Thanks again for the thoughts and wishes! It was otherwise a somewhat uneventful day, but I did get a nice card from my friend Julie, who forgot all about me last year on my big birthday. I should be getting together with her again soon, however. My sister sent me a package with some nice kitchen presents, and I'll try to photograph those this week-end. She's getting better at understanding what I like, and what she sent was very cute. We did end up going to the Thai restaurant and had the Royal Golden Baskets for appetizer - one of our favorites - but they were out of the Curry Fish Cake. The baskets come empty with the fillings on the side and are perfectly bite-sized. Kevin had Pad Thai, and I had Jungle Curry with beef. I ordered that because it has Thai eggplant in it and no coconut milk. I also ordered crab fried rice because they are generous with the crab, and I didn't know that my dish came with steamed rice. We took most of the crab fried rice home with us. The best thing about this birthday is that my Chinese curse is now over! According to a Chinese palmist, my life line supposedly ends at age 60, although he did tell me that European palms are different from Chinese, and so I might now die then. I guess I need a new reading now. Lars

Thanks for all the wonderful birthday greetings! It seems like no one sends cards any more - I got one from my boss and one from a co-worker, but nothing in the mail and nothing from my family in the way of a card. I did get a lot of messages on Facebook, but I rarely go there, and so I'll have to take another look. Two co-workers took me to lunch at a nearby Greek restaurant (that I love), and I had Mousaka, but I really love their Lahanodolmades. Anyway, we had a good time, and Carlos told me that he had been craving Greek food ever since he left Montreal. I am planning a relaxed week-end and hope to get my taxes done so that I can budget money for my dental work. I have another dentist appointment on March 2, and we'll discuss the best plan for the tooth at that time. I'm really hoping for a root canal and crown rather than extraction and implant, but I have a feeling that I will end up with the implant. I don't want to get another crown just to lose it. I'm making stuffed portobello mushrooms for dinner tonight - that should be easy enough to eat! Katie - why wouldn't you have kept the Pogo book?!? They are very funny! Thanks you all. After wishes are just as appreciated. Smiles. It was a good day and it's been a good weekend so far. We still have tomorrow. The canning has gone pretty good, but it sure is hard with two old ladies with bad backs one of which uses a cane, to haul all that hot water and such and schlep the stuff around the kitchen, clean all the jars from basement,. etc.. etc.. lol. Did a few dills and some tomatoes. Meanwhile dragging the canning stuff from the pantry closet[which is an under the stairs kind of deal so it goes far back but gets shallow] caused me to have to clean and rearrange that. I've just about killed Christy. She may never take another day off. LOL. Omg. Lars.. you made me laugh so hard. I read your post to Christy and she said.. "Jerseylicious..you... NOT..", then she proceeded to kill herself laughing. ..lmao.. omg.. good one. Don't have the accent. My hair is long and I've only had it cut professionally once in my adult life and that was a trim. I cut it myself. No hair products, except shampoo. Some eye liner and mascara sometimes. No animal prints..ever..lol.. I wear long cotton tshirt dresses or long tshirts and shorts/pants. Sorry if this disappoints.. smiles. Btw, around here we call that part of NJ.. New York New Jersey.
