Making short grain brown rice . . . I'm nervous.

Well, it was pasta for lunch and I have asparagus to use up for dinner and also this short grain brown rice that has been sitting around. I bought it because I thought it would make good rice pudding, but when I tried it I did not like it. So I'd like to just cook it and mix it with some feta and the asparagus for a risotto-ish dish. But how can I get the rice cooked in the middle. I hate that "bite" that risotto is supposed to have, I like mushy rice, lol. Anyone know the secret to cooking short grain brown rice all the way through?
