Has anyone shopped electricity rates lately?

I compared rates last year when I bought my house and got a pretty good deal with TXU. The year is up and I noticed with my last bill that I've been automatically switched to a higher rate and they no longer offer the plan I had, so I'm shopping around again. I think something has changed because it seems even more confusing that it did last year. I'm hoping someone can interpret some of this for me.

Example #1:

Gexa rate 0.088 per kWh at 2,000 kWh

Cost Components:

Energy Charge (per kWh)

$0.048

Monthly Base Charge

$4.79

Oncor (TDU)

TDU Delivery Charges (per month)

$6.15

TDU Delivery Charges (per kWh)

$0.0339

I don't remember the charges being divided like this before. Is the energy charge (0.048) and the delivery charge (0.0339) supposed to add up to the Gexas rate (

0.088)?

Example #2:

Direct Energy/Average price 8.8

Average Monthly Use/average price per kWh

500 kWh (10.0)

1,000 kWh (9.2)

2,000 kWh (8.8)

The price for this one is quoted as 8.8, but do you only pay that for anything above 2,000 kWh? If you used 1,400 kWh for the mth, does this mean you would pay 10.0 for the 1st 500 and then 9.2 for the next 900?
