Our friend Lou is going in for some work on his leg today to treat a circulation problem. Be thinking about him and hoping everything goes well for him. Those sorts of things aren't easy.

Lou, I hope you don't mind my posting this. You have a lot of friends here whom I thought would like to know.

Well, Don, I guess thank you? hehehehe Like olives, I had to acquire a taste for serpents. Or snakes. I mean, they were everywhere down in Louisiana AND south Texas where I worked. We had to watch out everywhere we tied up the boat, especially if under trees overhanging the bayou banks. I'll never forget the day I observed a tug boat crew with 4x4 long timbers stepping lively and beating the dickens out of something I could not see. It turned out to be a big rattler that was trying to go down an air vent into a compartment below. Cottonmouth moccasins open up and reveal how they got their name....totally white like a boll of cotton.....and the moccasin just as soon chase you as leave you alone. Not a peaceable critter at all. Do you remember the movie/book by Larry McMurtry LONESOME DOVE? The young cowboy falls off his horse in the stream, and by the time they get him out of the water he is already past saving? Yep, moccasins. Even the baby ones have enough venom to kill a man....or so I was told. And years ago, a young man (I knew his family) was water skiing on the river in springtime. He fell off and the same sort of thing happened to him as in McMurtry's book. But in naming my home MoccasinLanding, it was more the fear factor I called into play. There is a certain uneasy feeling comes upon one who anticipates encountering such an aggressive critter. And that kept people away from my uninhabited home for almost 20 years. That and the 6 foot long flattened snake I mounted on a board and hung from a tree by my dock. hehehehe. It was Louisiana roadkill flattened by an 18 wheeler. I made no claim that the snake was from MY yard! I live peaceably with snakes here, they are part of the ecosystem. At our river property, I see them regularly, not sure they are venomous or not. Not a problem, I simply watch where I step and make some noise and stay out of the muck. They like fish and frogs for dinner.

FF has always been stand-up in my experience. The only thing you have to be careful with is their stuff tends to ship fully leafed-out even in early spring. So northerners will want to wait until mid-April or so to avoid the possibility of freezing in transit or after planting. That's obviously not the issue here. Out of 15 or so orders, FF has replaced two of my plants after sharing the as-received pictures with them. No arguments needed. The other thing is the ground logistics coming out of Oregon are pretty extensive. The packages take two days just to get to the main UPS hub in California, before finally starting the trek east. Some stuff does arrive looking pretty lean due to the pruning required for shipping and transit time. But they tend to come to life nicely in year two. The great thing about FF is their selection. They really promote a ton of the latest cultivars that are not widely available.

Linelle, I'm pleased I had the correct date. And as others suggested, I agree you should go on celebrating through the week! My dogs are littermates and they'll be 12 this year. The black male is named Puck, as in hockey puck. The cream female is Riley. In answer to Holly-Kay, they are mini labradoodles. Puck is 34 lbs, Rilley is 28 lbs. Their mom was a full size Australian labradoodle and their dad was a miniature poodle. Like you, Linelle, I am also a cat lover. DH gave me a tuxedo kitten the first Christmas we were married. Pictures of yours always remind me of her. At one point when I inherited my kids' rescues I had 4 cats! I was touched by your candor on a thread a long time ago when you spoke about your daughter. It reminded me of the relationship I've had with mine. She and I regularly locked horns during her teen years. I could not have predicted then that we would end up being so close. Good to hear that despite your DD's move downstate you can easily hop a plane for visits.

I thought of her last week or so when an old thread came up. I associate her passing with my sister's, as it was around the same time. As with sister, when I saw Mama's name I had to remind myself that she isn't here anymore. Grief is a weird thing in that the brain takes a long time to get the fact that someone you've loved all your life isn't here for you to talk to anymore, and the same can go for a cyber-presence you've come to "know," now hearing her "voice" anymore. I wish someone who had been in touch Aimee would let us know how they're all doing. She sure was the glue and the rock in that family...

I don't know how I missed this Post but my Daughter said I was a little Groggy.

Used her Laptop on the way home.

I checked into the Hospital at 7 AM and was there all day.
Don't remember what time I got home.
In fact I don't remember too much of the whole day.
Have to go back tommorrow to take off the wrappings and for a follow up and X rays.

Thanks to everyone for all the Positive thoughts and
Prayers.

Appreciated every one of them.

Update:
Went for an Ultrasound and a followup visit today ,
with the Vascular Surgeon.

She said everything looked good.
Must have been looking at someone elses leg,
because mine looked like an Alligator was biting on it.
About 17 cuts.
But it feels better than it looks.

A few sore spots but all in all, I'm good.
