My cousin has one, she can use it to make a very healthy "ice cream" or frozen yogurt. She's on a very restrictive diet so it comes in handy, much healthier than something store bought.

That looks really good to me, and maybe I'll stop by Target this week-end to see if they have that offer here as well. I don't think I would want to pay full price for it because I got a full size Cuisinart ice cream maker from Kohls for less than $30. I like that they give you two bowls. As for not taking up much room in the freezer - you haven't seen the inside of my freezer, but that's another story. The last batch of ice cream I made was only about 1-1/2 pints, but the ice cream maker will make up to 1-1/2 quarts, and so I only used it at half capacity because that's all I wanted to make. I have a small hand crank ice cream maker that my sister gave me 20 years ago, but I seldom use it FSR.

Usually, when I want a quick frozen dessert, I cut up some fruit into 1/2" cubes and freeze it in a freezer bag. Then I put the cubes in the blender with a bit of yogurt and sweetener of choice (Spenda for me these days), and it is ready in two minutes, but you have to have the right fresh fruit or have it stored in your freezer already. My favorite for this is cantaloupe or melon. Often I just make it into a sorbet and add water instead of yogurt.

I've been putting TJ chocolate almond lace cookies in my ice cream lately, but I add them only when serving. The last ice cream I made was coconut, which Kevin does not like, and so next time I guess I will have to make vanilla, which I have not made in a while. arkansas_girl - That was my reason too. I am going to make healthy frozen yogurt and sorbets so cut back the calories. I also love sherbets.

Lars - Hope you can find one for this price. Like you, I would not have paid full price for it. I just finished making Cappuccino Gelato which I will have later. I am the only one who likes coffee flavored ice cream so never have it. I can't justify buying a pint at the prices they charge, especially Starbucks, so now I can make it when I want it. And I found out because what you make has so much flavor, I am satisfied with a lot less so eat less.

I've got one, and enjoy it periodically. You can take store-bought yogurt and make it into frozen yogurt...I like taking the Yoplait Light's in various flavors and making frozen yogurt from them. The Black Forest Cake Yoplait and Raspberry Cheesecake yogurts are both delicious frozen!

Also, if you want to make ice cream from scratch, try one of the recipes that comes in the little booklet. I changed one to fat-free half-n-half and it was delicious!

The nice man at the service desk was just too helpful. He kept pulling up other makes of the china and sending the notice for them to be brought up to the desk. I got some interesting patterns for my mix and match pink/red transferware collection. Another rep laughed when I exclaimed "I only came here to get one mug!"

When you go to the store to buy ice cream, bring along the ice cream maker bowl from the freezer.

It will keep the ice cream from melting when you get home, especially on a hot summer day.

dcarch - Good idea but it never gets that hot here. We have colder summers than winters here on the CA coast. As Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was the summer I spent in San Francisco."
