A/C problem in one room

I have cool air blowing from all my vents in my home except my son's room. He has hot air blowing from his vent. How is this possible? We have a heat pump if the helps. Thanks

Since it is March and you don't say where you are... we assume that the hot is the problem. I am not sure where you are in March needing cool air....

Is this a new problem?

It does seem strange. There are many possibilities, a loose or dislodged duct (has someone been in the attic lately?)

I think with some more information we can give some helpful ideas, right now it would be lots of wild guesses!

Could it be a duct that runs through an unconditioned attic and is very leaky and it was a hot day?

The circumstances are very important. Are the ducts in the attic? Is there something about that room that is different - ie furthest from air handler, different story, etc?

There is no HP malfunction that causes some rooms to get warm air and some to get cold. It is a duct infiltration problem most likely.

Thanks fruitjarfla, I seen on the HP Printer Forum that so many HP models were troublesome with no Band aids so I just junked it and went to Wal-Mart and got a Canon for $39.00. It works Great & and the ink refills are dirt cheap.

PW, Thanks for replying. I am sorry about the poor description - When the TV shuts down I also lose the sound. When I begin to see a picture (after about the 7th on and off cycle) the picture fills the screen from top to bottom but is only about 2 or 3 inches wide in the center of the screen . On the next on and off cycle the picture continues to be full top to bottom and begins to get wider. On about the 10th on and off cycle the picture and sound will stay on and the picture will be full top to bottom - the width of the picture will be full on the left side of the screen but will be indented on the right side of the screen about one inch (there is also a little bit of wave on the right side of the pitcture)- after about 5 minutes the picture will finally fill out the entire TV screen. Ryan is right, it seem like the pressure switches are working and that is a good thing. You may in fact be low on refrigerant or you could have board problems, it is somewhat hard to tel with out having gauges on there as well as a complete diagnostic. It is important to get a technician out there as soon as you can so you don't cause any further damage. I recommend getting your system tuned up at least twice a year, instead of having a technician come out just this one time... you might want to invest in a maintenance contract in which you are covered in the event of a breakdown. An air conditioning is just like a car, you have to give it some TLC every once in a while. You can go to www.advantageairmechanical.com or even www.tucsonsairconditioning.com and seek some info on what a preventative maintenance tune-up should consist of. Before you get an HVAC company out to your residence, be sure to read their review online and see what type of customer service they provide. Hi Susan! I couldn't find the C2 color "Garnet" in my C2 decks I've got at home... * I'm assuming it's a deep Red/Wine?! * Did you have another color matched into C2 named Garnet? * The "Morris Green" is in my decks! Handsome deep green there! * Both of these colors would go into the Accent base, which does need the help of a tinted primer. * A Gray primer would've served well under both colors...BUT...TWO topcoats are mandatory on both also. 2 main questions: 1) What color primer(s) went under the Red? Was the WHOLE area primed, or just partial? 2) If you still have the cans, could you post the formula for your Red here? BTW...I know EXACTLY why your paint looks the way it does. Thanks for the responses. We are in south Mississippi and I turned the air on yesterday. The ducts are in the attic and I gave them a quick glance but saw nothing obvious. I'll try to do a closer examination today. I had a new blower installed in January as the other burned up. This new blower must be more powerful as it is louder through the vents when on.

Ususally, when you have one room in particular that is not cooling what you have is a duct problem, a duct design problem, poor air flow can make you think that the air is coming hot because the room is hot when what really happens is that you dont have enough air to lower the temperature, try reading the temperature of the coming air at the vent in that room and in some other room you consider is cooling fine, if there is a difference of 2 or less degrees then it is an air flow problem, if you have 5,6 or more degrees of difference then I just can think of something that happened to a customer of mine: he had the ducts suppling air to the second floor blowing at 60 degrees, and those suppling air to the first floor blowing at almost 70, and it was the same ac system cooling the whole house, what happened?, despite the system was set for cooling, the electric heat (and you may have secondary electric heat) or part of it was stuck on and because of the layout of the ducts the hot air was directed to the first floor so i replaced the heater and problem solved, but i have seen this just once
