Thanks Rose, but it's not 100% correct. It does not publish any numbers from your cell phone. It only has those friends who have voluntarily posted their phone number on their FB profile. I have only about 8 numbers show up when I click on the 'contacts' tab and when I have a lot more numbers than that stored on my cell phone! Plus, I don't have some of those friends numbers anyway on my cell.

Still, it's a good reminder of what you put on the net is readily available. Keep it to a minimum if you don't want it out there.

OMG, that darn Facebook!!! Thanks so much for the heads-up, Roselvr. I'll pass it along to my friends and family.
(Sigh!) I only stay with FB in order to keep up with my large family, all of whom live in other states. It's been a great way to quickly and easily see the latest pics of the kids, etc. I'm getting very frustrated and alarmed, though, at these invasive things they seem to sneak in without our knowing. I really thought that I'd made my FB site very secure; it's unnerving to see, once again, how wrong I was!
Isn't there a secure site to rival FB out there someplace???

What I meant was it's apparently people who have listed their phone number on their FB info, it is not incorporated from my phone. Like Pesky, many of my facebook friends are not in my cell phone contacts. How would FB have access to my cellphone?

Actually it is right; I was second guessing what I saw on my own account- I have my FB account linked to my cell- I have my whole blackberry contacts list on facebook following the directions.

The message is poorly written- got it from Tommy Lee of Motley Crue- I have 2 FB accounts- my own cell number was being published on my friends list when the last time I looked; I did not share my cell- it was selected as "only me" at some point but ended up changing. I've since reset the security option for my cell phone number.

I wonder if it depends on the cell we're using? When I follow what I posted I come to Phonebook Contacts on my FB page- it has everything from my cell plus the friends that have a cell listed- including various cell phones my daughter has called me from & I've saved as Teens friend such & such.

I had 18 names with numbers come up. None of the 18 are listed in my cell phone. They apparently have listed their phone numbers under their own info on Facebook.

I'm going to have to find better directions because what I posted about how to get my cell numbers off; I don't have the same option as above.

Tina; you may want to let people know to check to see if their phone number security is the way they had it because mine got changed; mine should not have been published; I would never share my number on FB

Does this depend on whether you are using your mobile phone to post to FB? In other words, if you only use your FB from your computer, are the phone #'s published only on those of your friends who display their phone numbers on their own FB pages? Or, does your phone number show up if a friend who is using their mobile phone to post to FB has your phone number stored in their mobile phone device?

The only one's listed on my page are those who volunteered their numbers. And they're all cell phones too.

I can't see anyone being called by weirdos unless our pages aren't kept private, and I don't know if even if our FB page was public that anyone can access those numbers.

This is what is says to the right of all your contacts listed:

"Phonebook Contacts

Facebook Phonebook displays contacts you have imported from your phone, as well as your Facebook friends.

If you would like to remove your mobile contacts from Facebook, you need to disable the feature on your mobile phone and visit this page."

That means that the contacts listed are your Facebook friends who agreed to post their numbers -OR- contacts you have specifically IMPORTED from your phone. That means you have to do the importing - it doesn't happen automatically.

Sorry; I'm having a busy day- I don't know how I missed the writing on the right about phone book contacts- could have sworn there was an ad there.

I think I know how it happened to me; there was a new blackberry facebook mobile app; that must have changed it. I'll deal with it tomorrow. FB has been having a lot of issues since the update a week or so ago.
