I saw it as a really special time, the last few months my husband and I would have just each other. I also saw it as a time to take really good care of myself as far as rest and healthy eating, avoiding alcohol, coffee, medications unless necessary. I used to lay in bed at night and imagine what it would be like when the baby came. Enjoy the attention; soon all the attention will be on baby.

I LOVED being preggers! I was never sick....well, with DD#1, I had food poisoning for the first 3 months! "/ That was no fun...but it had nothing to do with the pregnancy. We lost a baby between the girls, and I knew from almost day one, that it was not going to go to term. Just felt terrible the whole 8 weeks!!

DD#2 was smooth and so easy, although we had a really hot April, and I was due April 22...it was a very long month as I had gained 50 pounds with her. (I had 48 pounds off by 4 weeks after delievery...ohhhhhh how I wish I could do that now!)

I was ill every single day I was pregnant, so no I didn't enjoy it. The first three months about the only thing I could keep down was oranges, which I would devour like six at a time. Smells really affected me--don't drive my by a McDonald's!! Childbirth was easier than that nine months! But my baby girl was well worth it.

I absolutely adored being pregnant. I didn't have even one day of morning sickness with either of my two pregnancies. I felt wonderful the entire time. Believe it or not, I even felt SEXY! (DH had something to do with that). Prenatal vitamins are great - my nails finally grew lovely and long and my hair was nice and shiny, too.

Delivery is a different story, LOL.

With my daughter, no ... didn't like it at all. I didn't like the attention either, I was way too young, and had 3 months of terrible morning sickness, and was scared to death (this was back in the days when the doctor would pat your knee and say ... don't worry about a thing, I'll take care of everything). Within a week of delivery I was back in my street clothes altho my shape had changed a bit.

With my son, I was your stereotypical "glowing" mom-to-be. Not a moment of sickness, I felt terrific the whole time, thrilled to be pregnant, and delivery was a breeze. I ate everything that didn't run the other way and gained 55 lbs (particularly loved Mexican food, which I had previously shunned because there were tomatoes in it). Fortunately I lost it quickly.

Loved it. My favorite part was feeling him move. I remember just laying on the couch in the evening and watching him roll. I don't think we're going to have anymore, so it makes me sad to know I most likely won't have the experience ever again.

I had a very easy pregnancy with Nick. No real morning sickness. I gained a lot of weight but I wasn't concerned about it (at the time I didn't realize that I wouldn't be able to lose it easily but my age really caught up with me at that point). I worked out right up until he was born so even though I gained weight I felt good. No stretchmarks with Nick either.

I was worried about getting pregnant again because my weight was still up and my BP seemed to get higher the minute I became a mother the first time but things are going well so far. No morning sickness, my BP is down, I'm not gaining as much weight as I did with Nick, I'm still working out 5 nights/week, no stretchmarks so far (although I wouldn't really care since I never walked around bearing my mid-section anyway). I can actually feel movement with this one (Nick was wrapped up in his cord and barely moved). I'm really making the effort to get more sleep and that helps a lot. I'm not even half way there so I don't want to get cocky but I'm glad things are going well so far.

I know several women who had really tough pregnancies with bed rest, serious health problems, pre-term births. Consider yourself blessed if all that you have to worry about is a bit of weight gain and some extra attention. You don't have to love pregnancy but maybe it will be easier to bear if you realize how much worse it can be. And I now know that pregnancy (for me) was the easy part. It's much harder this second time around since I know how it ends! LOL

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I never felt alone. I always had this wonderful little being with me, doing amazing things only I could feel. I remember doing very ordinary stuff like pushing my cart around the supermarket, feeling as though I possessed the most enchanting secret.

Months 3-6 were fine. But, I had Toxemia and had to be hospitalized. C-Sections also.

My last pregnancy almost lost both me and the baby with Toxemia and Placenta Privia.

I also, gained 60 pounds with No. 1 and 70 pounds with No. 2.

I loved being pregnant, each and every minute of it. My problems always came the last month or so. With Peyton it was my high blood pressure and with Hayden it was contractions for 6 weeks before the c-section. I loved eating what I wanted, my sexy big belly. DH and I were much more remantic while pregnant than when we had a baby in the house. I loved it. I feel bad because when I had Hayden we decided 3 was enough,I would love to have lots more but Dr. told us that my body just wouldn't handle another pregnancy well at all. So this is it, I miss rubbing my belly and getting to wear maternity clothes that grew with me.

Yes, I enjoyed each of my 3 pregnancies. I never had any sickness or problems. Now as for delivery....that I didn't enjoy!

I had a very easy pregnancy. I spent my time reading about various deliveries, breast feeding and my all time favorite book on an alternative way to raise a baby..."The Continuum Concept." I only gained 25 lb. I took extremely good care of myself. I knew I wouldn't have another one, so it wasn't that I enjoyed it so much, just that I was very focussed on the baby.

No! I wanted my baby desperately, but I was nauseous 24/7 from the date of conception to birth. I never did it again!

