We usually take our tree down after New Year's but we took it down right after Christmas this year. We had our Christmas early, so I took the tree down. We had a pre-lit tree and much of it wouldn't light any more. So...I spent a day and cut all the lights off and bought some new strings of lights on sale after Christmas. No more pre-lit trees for us.

We took ours down the day before New Years. Yes, it does look bare and boring now. We set up the card table and puzzle in it's place.

Yes, today is the day. At least the day I'll start! I'm in no rush. It looks so pretty, I hate to put it all away, but I know I'll like having all the room back. I just hate having to lug all the bins back down to the basement! We used to store it all in the attic, but it's too difficult to get it out of there each year so we've cleared a corner in our storage room down in the basement just for decorations. It too will now be crowded but that's what it's for.

No I wait until the house is empty. It's a mess dragging all the boxes out of the closet and I don't need to hear how big of a mess it is. Right now I am sick with an awful cold so it might wait until next week.

No, I usually leave it up until Old Christmas Day (Jan 6th). I might start packing some decorations away tomorrow though.

We're planning on taking ours down next Sunday so that my parents can see it next Saturday when they come up for a visit.

Not yet...we have one more "gathering" since one son hasn't made it home yet due to his work schedule. But he's on his way to Houston today, and he will be home for 7-8 day's until classes begin again up at Texas Tech!

I usually "pack Christmas away" on January 6th, Old Christmas Day. We don't put up our tree until the evening of December 23rd and then it stays up for the full 12 days.

Normally I'd take it down today since tomorrow is also my trash day. But we're having company for dinner this evening so depending on what time they leave I might be able to remove all the decorations and then drag it to the curb tonight or first thing in the morning.

Then I'll spend tomorrow putting all the decorations away.
this year I have to go through all of my containers and eliminate some things. I purchased 3 large Santas after Christmas this year and I'm determined to make room in my existing boxes. I've decided that I have enough containers and I'm not getting any more. Although I will cheat and put the 3' Santa in one of those huge Ziplock bags.

Probably not today. Maybe one day next week.

Yes, I've decided that today's the day. DH got some plastic bins since our old cardboard boxes are falling apart. I've already been putting the ornaments in plastic shoebox type boxes for several years. I just hope I can get it all organized. There are so many ornaments that I don't use any more since I've gone to a "pencil" tree but it holds the ones that are most dear to me.....and the tree doesn't take up as much room. DH thinks this way we will be able to only get down the ornaments we are using. But I can't just throw all the others away. If I "ever" get grandkids, I'll probably decide to do more in the decorating department. It's just more fun with little ones. I have enjoyed my tree and seeing my Santa collection all set out.

I've been sick since New Year's Eve (no, not that kind of sick LOL) and yesterday I managed to work up enough energy to take the Christmas decorations down. Today I still have a fever so I don't know if I'll get to put everything away. Mr. Marv is out working today but he said he'd put it all back in the attic for me when he gets home. I already called my boss to let him know I won't be in tomorrow because of the fever...hopefully, I'll be okay by Tuesday. And this is after I had the pneumonia, regular flu and swine flu vaccines!

We had a live one this year, so I took it down New Years Day. It was way beyond dry and I was so ready to get my living room back!

I usually take everything down on January 1st, but didn't get it done because I was invited to a dinner party for my granddaughter-in-law's birthday. Yesterday I got a little done, so today I will get everything gathered up and put in the garage. Too cold to be out there packing things properly, so that will wait til Summer!

I find that I put up less and less each year now, but still have the lighted tree, window candle lights and lights on the front and back porch rails.

It is a lot of work!

My DS and I took it down yesterday. It sure takes less time to take down than put up. I am happy to have my living room back. I was over all of it. :) We took the outside lights down the 27th.

We took ours down yesterday and got everything in the storage containers. Now I have to get them up on the high shelf in the garage and get my furniture rearranged again in the living room. First I have to vacuum and it kills my back. It's too big a job for my Roomba.

My living room's a mess. I have boxes of stuff for Habitat to pick up tomorrow. I'll sure be glad when it's gone. I like that room to be kept clean. I'll be glad to get back to normal.

I took my tree down yesterday, Jan 2nd. It was still so pretty - I hated to do it! Now it's in a big sack waiting for trash pickup tomorrow. My outside lights are still up but it's too cold to take them down - they'll keep for a week or two!

Our tree is down, inside decorations are away for another year, except for the manger, that has to stay put until the Epiphany. The lights stay up and lit until the Orthodox Christmas.

I am with Glenda. Did not ever put mine up. I do have a wreath or two to put away. Also wrestling with the poinsettias... too pretty to throw out but beginning to be a bother. I don't like having to water them.

I don't put up a tree any more either but I like to get all the Christmas decor put away by the end of the New Year's weekend. So I did that today. I was saying to DH today that when it's time to put everything away I'm particularly happy I don't put up a tree or a ton of other decorations. Just enough to make it festive and add some holiday spirit. Just have a few poinsettias around now which I'll keep until they start looking too ratty.

We were going to take it down last night after our company left - but they stayed so late we didn't have time. So this morning I got up at 6:30, took the decorations off and cut off all the big branches so that I could carry the tree to the curb. Now it's time to take down the artificial one and put everything in the attic.

Then dust and vacuum!
