Hi to all my Idyllette/Idyller Friends. Thank you so much for thinking of me on my Birthday. The cards above are so beautiful and thoughtful. I have been so touched by all the words of friendship I have gotten from all over the country and around the world as I go through this difficult life transition. Some of you know I am going through a divorce -- tough, complicated stuff. It has put some of my garden activities on hold for now, though I still know I will return to it, I hope in earnest next year. In the meantime, your cards and pictures and good wishes have kept me going, and give me a vicarious garden. I spent the day before my BD in the Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco, where I had been at a meeting at UCSF for a couple of days. What a great place that is, and still full of life and bloom in November. That was a BD treat, in a beautiful place. And I even still have a big pot of Salvia leucantha at my house (where I don't currently live, part of the complication) in full bloom. So bits of the garden in me do persist. Thanks to you to0 Karen and everyone for their concern! Copy of my post on the other side of the forum.....again, this really is a great group of friends and people that I'm glad to know and actually have had the pleasure of spending some good times in person. Thank y'all so very much for checking in on me and my family/group. I've been out of town working and just got home a hour or so ago. Debi, my sis did text me that Ann had called this morning checking in....I remember you calling years ago for some swap info for the riverrat. : ) It's good to know you have friends from around the world thinking about you and your family and friends. We do have some in our circle of friends and employees that have been affected by this. Thankfully everyone is alive and well minus the damage and or loss of homes. My thoughts and prayers are there for everyone in the damaged areas over the last several days. Sally, I hope you hear from your missing family member soon and I'm happy to hear the rest of the family is okay for the most part. Peppi, thanks for the post and concern my friend, and Ann for the phone calls. This forum and it's members are the best. I will reply to all of the emails in the next day or two and REALLY appreciate all of them and your concern. I really miss being here as of late but we have had some major family issues and concerns that have taken up much of my/our time and life in general. Thanks again all y'all!!! Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone! Busy day yesterday and it ended up being a late evening for me. EJ, I missed leap year by nine hours or so. Pork and peanut butter...two of my favorite things but not together. LOL The office crew took good care of me with doughnuts in the morning and a cake later in the day from Ann's Bakery in Tulsa. She/the bakery are very well known for wonderful baked treats. Dinner out with family and a couple of friends. Went to my favorite steak house. Surf and turf for me. Friends talked me into going to a little hole in the wall place that we like and we stayed out way to late. Spent the night at a friends as he lives around the corner. It's taking some time to get going this morning..LOL! The best thing that happened was hearing from Justin over the weekend. He posted a short note and a link to a short video on his face book page and was able to make a short five minute phone call to his DM. WOO HOO!!! The last time we heard from him was the third week of January. Communications with him have been very hit and miss since he left. He told us he should be stationary for the most part now and they are expecting hot showers by next week...there first. Thanks again! Have to get back to work now. David

Thanks for all the BD wishes all y'all!! Celebrated early due to my work schedule and travel. Sad to say but I had take out in a hotel room last night. LOL Last weekend was a good time though. Friday night we hit the casino and had dinner at one of my favorite steak joints for dinner. It's a local place (with a couple of locations including he casino) that I've enjoyed since the early 90's. Yes, Lars, a little seafood in the form of crab cakes and shrimp cocktail for appy's. Saturday afternoon and evening was spent with some of the same friends and more helping move two huge aqauruims. Another good time...lots of cheap beer....the infamous Crown for me. LOL! Moving 200 plus gallons of water is a challenging task...thankfully several of us still drive trucks. Pizza, wings, and a few games on the wii ended the night LATE. Sunday was brunch at Mom's with the family. Breakfast casserole, potaoes o'brian, biscuits and gravy, and Mom's Bloody Mary's. A good nap in the afternoon rounded out a perfect weekend for me. Thanks again y'all. I think this is the 10th or 11th BD I've celebrated with this cool group of friends. Hard to imagine it's been that long. Sol, we all know where the beer is in that pic my frined...LOLOLOL! I'm not sharing the backseat or shotgun stories....just use your imagination....LOL!! David

Thanks for all the good wishes, images, and links! Had a great weekend with family and friends after being on the road the last of last week. Yesterday and last night was with friends. Man, I'm getting to old for this all night stuff..LOL! Today was a early dinner with family that lives down here. Scored some cool serving bowls made from Asian fir tree stumps, Ina's latest book, Rober Plant and Alison Krauss CD, and the Mamma Mia CD .... loved the stage show when we saw it last year. The movie version is great too. Thanks again my friends! I feel so young to be this old....