I also was nauseous throughout my 2 pregnancies. I threw up daily or several times daily with both babies till the day they were delivered. No, I did not enjoy that. It was a relief although worrisome when I went into labor early. DD #1 was 3 weeks early and DD #2 was 7 weeks early. They came 4 days less than a year apart. Labor for both was less than 3 hours and both babies were healthy, so I got lucky on that.

Patti43...some of those smells that set me off 47/48 years still will make me a little nauseous. Wet peanut butter, perking coffee, cabbage cooking on the stove...and the very thought of cherry pie..yuk!

I loved being pregnant...

And had very quick and easy births.

I wish I would have had more.

Denny only wanted two...and we had three. I would liked to have had 5.

I also enjoyed my children as they were growing up...
Empty nest was hard for me.

My last child, youngest of four was born in 1961 so I don't really remember any more.

I loved, loved being pregnant. I loved feeling the baby move around and kick. It was such a feeling of awe. I ate what I wanted and gained more weight than I would have liked but I lost most of it. I was one of the lucky ones who was never sick.

well.....not as much as getting pregnant!!

With DD I loved the whole pregnancy she actually came 2 days early and I told the DR I was not ready to have her because I felt great and I had a bowling tournament next week. I was low on fluid so they said it was time.

With DS I had a great pregnancy up until about 2 months before he was born.

My 5 were born in the dark ages, when we went 9 months, not counted the weeks. All 5 of mine were great, no morning sickness, very healthy, never felt better...Deliveries were just as easy,all big babies, hardly made it to the hospital, (should have just stayed home) and most without the doctor...I would have loved keeping that "pregnant feeling" forever....

I loved it! Both pg's were a lot of fun- afterward is the HARD part. Sounds weird, but I loved the labor/birth experience too.

I have one SIL and a few friends who HATED being pg. I mean, CRIED through their whole pg'y! They hated how it changed their bodies and made them feel.

I loved being pregnant and couldn't wait to wear maternity clothes.

Delivery for the first one was not at all what I thought it would be. The pain was awful and I actually felt like the baby was coming through the rectum. (Sorry, TMI) At some point I was anesthetized...with ether. I still remember the smell. DH was sent home as soon as I was admitted. I woke up the next day after 23½ hours of labor. Didn't even know I had had the baby!!

Four years later, I was just as excited about being pregnant as the first time. Wanted to tell everybody I saw. This one was somewhat easier. This time all the pain was in my thighs. Don't remember much about it all, or what I was given during the time.

Delivery is much different now for you young women. Either way, the end result is worth what ever it takes. My older sister told me when I was pregnant the first time that it would be the worst pain I would ever have. . and the soonest forgotten. She was right.

Congratulations to all you who are anticipating. Be glad it is not like it was "back in the day".

I was very excited and happy, but I also got terrible morning sickness that lasted the whole 9 months. The books said it gets better after the first 3 months. Wrong! The part I really liked was going for sonograms, a chance to actually see the baby.

I was extremely happy to be pregnant with both my children but the actual physical pregnancy itself I did not like at all. Sickness, weight gain, dietary restrictions. I didn't like people coming up to me (ones I didn't even know) and rubbing and touching my stomach. Maternity clothes were the ugliest back then. Love my kids disliked being pregnant. NancyLouise

I had an easy time with the pregnancy and the birth. I loved every minute of it. I was so skinny before I became pregnant that I was glad to gain some weight.

I loved being pregnant. I popped out early with each one and was in maternity clothes by 3 months. With DS even my doctor suspected twins. I was that huge. By the 6th month I was getting comments on why I hadn't had that baby yet.

Like Marilyn I spent my days reading up on breasting feeding and exploring alternative (for the time) childbirth methods.

I loved the whole process despite the difficult labor with DD (my first) and the weight gain. I nursed DD right up until a month before DS's birth. I nursed DS for 3 years so I was pregnant or nursing for a total of almost 6 years. I would have liked to have at least 2 more if we could've afforded to.

I wasnt worried about the weight gain and how it effected my body image, but I didnt love pregnancy primarily because it was uncomfortable.

Of course, I loved being pregnant just because of what was growing inside of me, and I did love feeling his movements, but overall, I was achy and sore and felt stretched to the max from fairly early on. He was laying on my sciatic nerve for most of the pregnancy and that was really uncomfortable, and I experienced Gerd really bad, which is no fun.

But the end result is well worth it. Hang in there!!

Wow...what great stories are on here! I don't hate being pregnant at all, but it's certainly not exactly like I had thought it would be(like I had any clue, lol). I've gained 15 pounds, but that's not the problem. It's kind of what Steph said...feeling "stretched to the max" and I'm only 6 months and a week! I can't imagine getting bigger, but I know it's coming.

The hardest part is finding clothes that fit, I simply don't fit into maternity clothes properly and feel weird-shaped. I've tried rigging my regular clothes, and have shopped at every store possible. Pants are the issue, I'll keep searching for some. The movement of the baby is such a strange feeling! It's cool to see him kick, though. Doing the "baby thing" is fun, more so than I thought it would be with picking things out, etc. It's certainly a neat experience.

We were married almost 12yrs. when our 1st was born and I loved every second of being pregnant! *S*

I just sort of skimmed the answers cuz I'm in a bit of a hurry, prolly be my only post today.

