The tornadoes in OK have me worried about you and so many other people that I know in that area. You are weighing heavy on my mind this evening. If you can please check in with us and let us know that you and your gang are ok.

I agree, I sent an email, but I doubt that he has time or power or an internet connection. I'm hoping he's OK, and that he'll check in soon.

Peppi did start a thread on the Discussion side, since that's the most heavily trafficked. She says Moni posted on KT so she's OK.

Someone will probably complain that the other thread is in the "wrong place" and it'll end up here too. I don't care, as long as David and others check in, they can post any darned where they like!

On a strip with the drip system, I think I'd forego the aeration there and try something dchall recommends. The deep watering with a soaker hose. Try that approach on your strip and I think soon you will have as much penetration of the root zone as with conventional areation and no threat of damage to the drip system. The first key is slow. The second key is to make sure you apply water long enough to get it good and deep. Check how deep your water is getting with a spade or screw driver or moisture probe. Repeat a few times and I think you'll see the improvement to soil hard pans you are looking for.

Thank you, Carol and Susan for your offers of plants and seeds, but I'm going to stick with what I have this year. It just isn't going to be a very good summer for growing stuff and I figure I just might as well accept that and go on. You are wonderfully kind and I appreciate you so much! Dawn, I'm sorry to hear that your fruit is on the ground, too. I still have peaches and apples but I don't know for how long. The storms stayed south of us yesterday and we didn't even get rain, but did get more wind. NOAA has changed its forecast for my area, we may not get rain at all out of this, although the sky looks like it might rain any minute. I do feel so sad for all those who have lost so much. Makes me feel a little selfish for complaining about just losing plants and fruit. Yes I am familiar with Neodesha. They and Coffeyville were hit so hard last year. It sounds to me like the college jumped the gun on getting student housing cleaned out. The house next door to us was reposessed and some people were hired to clean it out. It was a MESS! They told me they stored the good stuff away until they had enough and then they would have an auction. So tell the kids to watch the auctions, maybe they can get some of their stuff back. I was born in Iola, KS and my dad was a truck driver for awhile. Neodesha was on his route. A few years ago I worked in an ophthalmology office in Bartlesville and we had a pediatric specialist that would come from Tulsa once a week. I would do his dictation and he would pronounce Neodesha as Neo DEE cha. The first time he did it I went "WHA.....????", then when I realized what he was trying to say I nearly rolled in the floor. Generators can be really dangerous things, especially since people tend to try to run them somewhere in the house. That's where the carbon monoxide comes in. We have one but we keep it on the back porch. The last time we had a power outage here, it lasted for about 24 hours and it was bitterly cold outside. We didn't have our generator then and we got by OK by wearing our coats and bundling up when we went to bed that night. But mostly I worried about our water pipes freezing. Now with the price of gas the way it is, it's going to be expensive to run a generator. I hope everyone stays safe, all of you please be careful and keep track of the forecasts for your area.

Sally, hope your place is on high ground and not close to any creeks or the Illinois. Tahlequah had 10 inches plus of rain over the weekend. The river is suppose to crest 11 -12 feet over flood stage tonight or tomorrow. Stillwell had water running through town everywhere today not to mention many roads closed in the general area. Rain totals in the east side of the state range from 4 - 13 inches. It hailed here at my place three times yesterday. For the most part it was pea to quarter sized for me. I got a littler nervous when I saw a few golf ball sized ones bouncing in the yard. Annie, I was thinking about Weed too. St. Louis took a good hit Friday night. Glad to hear there were no major injuries from the tornado at the airport. I know there are several levees SW of that area that are on the brink of breaking. The Popular Bluff area is really under the gun with that challenge today. I think Glenda is in Birmingham??? Hope she checks in too. Glad to have the rain even though the storms have caused some major damage and loss of life. Too bad they didn't get some in West OK and TX were they are suffering from a major drought. The winter wheat crop isn't going to be all that good this year. Hope everyone is safe and sound. May is typically the month for the most tornados. April sure has set some records so far and I know those to the East of me have a couple of wild days ahead of them. David

Oh, Annie, this was one of the few I thought I had posted to while on vacation using my DStepFIL's dial-up. So sorry for the delay. A few on dial-up did me in until I returned home. Glad I checked your thread!! I just love that picnic basket and the comfy looking blankets. Picnic cookbooks, always a favorite with me! The cool and refreshing items look fun. Karen, keep a watch out today. They are saying that more storms are coming out of Dallas and the radar is showing it all dipping to LC.

I spoke with David's sister and David is fine. Hopefully he will drop in to the CF when he gets a chance. I miss David's participation.

Thank you for the heads up Peppi. I have Maggie and Scarlette today and haven't looked at the news. We arn't used to tornados...hurricans that we can run away from but not tornados.

I miss his presence too, he is such a great person!

Karen, stay safe, I was watching the Weather Channel last night and it seems as if the storms are close to your area!
Thanks to the CF, I'm truly understanding the term, "Hunker down".

We are hunkered down for not much it seems. ;-) we are hoping for a little rain.

Thursday we have a Lemonaide and Cupcake sale going on (Street Side) for the people of Oklahoma. All monies will be sent thru Catholic Charities...I'm so thankful that our big guy (lakeguy) is ok.

Thanks to you to0 Karen and everyone for their concern!

Copy of my post on the other side of the forum.....again, this really is a great group of friends and people that I'm glad to know and actually have had the pleasure of spending some good times in person.

Thank y'all so very much for checking in on me and my family/group. I've been out of town working and just got home a hour or so ago. Debi, my sis did text me that Ann had called this morning checking in....I remember you calling years ago for some swap info for the riverrat. : )

It's good to know you have friends from around the world thinking about you and your family and friends.

We do have some in our circle of friends and employees that have been affected by this. Thankfully everyone is alive and well minus the damage and or loss of homes. My thoughts and prayers are there for everyone in the damaged areas over the last several days.

Sally, I hope you hear from your missing family member soon and I'm happy to hear the rest of the family is okay for the most part.

Peppi, thanks for the post and concern my friend, and Ann for the phone calls. This forum and it's members are the best. I will reply to all of the emails in the next day or two and REALLY appreciate all of them and your concern.

I really miss being here as of late but we have had some major family issues and concerns that have taken up much of my/our time and life in general.

I'm so relieved to hear from you and know that you're doing well. My heart goes out to your family and employees who have had to endure this devastation, along with the other Oklahoman's who lost so much.

Please let me/us know what we can do from afar. We're all in this together.
