Hi to all my Idyllette/Idyller Friends. Thank you so much for thinking of me on my Birthday. The cards above are so beautiful and thoughtful. I have been so touched by all the words of friendship I have gotten from all over the country and around the world as I go through this difficult life transition. Some of you know I am going through a divorce -- tough, complicated stuff. It has put some of my garden activities on hold for now, though I still know I will return to it, I hope in earnest next year. In the meantime, your cards and pictures and good wishes have kept me going, and give me a vicarious garden. I spent the day before my BD in the Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco, where I had been at a meeting at UCSF for a couple of days. What a great place that is, and still full of life and bloom in November. That was a BD treat, in a beautiful place. And I even still have a big pot of Salvia leucantha at my house (where I don't currently live, part of the complication) in full bloom. So bits of the garden in me do persist. Thanks for all the BD wishes all y'all!! Celebrated early due to my work schedule and travel. Sad to say but I had take out in a hotel room last night. LOL Last weekend was a good time though. Friday night we hit the casino and had dinner at one of my favorite steak joints for dinner. It's a local place (with a couple of locations including he casino) that I've enjoyed since the early 90's. Yes, Lars, a little seafood in the form of crab cakes and shrimp cocktail for appy's. Saturday afternoon and evening was spent with some of the same friends and more helping move two huge aqauruims. Another good time...lots of cheap beer....the infamous Crown for me. LOL! Moving 200 plus gallons of water is a challenging task...thankfully several of us still drive trucks. Pizza, wings, and a few games on the wii ended the night LATE. Sunday was brunch at Mom's with the family. Breakfast casserole, potaoes o'brian, biscuits and gravy, and Mom's Bloody Mary's. A good nap in the afternoon rounded out a perfect weekend for me. Thanks again y'all. I think this is the 10th or 11th BD I've celebrated with this cool group of friends. Hard to imagine it's been that long. Sol, we all know where the beer is in that pic my frined...LOLOLOL! I'm not sharing the backseat or shotgun stories....just use your imagination....LOL!! David

Thanks everyone! Nothing like checking in and finding all of these BD wishes from my good friends.

Busy weekend here. Started out early on Friday with my family and a couple of friends. We went out to dinner at Mahogany Steakhouse, one of my favorite places to have a great steak or lobster.

I got up early Saturday and headed to the lake. It was the big Welcome Back Celebration that they do every year on the first weekend in March. I didn't take my boat out as it is still winterized but I did get out on the water on a friends cruiser. Good thing it's a big boat as it was very windy and the wave were big. We didn't complete the poker run, ended up back at the marina and just hung out on the dock all day. Went to dinner and then to the club which had a good band playing.

It was a good time and was great to see summer friends, my neighbors, and all of the locals who still remembered me. I was kind of scared going back and I did have a moment or two when I saw my old place but all is well and good. I was "Crowned",yes with Crown, an official weekender but with special priviledges....LOL...I still have keys to my neighbors places and I'm free to use them or the docks whenever I like. How cool is that!?

Thanks again for all the wishes y'all. Turning 40 again wasn't too bad...lolololol
