Prayers for my brother

My brother Dean is having surgery this afternoon to correct a blocked carotid artery. He is in bad health. He is a diabetic and also has a serious lung disease. I lost my other brother last February and my sister in November to this same disease. It has been an awful year and this year has not started out much better. My husband had lung cancer last year and they think it is back becausse the tumor markers keep climbing. Please put my brother, his surgeons and his family in your prayers. Jim could use prayers also.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts! Our modem on the computer wasn't working on Tuesday night. It started out fine but completely died around 8:00 p.m. I tried rebooting the computer and turning the DSL box off and on. Nothing worked. When I looked at the computer settings, the modem wasn't being recognized so I figured it croaked. I watched TV the rest of the night and sulked. The computer worked just fine for Bob later Tuesday night after I went to bed. On Wednesday, it worked just fine too. I was finally able to look at my Facebook page and saw a post from my brother with a link to the eulogy he wrote for Mary's memorial on Tuesday night! I totally missed her memorial/wake! I was so hurt that no one told me about it. Then I checked my cell phone and called my voicemail. My sister left a message on Monday telling me about the wake. I never saw anything on my cell phone saying I had a message. I am convinced that Mary was haunting me on Tuesday night and made the modem on my computer stop working. I think she was telling me she was a little upset that I didn't make her memorial and wasn't able to say my formal good-bye. I feel so hurt and upset that no one made sure I knew when it was! I check my email and Facebook every day so they could have contacted me that way. I feel so awful that I am embarrassed to go to Mary's daughter's wedding in a couple of weeks. They will think I'm an awful person for missing her memorial. I don't have any of their phone numbers or email addresses. *sigh* As if her death wasn't bad enough. At least I know she cares enough to haunt me.

Susie, this is a very hard thing to go through....both your brother and the family....I know first hand. After my mother's mother (my grandma obviously) passed away my mom had a very hard time and was suicidal. There were times I pleaded with her and followed her to the river to prevent her from jumping...and I was only 16 years old. It was one of the worst times of my life along with my mom's. I know on her deathbed she was ashamed of putting me through that......but I forgave her and told her I thought she was a great mom....and she shook her head 'no'.... ...anyway...not to make this about me. Take your brothers threats seriously and if you can do it and it would help get there...and whatever else just be supportive. ..oh on a sidenote my mom did get the shock therapy and that eventually did bring her out of her deep depression...although she got way more than she was supposed to and to this day I wonder if that contributed to her blindness later in life. It's just a helpless feeling and I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Duane

Thank you so much for your prayers. Cathy, my brother's wife, has told us that the next 24 hours are critical.It is torturing me that I can't be with him. Jim and I are going through some pretty serious health problems of our own right now and just can't manage a trip to Texas. Cathy and Dean's children are with them, so that gives me some comfort.

Julius was a big strapping guy, a former Pa State Trooper 66 yrs old. He was just diagnosed with NHL in March. My DDIL's father, died of it in1996 at 50 yrs old, 2 yrs after diagnosis. I had a brother in Law who died of Hodgekin's Disease in 1966 at age 36. Nasty diseases.

Thank you so much for the prayers. I know that they were heard and answered! Thank you Jesus. Dean had the surgery and they removed the blockage and put in a stint. He is doing well tonight and if things are good tomorrow he may be able to go home. Thank you again. I really,really believe in the power of prayer and put Dean on a lot of prayer lists. Thank you again.
