Summer Torte Again! And the BEST!

I made one for Christmas with fresh apricots and apricot preserves - it was gloriously perfect! (insert choir singing)

I added 1 tsp of vanilla to the batter. Then cut the apricots in half, then each half in half again. Put them into a bowl with apricot preserves and mixed it up real good. Spread it over the batter and dropped a little more apricot preserves sparingly over about half of the chunks. Then sprinkled 2tbs of white sugar over all.

My family went nuts over it. This is my favorite of all of them. Next I am going to try cherry pie filling dropped in small clumps.
