Outlook 2010 won't show sents or deletes

New computer with Win 7, Office Pro 2010 OEM. My ISP also has sales and service and I bought the Equus/Nobilis computer from them. Their tech just left after making a housecall - I appreciated the service but my problem wasn't solved, he was as puzzled as I am.

My Outlook doesn't show my sent items, or items I've sent to the delete file. I can see when googling I'm not alone in this but I can't find a reliable source for a solution - and there must be one. ?.

I tried filling out the help form online at Microsoft Help and with OEM in the product number it seems to refer me to the manufacturer. Has anyone run across hidden sents and deletes in Outlook 2010?

The mail is there, but where. If I type the name of a recipient for example in the search function, it brings up all mail to and from that person. But that has to be done one at a time, all mail to all address is not listed by time in Sent Items.

I do have one email in sent items - it's an invoice sent thru my Quickbooks program.

Here's an update on my problem - which is now half solved:)

My ISP tech entered a command yesterday to save all mail to computer/machine only and that has resolved the sent mail issue. Emails are appearing as they should in the Sent file. Similar attempts did not correct the issue of deleted emails not showing in the delete/trash file.

This morning I looked into Windows files and folders troubleshooter and installed a little program called FixIt - I have no idea how well this really works. FixIt reported a corrupt Delete file and a View setting that was 'lost or incorrect', asked if it could repair, I said Yes, and it prompted successfully accomplished. But nothing changed.

Currently Sent folder is normal - and that's huge.

As for Deleting items, if I click the X, the email leaves In or Sent boxes. It does not show up in Deleted items. If I use the Outlook search function to look for it, I can find it. If I click on Empty Deleted Item Folder and search again, its gone.

I can drag mail from In and Sent boxes into the Deleted items at left and they do stay there then, and the number count increases appropriately with each dragged email.

Have you run Diagnostics on Outlook yet? I don't have that version, but in 2007, it is under Help--->Office Diagnostics.

Maybe that will shed some light.

Whew! I took out the replacement second internal hard drive (and the external hard drive). Rebooted - everything booted up fine. Then I shut down. Reattached the external drive - booted up - everything's fine. So does it seem that the replacement drive from WD is bad as well? (I did not put the 2TB drive back in - but it was working fine before. Again - this drive was bought for when I get around to setting up a dual boot XP/Windows 7 drive - and until my family crisis - and multiple electronic/tech failures are resolved, I'm not going to tackle that one.) Don't know why it wouldn't boot from the original hard drive when the replacement second drive was installed. Any thoughts? since it does boot with the bad drive - although it mentions the hard drive problem and allows me to select F1 to continue. At least I'm up and running - and the main, original drive seems fine. (I have used Acronis - and did a back up and incremental over the summer. Then did a full clone in December when I thought the drive was failing. But I am still quite confused by the acronis instructions - and would like to start from scratch. Now I have a 2TB external drive and would like to make the proper kind of back up. How should I do this - as the words on some of instructions Raven often links use clone at one point but seem to be talking about a different kind of back up. One complication is that the original thread for acronis 2010 - with pics - is gone now and acronis 2011 instructions are more fleshed out). I have Acronis 2010. Thank you. Lynn.

Update: I just called her on the phone. She does not use Outlook. She uses something like ATT Yahoo for her email. When she goes into Programs....and tries to open Outlook Express, she gets some message that mentions there is an error....and goes on to talk about a POP server....and other things way over my head. I suggested that she call her provider for some help. It was over my head. I thank you raven and Bob for your messages. Larry

Update - Thank you all so much for your great ideas. I never expected this kind of response and so appreciate it. We are till working on this...debating whether to try to repair the chair ourselves or raising hell in the ways you all suggested to have it all sent back. First things first...the salesperson who waited on me hasn't been back to work since the delivery. She will be in on Tuesday. She has been on vacation. The store manager has been in NY. The asst. manager won't make a move until the manager returns from NY. So...it's on hold until Tuesday for sure. I did file a complaint with the TX atty general's office. They are looking into it and have notified Macy's about the complaint. I;ve only been in TX a couple of years and was not aware of the TX Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Thanks a lot for that info. And, to clarify a few comments.Yes, I did buy from a real Macy's store that has a furniture department. It wasn't an outlet store. Yes, I did use my macy's card at the store when I purcahased the furniture. They do take credit cards here. I did not order it online. Of course, hindsight is everything, but by using my Macy's card I got a discount. So, I bit. I may call on you all to help in the ways you suggested before it's over with. I truly feel thankful for all the interest and suggestions...the members of this forum are the best...always so helpful and friendly. I would have never thought of half your suggestions. I am a fabricator. I have been following this thread with interest and find it contains a lot of disinformation and skewed perspectives. Over half my business is high end homes where money is often not a consideration and interior designers are common. Natural stone is still the preferred material for the majority of the work we do even though we provide a wide variety of engineered surfaces includes the various quarts brands and the new materials like Dekton. The quartz products are rapidly losing the panache they enjoyed for years as the new alternative to natural stone. This change has been exacerbated by the emergence of discount brands and discounting among the big suppliers as they fight for market share. Granite has changed in that "exotics" are much more prevalent and alternative finishes to the traditional polish are increasingly common. The buying public has also become more educated and recognizes the actual maintenance for natural stone is minimal unless the material is one of the alternates like marble or travertine which have inferior material properties. My advice to my customers is always to pick the "look" they want and make sure they understand the material properties. Marble is extraordinarily beautiful but it is only a little harder than jello, wicks up liquids like a sponge, and dissolves readily in common organic acids like acetic acid.

I'm stumbling around in Office 2010 looking for things, my long used version was 2002.

I find:
Office Diagnostics, also known as Customer Watson, is removed for all Office 2010 applications. Because of shifting resources, the focus must be on analysis and reporting features that have been proven beneficial for other teams. Users must now run the repair utility from the Control Panel."

I can locate some system repair helps there in Control panel. So far anyway, don't lose patience with me:)

Searching for Office 2010 Outlook repair tool - takes me to one for the Inbox. If I search specifically for one for Outlook Delete folder, I'm back to the Win FixIt program I've run. Running that one again shows no repairs to be made.

Try creating a new Outlook profile. Maybe check for functionality before importing your pst files.
