Hi,

I went to the hp website that you both gave me. Here is the link. On the list for Presario Easy Access Keyboard, is this what I need? I clicked on it and the next page made me nervous so I came back to ask you guys. Thanks.

Sorry I missed that post but have since read it.

In the power schemes tab, Energy star is the one selected in the drop down menus the choices are: Home/Office Desk, Portable Laptop, Presentation, Always On, Minimize Power Manager and Max Battery. Which would you suggest I choose?

Also Turn on hard disk is set at Never
Turn off moniter is set at never
System Stanby was set at after 15 mins, but I changed to never at your suggestion also System Hibernation is set at never. The only thing red x out in device manager is something called Wan Network Driver under Network Adapter. Waiting for your kind suggestions. Thank you.

I've replaced keyboards on a couple of laptops. It's actually a lot easier than you'd think. You need to remove a few screws and open it almost flat (so the screen is pointing straight up), then disconnect a thin ribbon connector, put the new keyboard in and reattach the screws (specific steps may vary a little bit, but it will be pretty similar). I've always used the original equipment. On a personal laptop where I did this, I bought a dead laptop of the same model on ebay and used it for parts. On a work laptop, it was on an extended warranty and they sent the keyboard by UPS. In my case, though, the keyboards were not working correctly. I think I'd be inclined to let the faded letters stay or use the paper/tape approach.

My husband bought the Orgreenic pan at Bed Bath & Beyond today. I bought the Lint Lizard. We'll see how they work... I usually buy stuff I see on TV at Walmart. No shipping and handling fees and I can return it if I don't like it... I might try the keyboard if/when it comes to the stores..

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

Set the power scheme to always on.

You mention "Turn ON hard disk" , Don't you mean turn OFF hard disk is set to never?

Put both 'turn off monitor' and 'turn off hard disk' to never. Be sure to turn on a screensaver. If you need me to walk you through that, I will. Let me know.

The device that is disabled is for an Wide Area Network (WAN) connection. If your Internet connection is working fine, leave it alone for now.

You should have no more system stand-by problems. It hasn't happened since you made the changes, correct?
