marinating with vacuum sealer

Do any of you use your vacuum sealer to marinate (I've tried to do it in the bags, but because of the wet environment, I can never get a vacuum or seal. Plus, the machine tries to suck up the liquid. So, I bought this "quick marinator" contraption for the vacuum sealer. I think it will pay for itself considering the amount of bags I've wasted trying in vain to use them for this purpose. Plus, I can use it to store other things when I'm not marinating. I'm a little upset that the lid isn't dishwasher safe.

The instructions were pretty vague. How long should one leave meat in it to get a good flavor? I got a couple of small steaks in with some Carribean Jerk marinade now. I gave them a few pounds with the Jaccard meat tenderizer first, but I don't know how long to leave them in!

Any tips or opinions about this attachment/method?

Thanks :o)
