Turn on tv, it comes up but not with a good picture for a couple seconds then turns itself off (protection mode?). I have taken the cover off (yes I am careful and it is unplugged, thanks) taken canned air to clean off any dust then checked fuse only saw one. Everything looks ok but I am not expert. I am ok with soldering iron so if I need to replace something I can do that just need to know what to look for. Please help this tv died at 14 months of age and Magnavox refused to do anything about it. Thanks from "Watching on 13" tv" in WV. Dave

could be any number of things. do you have the proper knowledge/equipment to repair electronics? can you trouble shoot voltage, solder conenctions, and follow a schematic diagram of an electronic circuit? if no to any of the above then you likely cannot repair it yourself. sorry to say this, but it MAY be better to just replace the TV. stay away from Phillips/Magnavox.

Is it plugged in? LOL, just kidding. What do you mean when you say you 'dusted' it? What type of atmosphere has it been in? How did you dust it? Did it work immediately before your dusting? Does it make any noise at all when you try to turn it on? A click perhaps? How about any indication (power) lights? Have you tried both the remote and the switch on the unit itself? Make sure the outlet is working by trying some other device. Other than the above, it sounds to me like your power supply has called it quits. Under no circumstance should you open the TV up. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, you can get seriously zapped.. and I mean seriously.
