Breathing a HUGE sigh of relief

First a little background: My youngest son, aged 21 has been studying in Spain since Sept. Around October he started experiencing some weird symptoms - numbness and tingling in hands and feet, and eventually arms and legs, muscle twitches, etc. He went to a doctor in Spain, who sent him to a neurologist there, and a brain MRI was done showing no abnormalities. He felt better for a while, then the symptoms began to get worse. He looked up his symptoms online and was convinced that he had ALS and was dying. He was in such a state that he couldn't concentrate. We consulted with his doctor (pediatrician) here, and she thought that it could be any number of things, including MS and thought that he should come home for testing. We didn't want him to receive a potentially devasting diagnosis away from family.

So he came home on Feb. 24th and originally had an appt. with the best neurologist in our area on March 12th (today), but he had a cancellation on Feb 26th. He had numerous tests - blood, xray, MRI, EMG - and everything came back normal!! He was diagnosed with Benign Fasciculation Syndrome, which can be annoying and frustrating, but is not life threatening. And he will be able to return to Spain, he is flying out tomorrow - if he wasn't able to return by next Monday, the 15th he would be dropped from the program.

So it's been a pretty stressful couple of weeks, but we are so happy that he is going to be okay!!
