Thank you all, my dear, dear friends. Yesterday we had one of those days here at our house -- no water for 36 hours, Freya sneaking a pizza off the kitchen counter, and the smell of fresh polyurethane pervading the cold, damp house.... On the other hand, I had the loving affection of Tom and my DS Jacob, calls and cards from family, and greetings from all of you. And tonight we're going out to dinner to try celebrate again. Carla, Luanne, Jon, Anita, Lori, Ingrid, Sue, Carolina, Pamela, and Carol -- each one of your messages brought smiles and memories to my mind. I just realized that with the exception of Ingrid, I know each one of you in the Real World (as opposed to online) -- Ingrid, we'll just have to correct that soon. Thanks everyone! I was busy most of the day with necessary taxes, LOL, oh well. Pampering day another time! We went out to dinner with friends in downtown LA (Chaya Downtown), I ordered my fav duck breast, and then we had third row orchestra center tickets for 'Anything Goes'. Nice show! Thanks for the late wishes too! And I especially want to thank Annie for making the effort to greet me from Texas - that is very special to me. I took off from work today because I was really tired, and I don't have anything really pressing to do there. I will need to get back tomorrow, however. For some reason, I woke up at 2:00 a.m. today and couldn't get back to sleep, and so when it was time to get ready for work, I was extremely tired. This let me celebrate Mardi Gras, I guess. Lars

Oh thank you all so very much dear friends! Your messages are really heartwarming for me. I also miss being here and do drop by to have a read when I can. Hopefully I may be able to come back again when things are not so busy here at home. Wolf will continue to be bedridden from now on and I will continue to be his caregiver. But I do get out with girlfriends for some dinners and needed respite from home duties. I'm so lucky that my Pilates exercise class is at a tennis club which is just a seven minute walk from our house, and they are now putting on some luncheons and evening events which are close enough for me to attend. I still go to Pilates twice a week and feel it has kept me physically strong, as well as giving me a chance to meet up and chat with classmates, so I'm able to cope. One does need to get away and have contact and support from friends. Today I invited my friend Lynne to a lunch of chicken salad at the tennis club. They have a delicious one made by the new chef....tender greens, small pieces of chicken, and a super balsamic and honey dressing. We sat outside under a white umbrella and it was so nice. We were invited to champagne on the house and then we had a dessert of apple struedel in a cream sauce. (You see I can't get away from talking about food can I!) So I've had a lovely day and now it's been made even better by seeing your thoughtful birthday wishes. Thanks again dear friends. I miss you too and hope to get back with you again when I'm better organized. Bizzo I do hope you make it here for a visit! Thanks everyone! I'm feeling MUCH better today, but the tax man calleth and we're working on that today. It is gorgeous weather and I'll spend some time outdoors later. Tonight DS #1 has friends coming over to watch 'Airplane!' so DH will shop for and make burgers. I'm craving chicken wings. Later in the week I'm doing lunch with friends etc.!

We did the 'real' celebration yesterday - family dinner at Drago Centro, our current favorite downtown restaurant, then to see 'Fela!'. My kids wanted to switch their salmon or steaks for my butternut squash angliotti, LOL. Picky DS#2 decided he really liked fresh burrata and tried everything on everyone's plate, except the baby beets. He even had the roasted brussels sprouts and didn't spit it out, ha. DH and I shared a small carafe of really good wine (didn't want to fall asleep during the show). Traffic was light for LA, so we had plenty of time to relax!
