Out of Warranty service for Sub Zero 532 above expectation
Comments (5)My experience with Sub Zero has also been above expectation. I have the 501R and the 501F that we bought in 1988. My son managed to break the metal handle on the freezer. Since the warranty had expired I called Sub Zero to ask about buying a new handle and they offered to send me a replacement for free. When they realized I had 2 separate units they sent me two handles so that they would match. We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago and had to remove both units and store them in the garage while the demolition was going on. To make moving them easier the contractor decided to take the doors off when he brought them back into the kitchen and then installed the ceramic discs on the hinges incorrectly causing them to wear prematurely. One call to Sub Zero and they mailed new discs for both units. As for other repairs - the compressor on my refrigerator failed 3 months after the warranty expired. My repair tech called SubZero and they agreed to cover the cost of the parts. And I'll readily admit that my icemaker has had 3 service calls. Two of them were due to mechanical problems but the third was because the flexible intake line clogged due to debris in my water supply. Not bad for 22 years....See MoreNew Noisy Sub-Zero
Comments (28)Hi what was your resolution? We also just got a brand new 18” Column freezer and it runs almost constantly and so very noisy. We’ve had technician out three times. They replaced the control board but nothing changed. We’re really hose to have spent $9K on a freezer that never shuts off. We can even hear it downstairs....See MoreNew Sub Zero from eBay seller?
Comments (6)I just bought (with great apprehension) a Bosch range on Ebay. The seller did have a very good rating. I actually saved $900.00. I was worried, but $900.00 is alot of money when you are building a home and have many extras that you weren't planning on. The range was really packed well. It was on a pallet and it had foam around it, plastic wrap and more plastic wrap. The seller had that it was only curb side dely. I was really afraid of that becoz being single, I really didnt' have anyone to help me bring it inside. Well, the driver actually automatically brought it into my garage. I then gave him $20.00 which he didnt' even want. before I signed for the range, I unwrapped it and it was totally dent free and seems fine. Maybe I just lucked out - I haven't had it installed yet, but so far it was a smooth transaction. Good luck in whatever you decide. As for the mfg. not honoring warranty if not bought from an authorized dealer, that's crap on their part ! It's thier product, they should honor the warranty no matter where you buy it. Why should it matter?????...See MoreAppliances We are Considering Wolf, Sub Zero, Miele
Comments (10)Great Advice, PeterH2. I love the great big window on the Elux oven door, how cool the door stays, the huge (wavetouch display which "to me" is intuitive) and easily read without my glasses. Throw in the fully gliding out racks, (smooth as silk) even after 5 years, and an oven that understands "C" or "F" degrees, I have no idea what temp scale Miele's use, but it ain't one of the above-----Need proof, just do a search for Miele oven temperatures. Miele does make a great dishwasher however, We have the Optima, again for 5 years now and it has "somehow" managed to keep up with the reliability of my other Elux appliances---Speed Oven, Induction cooktop and wine fridge. I do not recommend buying Elux DW's or their fridges. As has been said , time and time again here, No appliance maker makes the best appliance for everything, Elux and Wolf have it right on the ovens, Miele the DW's. For a fridge I would at least look at the Jennairs, it is usually the #1 rated fridge for reliability per folks that responded to surveys by Consumer Reports, yep, top of the heap, can you guess who was on the bottom, reliability wise?, alto now I think they are 3 up from the bottom, at least last time I checked. If you are a serious cook, which your post seems to indicate, then U really have 3 choice, Capital, Blue Star and possibly American Range--all high powered open burner gas ranges--alto my induction unit will blow the socks off any of those when it come to boiling water, precise and instant temp control, ease of cleaning etc, but I do recognize that there are still "Gassers" in this World!! Good luck on your hunt, hope it works out as well for you as it has for us, 5 years later, and still no service calls cept for a loose handle on the speed oven. Gary...See Morebbstx
