Arrrrgggghhhh. I can't even stand the commercials for it. In fact I've never watched an episode more than 30 seconds before the phony and trumped up shouting and carrying on did me in. Can you tell I hate reality shows LOL

I love it too and we've got our TiVo set to record it. Looking forward to watching it.

Apparently it's not phony and trumped up. That's how he is in real life. I've seen a lot of references to his personality all over the web, and it's not an act.

We'll be watching too. My husband reminded me last night. I do love Gordon Ramsey's shows. I was blissfully happy the other day because I happen to catch an episode of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (the British show) that I had not seen yet.

I don't love Hells Kitchen, but I have really enjoyed Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares where he goes in and helps turn around failing restaurants...

I watched last year for the first time. Maybe it was the first season..lol. I thought it was too cool that he paid for the one lady to go to culinary school. She was a short order cook and handled herself better than some of the pros IMO. I'll be watching along with trying to keep up with Top Chef on Bravo....better than TFN these days.

And the wrong guy went home this evening. Should have been Bobby. Big talk, absolutely NO action. I don't expect him to be around much longer.

I really thought maybe the show was like the wrestling shows, totally staged. I certainly hope that real chefs don't behave that way or talk that way. I did watch it last night for some reason, but I kept questioning myself as to why I watched it. The whole train wreck thing, I guess.

As for why they kept Bobby and not the other guy, it's all personality. I've noticed that about some of the other cooking competition shows. No matter how bad one of the chef's cooking is, if he's got personality, he's going to be kept on the show as long as possible. The guy they sent home had no personality, thus he was out and Bobby stayed.

I think you are right about the personality. I find it hard to believe that they even pick contestants with such low cooking skills. Those 'signature' dishes were gawd awful.

I started out watching it. It didn't take long for me to get a total disgust of him. Yes, he's really like that in the kitchen I'm sure, but this is just as staged as all the rest of the so called "reality" shows. They are all either totaly or mostly scripted. Hate them!

I'll stick with Top Chef.

Ew those signature dishes were ghastly! I cant' believe that one dish made Chef Ramsey throw up..... hahahahhahah! The look on that guys face, now how could he think that that combination of foods would taste good? He's made that before? Holy Sheep.

I first saw Ramsey on the BBC in England 1999 when he was going for another Michelin Star for his restaurant. There it was uncut and unbleeped and it is NOT AN ACT.
Ramsey was originally a Rugby player til he got his knee messed up so his language comes honestly. In fact, he has mellowed over the years.

Good heavens, they really scraped the bottom of the barrel for the show this year.....I can't believe any of them could handle working in a professional kitchen, even a dive!

We caught the last 1/2 hr of it last night, our first time. My DH said it best - "It's not a reality show, it's a comedy!" But then, he's a long-time fan of the Carry-On (old British TV humor) gang.

What appalled me was not only Ramsey himself - TJ Reynolds of Cypress Semiconductor would admire him for being even less of a leader than TJ himself - but the idea that one of these incompetent self-styled 'chefs' is going to be the Executive Chef at ANY restaurant. My DH graduated from the Hotel & Restaurant program at City College in SF, one of the best in the US (and the cheapest, BTW, so it always has a waiting list). The cooking skills of these people was indeed a total joke in his opinion. What they know about food you could put in that ridiculous high toque one of the contestants wore, and still have room left over for Ramsey's swelled head in it.

I keep forgetting to watch Top Chef. It's kind of like Hell's Kitchen in that they think fowl language is high art. I could definitely do without the hatred and fowl language emanating from these shows. That's one thing I like about the Food Network's competitions - they don't go for the bad language.

I agree, what a bunch of morons. Last year was my first year to watch, they had a better group for sure. I'll check it out again next week and decide if I continue with this season.

Top Chef has had it's moments with the language issue for sure.....not as bad as this though. At least this group does, for the most part, know how to cook and be creative. I'm enjoying this season so far.

This program is starting to get more interesting. Tonight they become one team and each of them have to invent a main dish.....and I don't think any of them have a real clue about cooking.

I do not generally watch cooking shows, and I avoid 'reality' shows like the plague. But Gordon Ramsay is different. Very different. I'm going to marry him when I grow up. I like rough diamonds.

BTW, in Australia, the swearing isn't bleeped. The swearing IS over-the-top, but the program would be unwatchable with constant bleeping! I'm told, too, that many chefs are tyrants, and rude, crude and vulgar with it. No wonder, really - it's a high-pressure job.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but for some reason, in spite of my telling myself never again, I keep turning to it each Tuesday. The show has no redeeming factors whatsoever, and yet, I still watch it. I really don't think any of the contestants are qualified to be an executive chef, and I don't think working for Gordon Ramsay would be a reward in my book, but I've gotten curious about who's actually going to win. I do much prefer Top Chef, though.

Okay, I caught the last thirty minutes of the show....the guy that was kicked off was a major cry baby to me....loved the migraine excuse....mind you..I only watched the first maybe the second show.

Is Jen the lady from last year that he paid to go through culinary school??? For some reason I'm thinking so...I only watched last season for the first time and I'm thinking she was/is the one???

The group did mess up the dinner service for tonight....big time.. if this was the first final group effort...I'm scared for all of them. I'm thinking some of this is played up but it is tv.... I will say the show teased me a little tonight. I may check it out again next week..to see what happens with the final group.

Another Top Chef fan here....they do have their moments on that show too but I love the creative ideas the chefs come up with. I see they have a cookbook out....I'm thinking about buying it.

I haven't heard anything about Jen going to culinary school but then I didn't watch the show last year.

I was glad to see Matt get the boot, he was a real slacker from the beginning and always had an excuse. I'm liking Bobby more all the time.

I'm so glad that Matt is finally gone. I find it hard to believe he ever set foot in a kitchen before this show. Bobby and that other guy, Petross?, I don't remember his name exactly, are the only two that come close to being adults on the show, including Ramsay. I'm hoping one of them wins.

I liked Ben. I don't know why Ramsey stayed on his a$$ all the time. I thought Ramsey was trying to prime him for the job by riding all the time. I stopped watching when Ben was booted.

Love the show and love Gordon he is HOT as H*LL!!!
