Building a Home

Anyone know who makes this microwave? Or how to build it in?

I want to do something similar to this in my basement - take a small, shallow microwave, and have it built into my upper cabinets. The microwaves I have looked at are much deeper and would not fit in an upper cabinet. I would prefer not to put it in a lower cabinet and like how they have done this . . . but I can't figure out what microwave this is? Any guesses? It doesn't look like there is a trim kit either . . .

That looks like a GE Spacesaver. Only model I know of that is shallow enough for regular uppers.

good morning, thanks for all of your good thoughts, this is always the right place! Yah, I did look at better woodburners at WalMartz yesterday, 19.99. It would just take too long no matter how fast it went. I did find one online I could get for $35.99, sigh, money is just so tight right now. http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/11286 , these look like really GOOD ones. (plus I would have to buy another propane torch, mine became a victim of the last move.) A link to my album is below, the birdhouses are, oddly enough, under the heading 'Birdhouses I Made'. I have about 5 or 6 more photos to take and then add later today of more pallet-wood birdhouses. Debbie, I do have a dremel-type tool (bought it to file the dog's toenails, heh heh) I should at LEAST try that. I could wipe a little dark stain into the etching. Selm - please start your own thread when asking for help. This is an old thread - over 2 years old and it's likely many will not look at it; I only looked at it b/c I saw the old origination date and figured it was either: A pro attempting to solicit business by supposedly helping the original poster (we've had a lot of that kind of "spam" since the Houzz takeover) -or- Someone new who didn't know they should be starting their own threads and not hijacking someone else's thread. I don't know for certain which camp you fall into, but if you truly are asking for help, your own thread will be better. I think many people ignore the older threads b/c of the prevalence of the first.

Dragonfly, my co-workers loved them. I'm surprised they made it in. I'm so clumsy that I'm shocked I didn't drop them. I was on the way into the timeshare office I work in and I was stopped by three housekeepers who begged to see what I had in the carrier. They started reaching for a biscuit and then remembered to say, "Cud we tra won?" Well of course I couldn't say no. They along with my co-workers said that the biscuits tasted just like the ones at Red Lobster and they were grateful for me bringing them. I gave the recipe (with a bit of hesitation, I didn't want them to know how easy they were to make, I wanted them to think I slaved for them!) to 4 people. Thanks again Dragonfly... this really must be the best forum on the net!

You don't even have to post the picture. Is there an online store that has the stool? Just go to their website, with the page that has the stool. Copy the URL address, then put it down below in the "optional link URL" box, and give it a name, like "christian stool". Hit preview, then submit. Voila! We have all had our moments of frustration with the site, but the info and guidance we've recieved is far greater!

That actually looks more like an OTR MW that is just hung from a shorter cabinet and trim placed around it rather than a MW on a shelf. Look underneath it. You see MW, not cabinets.

The easy answer to "build in a MW is to order a section of uppers with extended depth, say 16" deep. Most MW specific cabinets will come like that. You really cannot use a small MW in a tight hole without a trim kit though. Not unless you leave adequate ventilation space around it, which leaves it not looking built in.

hollysprings is correct.

Looking at it on my computer vs my phone, I found out whose kitchen it is.

From the original picture with an explanation: I love that backsplash! The cooktop is 36" wide (Thermador gas) and the vent (tucked inside the wood hood) is 33" (remote blower). The microwave is 24" wide and is an over-the-range model, meaning it is screwed into the shelf above it (there's no shelf underneath it supporting it). Flanking the cooktop and hood are spice pull-outs. In the cabinet on the far right (right of microwave) are tea, more seasonal, nalgene bottles and palliatives.
