 teaspoons salt 1 small onion finely chopped 1/4 cup chopped parsley 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Directions Place tomatoes in wire basket and lower into boiling water for 1 minute. Remove from boiling water and dip immediately into cold water. Make marinade by combining all remaining ingredients in a non-reactive container. Add tomatoes to the marinade then cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve with toothpicks

Having Brunch at my place for Mom's Day and a plant swap on that Saturday, and just too much going on now that spring has finally arrived!

I'd like to participate this time, but would have to do the actual cooking and serving of the appetizers on the weekend before since I have a night class on Mon. nites, 6-9 and work during the day.

I'm in too. Doesn't matter to me what day you choose. I might do a dinner of all appetizers.

I'd be up for it but it would have to be around the 12th. And as Ann stated, I just might do an all appetizer dinner as I love sampling lots of different things.

I just need to see what is up with Photobucket as to why I'm not being able to post pictures here anymore. My pictures are there but when I try to pull them over now to here, I get an error message on this board. I didn't have that problem in the past.

I'll play and I too may do a selection. The weekend preceding the 12th is best for me. Might make it into a cocktail party if we are at the lake.

I'm out of this one. I'm getting married on the 10th and I'll be....um.....occupied. LOL

I'll be sending honeymoon pictures from Joe's Gizzard City, though. (grin)

I'm on the fence for now...very busy month for me with birthdays, graduations, Mothers Day, and work. I'll try and join in if my schedule allows it. I'll be watching the posts for sure!

I can't do it the 5th, but maybe the weekend after that, but I don't know, that's Mother's day. I don't know if I can do it this month, I'm busy pretty much every weekend, too. I'll enjoy seeing what y'all make, though.

I need to take an appetizer to a get together on the 13th. This would be a good excuse to cook something out of the ordinary so count me in.

By the way, I'm kinda out of it, where do I find Ann T's appetizer recipes?

I would love to do the appetizer party, but don't think I will be able to with two birthdays, graduation and Mothers Day. But if I can I will and might just do it anyway even if not on the exact day.

Ann, thanks again for the recipes. I have enjoyed looking at the appetizer and dessert recipes and look forward to making many of them!

May 12 it is! I hope it works out for as many as possible. I know life gets in the way, but I figure it's only going to get busier!

Annie....you are excused! I hope you and Elery are going to be able to take some time off for a Honeymoon!!!! I'm just so excited for you two!!!!

I might plan to make my appetizers for dinner either on Friday or Saturday night, then post my pics on Sunday or Monday. Lots of nibblies make a terrific dinner in my book!

I'm still participating on the 12th, but decided to have an appetizer dinner last night too.

Warm goat cheese on slices of baguette, some with roasted red peppers and some with Tapenade,

Tuna Pate,

and Brie.

And to make it a little better we drank Champagne with it.
