Happy Thanksgiving From our home to yours

Thanksgiving is essentially a harvest related festival. It celebrates communal harmony. Though it is said to have been originated in America, a number of other countries celebrate harvest related festivals. They are observed with different names and in different seasons.

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated with lot of fervor and merry-making in America. Celebrated on the fourth Thursday in the month of November every year,(which happens to be on the 26th of the month this year) it is a time for communal thanksgiving, feeling gratitude, lavish feasts. It is a time to remember the pilgrims. The original pilgrims celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks. The feast popularly known as the 'First Thanksgiving Day Feast' was held as a gesture of thanks to almighty God . It was celebrated in the year 1621. After the United States gained independence, Congress recommended one yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate.

Until recently, people believed Thanksgiving Day to be a celebration of pilgrims, offering food to Indians. It however is a day marked as a gesture of thanks and gratitude to Lord almighty for his blessings. It is also a celebration to mark the respect towards Indians for teaching the pilgrims how to cook. Pilgrims could not have survived without the help of the native Indians.

Here in America, it is a custom to serve Pumpkin Pie as part of our Feast. And, because I find that all the good people of the world here at Help2Go are very committed to giving/sharing their knowledge to help others, I would like to share our Pumpkin Pie with you.

To the wonderful people here at The Garden Web, I do apologize for my oversight. I am learning computing at another Computer Help site as well as here. Upon posting my thanks to them there, I copied and pasted the full post that I submitted there and didn't delete there Logo. Please except my apologies! You folks are really great here at The Garden Web, and been so good to Joe & I, that I did not want to disclude you in my thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving day also to all Canadian Garden Web members and happy Columbus Day to our American friends. We will be having Thanksgiving on Monday at my daughters. My son-in-law, the chef, likes to put on dinner parties, so it will be quite a feed. I am spending the rest of the weekend cleaning up my garden and getting ready for winter. Bonnie, What a group of good looking ladies!!! My DS would of loved to help with your party.LOL He's 32, still single with new home, owns 2 businesses and lots of toys. I should post a picture but instead I'll End the story! Everything looks great. I really like how you decorated your entry table or buffet. It is a double WOW! Thanks for the good wishes David....it really was a great Thanksgiving! Ann , nice to see you and Moe have made freinds in your new community. Sharing with others is what the holiday is all about! We had a great T-Day here at the cottage. Just 8 of us but food for 20! LOL The weather was perfect, low 70's and a ton of sun. We were even able to have a "party boat" lunch cruise Saturday. I BBQ'd Brats and Burgers on the boat served along with potato salad and slaw. Sunday's dinner was "same old , same Old " turkey and all the trimmings which seemed fine with everyone! Today we had the reason for the whole damn meal....turkey and stuffing sandwiches served with this year newly opened dills!!! Life is good!

Thank you, I love my Northern neighbors, it's the only time I get to say that I live in the South, LOL. Here it was pumpkin pie, cheesecake, chocolate pie, homemade ice cream. Oh yeah, we had turkey too, LOL. Amanda woke up throwing up but came anyway and napped on the couch while the kids watched "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" courtesy of Netflix DVD. Ashley had one of those troublesome gallbladder attacks so she didn't eat much either. Madison played with her cousins, Mom and Elery had a couple of glasses of wine. We had lots of leftovers too, so we made up some plates and sent them to Ashley's co-workers who were stuck working emergency today and Kevin, who is pulling a double shift. CLBlakey, it was 55F and sunny here, a lovely Thanksgiving Day. With a wonderful husband, both my daughters and all my grandkids, I have a lot to be thankful for. Annie

Happy Turkey day to all the posters on GW, greatest forum on the internet, been a member here far too long to even remember, dummied onto this somehow when I first got the computer, over 10 years ago!

And a Happy Thanksgiving from us (Don and Bobbie, aka grandms) also. Pat, at my age if I were to count my blessings one by one, I'd never finish. We so often take for granted those things which people in other parts of the world never have.
