And about a week to eat it all........that ought to postpone things awhile!!

I'd have just one bite of everything Linda C makes, so that I could plan the funeral menu.

Hmmmm.....?
maybe a big juicy cheeseburger with chili and slaw, a fried oyster salad, scalloped tomatoes, corn on the cob, lemon icebox pie and fresh lemonade to wash it all down.

3 Costco hotdogs with lots of onions, lay's ridged potato chips and dip, a chocolate milkshake, and rich, rich chocolate cake with raspberry sauce on top.

Eone of my choices represent what I absolutely can't eat on a low/non carbohydrate diet.

It was a challenge on Top Chef Annie, Lidia Bastianich, Marcus Samuelsson, Susan Ungaro, Jacques Pépin and Wylie Dufresne challenged the last 5 chefs to make their last meal which I would assume is their favorite. :)

I'm leaning toward: Joe's Stone Crab claws and sauce
Lobster over angel hair with Pink peppercorn sauce
Emu with Green peppercorn sauce [Mercury in So Beach]
Mashed potatoes with a well of irish butter
Brownies and Blondies with maple butter sauce till I barf!

This may sound silly, but it has to be my ultimate comfort food -- a huge plate of thin spaghetti with butter and lots of salt.

Oh and what the heck! I will also take some Suet Pudding with Warm Caramel Sauce.

Most likely it would be some of those things I don't have on a low cholesterol diet or things only crazy people would eat these days such as heavily battered chicken livers fried in lard, cheese stuffed chile rellenos fried in lard, glazed doughnuts, vanilla or lemon cheese cake, four cheese quiche with ham, bacon, etc. Various kinds of soups with loads of heavy cream in them. Filet Mignon and various chicken dishes all with heavy cream sauces.

I would go to Urasawa Restaurant on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. It's only about 15 minutes from my house, but I've never wanted to pay the $350 prix fixe. I would consider The French Laundry, but I prefer Japanese over French, and I wouldn't know what to order. Plus it's further away - closer to Eileen. Whatever it would be, it would be mainly seafood with a bit of Kobe beef.

According to my ex-roommate (at university in Austin), who was from Hong Kong and who read my palm, my lifeline ends one year from now, but he did tell me that European palms were different from Chinese, and so that might not be the case after all. I'll have to check my transits for next year! If I were Chinese, I might be in trouble pretty soon! Another roommate from university (when I was at Rice) told me that he thought I was Chinese in a previous life, but I have no memory of that. I do recall a life on the Island of Cyprus, and before that as a Greek sailor living in Alexandria, Egypt. I was a shepherd on Cyprus and had five daughters. When I was a Greek sailor, I was murdered by pirates who drowned me. That's why I had aquaphobia on Cyprus.

I think I'd drop dead from the stress of trying to narrow down everything I love to the choices I could consume in one meal before I'd ever be able to actually sit down and enjoy it!!

My favorite salad of field greens, with red grapes, dried cranberries and crumbled gorgonzola with rasberry or balsamic vinegarette, or broiled goat cheese with a loaf of crusty bread to sop it up with?

Do I pick Alia Oglio or Shrimp scampi or home made spaghetti with my mother's gravy? But what about ravioli?

Do I want a roast pork loin with tons of garlic one last time since I gave up eating pork, or do I want chicken cutlets in a parmesan cream sauce with mushrooms or maybe chateau Breon? A Kelly's roast beef sandwich, french onion soup with tons of gooey melted cheese? What about good old pizza? I love pizza!!

I'd need pad thai and green curry hot pot, and chicken enchiladas and my chili and scallion pancakes and beef chow fun and moussaka made with beef, not lamb, because I don't like lamb, and Kohroshet and basmatic rice with yogurt and saffron and every other ethnic dish that I love so much!

Do I want cheesecake or chocolate lava cake or creme broulee or ice cream - I love every flavor of ice cream. Maybe I want mousse au chocolate or plain old chocolate pudding, but what about lemon squares? I need lemon squares! What about bread pudding? I'd need Indian pudding warm with vanilla ice cream as well. And gotta have a home made chocolate chip cookie of I'm gonna die!!

Right about this time, Lisa's head explodes from the stress!!

Sols Bacon and Karen's bread and butter made me giggle. It's the little things sometimes. Although Lars and Jessy's restaurant gave me food for thought!

Working back from dessert, it would end with creme brulee. I have to give more thought to the rest.......

Lars, I have a friend who says she remembers being a small child in bare feet travelling on a wagon train. I don't remember ever being anything or anyone else.

Duane, I have not read that book. I do have a book on past life regression, which I gave to Kevin so that he could regress me. I'm a very good candidate for hypnosis because I go into a trance very easily. A strobe light will put me under instantly if it is flashing at the right rate, but that can be dangerous. When Kevin was very small (around three years old), he remembered many of his previous lives and told me about them in great detail. I was the only one who would listen to him - he was quite talkative back then and rather demanding for attention - much the opposite of how he is now. He remembered a life as a Roman soldier, but he also remembered a recent previous life, in which he lived in Galveston. He remembered the names of his friends there as well, although he didn't tell me what his name was then. Now he doesn't remember these things.

Oh, and if you're having a last meal, you might as well try puffer fish.

I don't remember past lives, but when I go to places over and over in my dreams that I have never been to in my waking state I sometimes wonder if those are glimpses of other lives. Fascinating stuff.

I would love a giant pile of king crab legs with butter. We hardly ever have them because my husband hates food that is too much "work", but I love them. And some sea scallops, broiled so they get that lovely caramelized crusty edge on them. I would need a vegetable, either a lovely mixed salad of various fancy lettuces, or, if it was currently in season, asparagus picked from my yard and very lightly roasted with olive oil and salt. Lots of wine. For dessert, any ice cream I made myself. Actually, I recently made some penuche fudge, and I was thinking it would be knock your socks off heavenly to make some good vanilla ice cream, and stir chunks of penuche fudge in it. I bet that would make a great last meal.

I had a friend who did pass away a few years back. He knew he was down to his last day. He danced with his wife, and then requested...get this...Taco Bell! That was his last meal. True story. I guess when you get a craving, that is that.

I'd have to say a really good meatloaf-- homemade french fries with a good beef gravy--- green beans fresh from the garden and homemade blueberry pie in a lard crust-- topped with vanilla bean icecream. Cooked by someone else & they can do the kitchen clean up too !

Odd you should mention taco bell - my SIL died in November, and that's what she asked her kids to bring her on her last day in palliative care.

If I knew I was dying, food wouldn't be on my mind. Being outside, fresh air, needles and IV's out of me - around people I loved, my dogs, on the beach...

I was watching a Jacques Pépin episode before and when asked what is his favorite meal he said, "if you have the best bread and the best butter, what else do you need?"

So I went out and found a good baguette and put some good, french butter on it with a half glass of dry white wine. Yeah, he was right!
