Same thing i've done for years.
I don't make him take me out to dinner, instead, I make his favorite dinner.

My Father is deceased, but it is My Mom and Dad's Anniversary. I will probably get Mom flowers and take her to lunch.

I don't expect anything else to happen.

My DH and I have a fun tradition - we go into "town" for the weekend. We live in a suburb of Boston, but we spend Sat night after V-day in a hotel downtown, and pretend we're tourists. Usually we see a play or the ballet, and just walk around city neighborhoods(weather permitting) - its wonderful. After a nice Sunday brunch we go home, 10 minutes, but we feel like it was a vacation. This is a combo Valentines Birthday treat since my birthday is two weeks before. Its also good because we usually don't have to compete with Valentines day reservations.

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. I don't care for the overly sentimental cards and it's hard to enjoy roses or other flowers if you know they've jacked the price up. We didn't even celebrate it when we were newlyweds. But...my DH's car died and after calculating the cost of repair combined with the 150,000 miles on it we opted to buy a new car. So yesterday we decided to take a nice drive into the country and made reservations at a great little pub, restaurant and brewery. It was thoroughly enjoyable and neither of us mentioned the 'Valentine' word.

Yes. A day spent with the grand kids is always a great day. I was super tired since I only got a couple hours sleep the night before but we had fun anyway. Grandson and I did puzzles whiles older sister was in preschool. He's really getting good at puzzles. He is doing pieced puzzles now, not just the shape in place ones. Then we all went to pick DGD up and came back to go through her Valentine's Day bag. Lots of candy and cards. :-) We then decorated heart cookies for the "party" that evening. On holidays like Valentines and St. Patrick's etc. DD and DSIL call it a "party". Usually pizza or other kids food's and special treats. I declined the invitation to stay and drug my weary body home and stopped for a tri tip dip for my dinner.

When my sons were little, we used to do a Valentine hunt. I'm pretty sure I've posted about it before. When they were done eating, I'd have them turn their plates over and taped to the bottom was a heart with a clue. That would lead to another and another. When I started, the younger boy couldn't read yet, so his clues were pictures not words. The final valentine led to a small gift, such as a pack of character underwear. I don't remember how old they were when we stopped. They each got only one thing and like I said, it wasn't something expensive or extravagant. It was just for the fun of it.

My DH's birthday is the 11th so I bought us tickets to see Styx. They were so popular when I was in high school. Brings back a ton of memories. We both really like them. So we'll probably do that and go to dinner for both his birthday and Valentine's Day.

I just may cook him a meal for a change. LOL, he usually takes care of his self, with fat free cooking. YUCK!

I will go low fat, but I don't do NO fat, cause I like cheese to much. :)

I'm leaving him! Not really leaving, but I will be away but he'll be joining me the following week...His birthday is the 15th, so we'll celebrate both when I see him.....

I'll be out of town with our district's 9th grade English Honors classes, in NYC to see "Wicked" at the Gershwin Theatre, and have dinner at the Stardust Diner. Woohoo! We got a great package deal, and since I coordinate field trips for our district, I lucked out! My office-mate and I are making the trip...it's chartered buses to and from. What a deal! Friday the 15th, DH and I are going out to dinner for Valentine's Day.

I wish I could give you some tips, but we always do take out Chinese food and a movie at home. It's a tradition we started when we were dating...fun, easy, and cheap! Plus, you stay away from the expensive and crowded restaurants.

He always buys me chocolates amd I always make a special dinner for him.This year I've found out that I have type2 diabetes,so I guess the chocolates are out!sob!!!!
