Be thinking of Lou today.

Our friend Lou is going in for some work on his leg today to treat a circulation problem. Be thinking about him and hoping everything goes well for him. Those sorts of things aren't easy.

Lou, I hope you don't mind my posting this. You have a lot of friends here whom I thought would like to know.

LOL !!! ********************************************* But you are going the other way this year. Maybe I'll meet you guys in Ca., if I visit my niece. She just moved from Laguna Beach to Laguna Beach. Two miles away into a Condo. Last time I visited her, we went to Wyland Galeries. He does amazing Bronze Sculptures. On the way out, I asked him " how about an Autograph " He said OK, so I took out one of my cards and signed it, then handed it to him. Well, Don, I guess thank you? hehehehe Like olives, I had to acquire a taste for serpents. Or snakes. I mean, they were everywhere down in Louisiana AND south Texas where I worked. We had to watch out everywhere we tied up the boat, especially if under trees overhanging the bayou banks. I'll never forget the day I observed a tug boat crew with 4x4 long timbers stepping lively and beating the dickens out of something I could not see. It turned out to be a big rattler that was trying to go down an air vent into a compartment below. Cottonmouth moccasins open up and reveal how they got their name....totally white like a boll of cotton.....and the moccasin just as soon chase you as leave you alone. Not a peaceable critter at all. Do you remember the movie/book by Larry McMurtry LONESOME DOVE? The young cowboy falls off his horse in the stream, and by the time they get him out of the water he is already past saving? Yep, moccasins. Even the baby ones have enough venom to kill a man....or so I was told. And years ago, a young man (I knew his family) was water skiing on the river in springtime. He fell off and the same sort of thing happened to him as in McMurtry's book. But in naming my home MoccasinLanding, it was more the fear factor I called into play. There is a certain uneasy feeling comes upon one who anticipates encountering such an aggressive critter. And that kept people away from my uninhabited home for almost 20 years. That and the 6 foot long flattened snake I mounted on a board and hung from a tree by my dock. hehehehe. It was Louisiana roadkill flattened by an 18 wheeler. I made no claim that the snake was from MY yard! I live peaceably with snakes here, they are part of the ecosystem. At our river property, I see them regularly, not sure they are venomous or not. Not a problem, I simply watch where I step and make some noise and stay out of the muck. They like fish and frogs for dinner.

Thank you socks! I served in the USMC during peace time. I spent a year in a foreign country. My husband served in the Navy and was on a ship that was the first to fire on Beirut in 1984. My son and his wife are current full time members of TN Army National Guard. They have been deployed to foreign countries several times. Any time you perform a job that is not on US soil, your life is in jeopardy. There are many service members who are in jeopardy here in the US. Need I remind you of the recent incidents on our soil? You don't have to face "hostile fire" to be deemed a veteran. A veteran is anyone who served in the military; voluntary or involuntary. The job they performed or the experience they had has nothing to do with it. After reading ellendi6161's post, I agree with her and see Snidely's point from that perspective. I don't automatically acknowledge someone's service because of an over the counter hat, patch or other banner. If it comes up in conversation, I will talk about their service and what they did but I don't make a big deal about it. I don't make a big deal about MY prior service either! There are very few who know and I prefer to keep it that way. I made the choice to join the service and I enjoyed my time in. I would do it all over again without any regrets. I sometimes ride motorcycles with some former and current service members. There are those who wear ball caps, vests or some other adornment to indicate their prior service. The current service members are quite obvious due to how they keep their hair. During one long trip across the state, we stopped at sit down dinner chain restaurant. As people left, they walked past our table. Many people stopped and thanked all the MEN for their service. When I mentioned that everyone at the table was a veteran, the "acknowledgers" basically dismissed me. While I didn't get mad or anything, it was rather disheartening to know that women's prior service just didn't seem as important. To sit at a table of 14 people, be the only female present and have the prior/current service of the MEN be recognized was a bit of an insult to me. There are some non-veterans who feel they have to go above and beyond to recognize anyone who served. Those folks sometimes mistake those over the counter adornments as actual representation of those who served. You certainly cannot tell by looking at someone if they are prior military.

I intend to plant my latest acquisitions Sunday. Just had no time to plant them Friday and could not plant them today. They have been in a small container with water over their roots, under lights, where Zizu cannot reach them (that is a rare thing in my home--someplace Zizu the amazing leaper cannot reach). Coconut Custard's leaves have yellowed a bit, but there are new green leaves in the center. And, the plant fell into 2 complete but small plants. Can hardly wait to plant them Sunday. Smiling Sailor seems to be a green hosta with a small whitish streak up the middle of the leaves. Does not seem to be a popular variety. Oh well, it was free.

Thanks for your concern.

I don't know how I missed this Post but my Daughter said I was a little Groggy.

Used her Laptop on the way home.

I checked into the Hospital at 7 AM and was there all day.
Don't remember what time I got home.
In fact I don't remember too much of the whole day.
Have to go back tommorrow to take off the wrappings and for a follow up and X rays.

Thanks to everyone for all the Positive thoughts and
Prayers.

Appreciated every one of them.

Update:
Went for an Ultrasound and a followup visit today ,
with the Vascular Surgeon.

She said everything looked good.
Must have been looking at someone elses leg,
because mine looked like an Alligator was biting on it.
About 17 cuts.
But it feels better than it looks.

A few sore spots but all in all, I'm good.