I had moments of enjoying pregnancy, mostly in the 2nd trimester, like feeling the baby move. That is my favorite part of pregnancy.

Otherwise, I was miserable. Horrible morning sickness and migraines the 1st trimester, could barely function. 3rd trimester nauseating heartburn and just generally worn out and done with it already. I also did not like the attention and everyone else's desire to talk about it all the time! Change the topic to something besides my body, please!! I wondered if there was such thing as during-pregnancy depression as opposed to post-partum b/c I was emotional, unhappy, and not much fun to live with and couldn't seem to shake it.

It was worth it, and the misery went away for me after delivery. Then I was a very happy, relieved mommy!

When it gets you down, do something to pamper yourself, relax, think about a future image when this part will be over. Congratulations, can't wait to see new baby pics!

Pregnancy was a means to an end for me..I did enjoy the movement..but not the uncomfortable moments..and there were lots..my first pregancy was almost my last it was awful(and almost took my life)...and took me quite a while to go another round..that pregancy saved it for me..and suprise the third was simple.

But I don't like the invasion of privacy! LOL and nursing was a chore too..I don't like cling ONs! Hugs are fine...hang on me forgetta bout it! I can't believe I let Kamren nurse until he was 19 mo!

no. i hated being pregnant! so much so that i told my DS's dad that i never wanted to go through it again. wich is bad because i never wanted an only chil. that was 4 1/2 years ago and now i would do it again but i doubt that i'd like it any better than i did the first time. i was lucky i had very little mornig sickness after the first couple of months. though when i did have it i would be fine all day untill i got home from school then as soon as i got home and would sit down it would hit me so hard i couldn't move. i don't know how many times i feel asleep in the couch. after that i just had a small cold that refused to go away. i ate whatever i wanted and gained 60lbs. i did hate the attention i got. don't rub my belly don't even think about it. i hated the feel of being pregnant. i guess thats what i get from watching too many scifi movies.it was like haveing a little alien inside me. ewww.
delivery was easy. DS decided he wanted to come out upside down so spent some time on all fours trying to get him to turn over but for the most part i was so drugged that i slept through labor.

Pregnancy was easy on me, and it was a fascinating experience feeling the new life growing within me, and knowing my body (and mental outlook too) was changing to accommodate motherhood. I have one DD, she was a Spring baby. That winter was the only one in which my feet stayed warm :-)

I really didn't like it all. Tolerated the whole experience because I didn't have other options. Was very grateful when the pregnancy chapter of my life was CLOSED! I did end up with three good daughters, but I really didn't like the process.

I loved being pregnant. I felt beautiful and it was a very special time in my life - both times!

Loved being preggers. Only 15 minutes a day of morning sickness and that only a few times with the first two. Didn't have time for it with the next two.
Like Pattico, empty nesting has been hard. I do miss my chickens.

Not the first 4.5 months, nauseated all the time, 24 hours a day. After that passed I felt great until the last month or so when you can't breath much but it was still wonderful having that baby squirming and just thinking about them.

I loved all three of them.....really loved being pregnant and the feeling of the baby moving inside me. I was so sad after the last one to know I'll never feel it again. But it is a feeling you never forget! I had no problems during any of them and felt wonderful....I'm sure that helped!

Oh yes I enjoyed all three of my pregnancies and I was so fortunate not to experience morning sickness. I loved just about every minute and even considered being a surrogate mother. My first two labors were quick and the third was a emergency C section.

I loved every minute of it (including the attention, I'm now embarrassed to say)!

In fact, when I was holding my precious DS in the hospital, I was already missing the feeling of him inside of me. I wish I could have done it more than once.

I had an emergency C-section. The thought frightened me, but it was no big deal at all.

I can't say that I "enjoyed" it, but I didn't mind it. I was sick the first few months with morning sickness for both of my babies, but after that, I was fine.

Now, the tests for fertility, not so much,
and when the epidural didn't work during the C~section, not so much, but during and after were great! lol

I hated the first trimester with all 3 pregnancies. I had horrible morning sickness 24 hours a day. It got worse with each pregnancy. Once I got beyond that, I loved it. With #1 I couldn't wait to wear maternity clothes and wore them much earlier than I needed to. (It took me a long time to show, and no one could believe I was as far along as I was.)

I had a very hard time the first 6 weeks after each birth, mostly with nursing. I hung in there, but it was so hard. Once we got beyond the 6 week mark, it was wonderful. I loved nursing them! I nursed the first 2 for 20 months and our 3rd for 13 months.

We knew after #3 that we were done, and DH took care of it, but even 12 years later I still have dreams that I am pregnant! I'm 45 and certainly do not want to be preggers again, but the dreams keep coming!

Hated it. Horrible morning sickness with each one (Hyper emesis gravatia I think it's called...puking your guts out constantly...3,4 and 5 months it just got worse with each child). Me and pregnancy just didn't get along. The doctor said he had seen very few patients that got sicker than me while pregnant. Hospitalized, tranqulizers, etc to help me get through it. Very lucky to have healthy babies for all I went through. Oh well, I'm glad more people had good experiences than bad.
