Have you used the "Max Extract" option?

It's not a selling point, it's an Energy Star Requirement
(lower Dryer temperatures, and not over-drying like older Dryers)

Actually, dryers are NOT energy star rated.

However, it is true that most new dryers use sensors and don't overheat or overdry clothes like some old units did. This is gentler on clothes, and saves some energy.
You'd most likely experience shorter drying cycles if you used the same dryer as before. In addition to that, you might be doing larger loads now and that would of course increase the dryer time...

The dryer exhaust vent in the walls of your home could be plugged with lint slowing drying times. Did you have the vent thorougly cleaned before the installation of your new machines? Is there a strong flow of air at the exhaust vent hood outside your home?

Another thing to check is, the vent tubing behind the dryer that connects the dryer to the house vent.....is it kinked or crushed in any way? The shortest and straightest vent is what you want for optimal performance. See the installation guide that came with your new dryer!

I live in a 4 year old home. The design of the home is that the laundry room is in the center of the house which you enter from the garage, thus the dryer has to vent through the roof! I noticed when I first moved in here (home was brand new) how fast the clothes dried but as months went on, drying times increased....I took the dryer venting off the back, got a leaf blower and blew in the duct. I thought something was wrong with my dryer because that didn't help. I called service, the guys came out, got on the roof and told me that I had the WRONG vent cap on the roof. It was a vent cap that was for bathroom exhaust fans, not dryer vent caps. I called the builder, he sent someone out to put on a dryer vent cap. The lint still will accumulate on the cap outside. The roof pitch is extremely steep. I got up there once and couldn't believe how hard it was to stay up there. I was kind of freaked out. About every six months, I need to clean the vent cap off where lint sticks around the edges of it and builds up. I will never live in a house again where a dryer vents through the roof. AT any rate. I can dry a medium load in about 45 minutes, my largest loads take about 55 minutes.

I have NOT tried Max Extract. I need to look at the manual again but I guess it's not a complicated feature. I thought perhaps it was the washer that wasn't doing a great job, now I'm not so sure it isn't the dryer.

The point about having larger loads is a good one. Of course more clothes, etc. would take longer in a bigger load....And yes, the dryer actually is not energy star rated (are any?), only the washer. I thought that the energy savings came from not having to run the dryer so long.

My dryer is on an outside wall and there's about 12" of vent. It was replaced and cleaned inside/outside at installation. The new dryer WAS working fine...until I just checked a load a few minutes ago after a 40 minute "regular" cycle. Warm and completely damp (just kids' clothes). Kind of like it only dried for 10-15 minutes. Uh oh. That's the first time that's happened.

Although I don't have much vent, it IS curved slightly. Maybe that's an issue...The dryer was moved about 6-7 inches to the right and the installer had to bend the venting a little....the old dryer's vent went straight back into the wall.

If your dryer exhaust outlet and the vent in the wall of your laundry are offset, your vent should be arranged in a loop fashion behind your dryer. You should not have 2 elbows or bends in vent tubing too close together....doing so will cause undue back pressure in the vent; reducing air flow, increasing dry time and overworking your dryer!

You'll need a 90degree elbow on the dryer exhaust outlet and another on the wall vent. Using flexible metal exhaust tubing form a loop that curves upward to just below the top edge of the dryer and then bends downward to wall vent. The loop should be almost as wide as the rear of your dryer Doing this will permit a free flow of air and faster drying.

We have an old Whirlpool FL set. During the rapid spin cycle, it was ADDING water. We are the cheap sort, so I just turn off the water before I do the rapid spin. Clothes come out damp, but not wet. I dry in small loads grouping items of similar fabric and hang the clothes up before they are completely dry.

Sheets and towels stay in the dryer until they are totally dry, though.

Do the clothes FEEL dryer coming out of your new FLer than they did coming out of your former washer? If so...then the issue isn't the washer, it's the dryer. I know when we got our first FL ten years ago (a euro bosch...pre-curser to the axxis) I was astounded at how much dryer the clothes were coming out of it than my former Maytag TLer. I do most of my drying on drying racks...so it made an enormous difference.

Just put the washer on Max Extract and you should see a difference--faster, longer final spin. Using it without the Max spin is just equal to the spin of the top loaders--no real difference.

Will "Max Extract" produce significantly more wrinkling?

Yes if you don't use a dryer. But that is why I put small loads in the dryer and then put them on hangers. They are usually fine once they've gotten at least 'damp-dry" in the dryer.

Also you can use med or low heat to dry and damp dry clothes and there is much less wrinkling. Drying them bone dry seems to cause more wrinkles. When I say "damp dry" I mean almost dry but not quite.
